Fire Wolf Series

Chapter 87

Ch. 87 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

My smile faded to a worried frown the moment she closed the door behind her. I was more than a werewolf. Fire Queen! What did that mean? I had to find a way to reach reality.

I grabbed my phone. I should talk to Mr. Morris. I messaged him quickly to see, could he meet me? I pulled in a huge breath of air as I tried to relax.

My phone pinged after a second. He was in the meeting hall. It wasn't far from our house. There must be Alphas meeting tonight.

I jumped on my feet and rushed to the kitchen. I could hear Mom humming in a strange tone. She was happy. I was so relieved to know.

My phone buzzed. I twirled and glanced over it. My heart shuddered in dread and I jumped on my feet. I scooted to the door and didn't look back at anyone.

My inner voice screeched at me. He had helped us a lot, first by providing me a job when no one wanted me near them because we stayed separately from our father. Nobody knew us. So they considered what their thoughts wanted to accept.

I reached the place where I met the woman. I was paralyzed. I was feeling helpless and she was enjoying it. She could have killed me easily.

My remaining skills died completely when I saw his picture in his blood. Did she hit him? Because he helped me. Oh! Please, Lord, keep him safe.

My breathing turned shallow when I halted my feet. Chances were he wouldn't survive if I couldn't reach him on time. He was an old man. I never saw him shift. I do know. Could he save himself? I was praying for her spell to not work over him. I was still grasping my phone. I couldn't dare to look at his picture again. I pulled in a huge breath of air and coughed it back out. My brain felt numb. She asked me to come here alone. I am here.

"Mr. Morris! Are you okay? Please make a noise so I can reach you," I shouted.

"A foolish person, but good for me." I jerked my head in fear to find the voice. He was just behind me, giving me an acidic look.

My eyes bulged out in shock. He was perched upon a rock and staring at me with a grin over his face. Shock must have frozen me as he began to laugh loudly. Overlooking me, he toyed with the weapon in his hand.

My heart began to thud in my ribcage. There was blood. I didn't need to ask what he had done. His wings were above his head, giving him a more spooky look.

"What have you done with him?" I asked angrily.

He shot an evil grin. His eyes drifted from the dripping blood of the knife to me. Would I be next? I was scared of Mr. Morris.

"Come with me, Emersyn. I'll let wolves find that old man. Believe me, he can survive."

I stared at him in horrible silence. "Where's he?" I dared to look around, shifting my gaze away from his knife.

It wouldn't be difficult for him to reach forward and stab me. A violent shiver ran down my spine at the thought of him torturing an old man.

I took a giant gulp of air through my mouth. He twisted the bloodied weapon between his fingers. He could skin me alive.

"I don't have powers." I told him but I remembered the words. I could be useful in gaining someone's powers. The idea sucked.

His laughter boomed around. I shuddered and took a step back. I was aware his eyes were on me. He was looking at me as if I was some kind of stuff.

"Hurry, the old man has no time. You can't see him Live. You're a delicate process and heart over your head Queen.'' Another laugh chilled my bones., " If you don't trust me." He gestured to my right.

A gasp left my body. Terror made me unsettled by an overwhelming surge of guilt washed over me. Tears brimmed in my eyes, "Let him go," I demanded with tears.

"He can't walk on his own. He needs your help. Come with me, Emersyn. Help will reach him." He said, smirking.

"Why do you want me to go with you?"

"You don't know. How precious you are! Do you?" His brows shot up.

I quieted for a moment and my gaze dropped on him. Face was covered in his blood, dying like a dead on the ground. Gradually, I nodded my head.

At a light speed, he was in front of, with a menacing grin playing over his face. He wrapped his white wings around me. I stared at him with a mix of terror and shock.

When he pulled back his beautiful white wings at his back. I wasn't in the forest of Charles' territory, "Stay here. Until the moon doesn't show in the sky." He said and disappeared into thin air.

The bracelet was gleaming around my wrist. No use, I was trapped now. My gaze darted around. I couldn't see any door or window. In a few hours, I'd die from the lack of oxygen. I walked over to the wooden wall and tapped my hands. Teal ring glowed. I wished it could give me some power. If I were a wolf, she would have helped me to get out of here. Would he behead me or would go through a special ritual to kill me, so he could gain powers. It was ridiculous. Tension weighed down on me. I splintered away from the wall, darting my gaze around to find anything that could help me to get out of here. I hit my hand on every side of the wall but there was nothing that could give me a tiny hope.

"Hey! " I looked at the ceiling hoping to look for a hole or anything. But nothing, "Let me out of here. My friends will find you," I shouted.

After trying for hours, banging, shouldering the walls, and looking for a door, I slipped noiselessly to the floor. I knew. Death was coming for me. But I was expecting to see my mate before closing my eyes forever. It was harder to believe, but I was going to die. I was unsure what to do. I searched in my pockets to look for my phone. I was going to die. A strange tinge was spreading its way over me,

I glanced at the red hands after beating the wall. I should try hard. I could let them just kill me. I needed to know. Why did he leave me? That's it.

My bracelet didn't fade for a second. I stared at the floor. A faint shudder rippled through my body. I placed my left ear against the wooden floor and began to tap. If I couldn't find a way down, I didn't know how to reach the ceiling. I kept moving as I pressed my ear against the floor, knocking my knuckles.

'A little bit ahead,' A soft male voice echoed in my mind. I stifled a shudder but I couldn't ignore the little strength I felt hearing him. My gaze drifted around. I was alone. I shook my head. I needed to get out of the ghosted cage. I was freezing. Soon, I would be hungry.

I halted my breathing when I felt the hollowness on the other side. Exactly on the spot where the voice told me.

I stared at it closely. Finding a way to pull the door. there was a hole enough for my fingers to fit in. The slight smile faded from my face when I considered the danger on the other side.

I wanted to trust that soft voice. I puffed out the breath and slid my finger, clenching around. I pulled it. Nothing. Along with the nauseating fear, and worry. I moved on my feet and tried to pull it up again. I heard the creaking.

I clasped my hand over my wrist and pulled it. I shivered discreetly when I peered down. The old dusty wooden staircase ended in darkness. I didn't get any hint where it would lead. It was better than waiting for him to slaughter me.

I considered the consequences for a second. I don't have much time. I grabbed the door with both my hands. It was heavy. Who cares when it takes you out. I climbed down three steps and closed the door, still climbing down the stairs.

When the door closed above me. I found myself in the dark. Randomly, I climbed down the stairs. I was hoping they would end soon and lead me to the straight path, with lamps on both sides. We should keep dreaming. The silence was fearful. Only my heartbeat was audible to my ears. Shouting in my ears that I was alive, for now.

When my eyes adjusted in the dark. I could see the walls. But the darkness was louder. It was a tunnel, I guessed. I was trying not to miss a single detail.

I jumped in terror as green light filled the dark tunnel. I blinked in horror and stumbled drifting my gaze around for the source. My heart was racing in my ears.

"Oh!" A smile curled up on my face when I peered down at the ring-illuminating light. Fortunately, my bracelet was not visible any more. I let out a sigh of relief, and a smile stayed on my face. I was away from danger. I am so thankful to Mary and Aubrette. But he could come from the path I came, following me. I was determined to keep pacing. My gaze was returning to my wrist, I was frightened any moment a new danger might come leaping out. I pulled my coat closer. The wind was cold against my skin. I wasn't bothered where it would lead until the bracelet didn't show up.

I heard the rattling of metal. I lifted my hand up to see clearly through. It was coming from the other side of the path. My bracelet and ring were my only hope and my friends, they weren't around me. No, I did not want my friends to come here, following me. I wanted them safe.

I kept pacing with my heart in my throat. The path was opening in a hall made of stones. A set of dark amber eyes were already staring at me. Her dried lips were parted. First, there was fear. When our gaze met. She relaxed.

Dread clenched my stomach. She was in chains, "Help, " She weakly said, her eyes pleading. She was looking so drained that she was standing with the help of the chains.

"Who did this to you?" She could be anyone. A Vampire, angel, a witch, or fae.

"Zadkiel, " She whispered his name.

A frown creased my forehead when I heard his name. His white wings showed him as a good person but he was the opposite. First, he kidnapped me. Now I found out that he kept a young girl without her permission.

I scurried forward and began to unfurl the chains around her arms, and then legs. I held my breath as she was stinking. She needed a long shower. I would ask her after getting out of here.

She threw her arms around my neck when she was freed from them.

"Can you walk? I can't carry you." I told her, ignoring the odor.

"I'm sorry." She pulled back and looked around, "He must have taken my necklace with him." She kept looking around.

"We have to go. I don't want him to find us." I said, frightening.

"Yes, I'm not powerful without my pendant." She said in a weak tone.

I looked at her, a heart-shaped face, thin pink and dried lips, soaked blood dried on the cracks of them. She must be beautiful.

"We can't find it. We need to.."

"I know," Perhaps, my eyes weren't working but her drainess was fading slowly. She didn't need to place her hand on the wall or hold me to support, "Are you okay?" I asked her, feeling not so certain.

"My pendant is here," She said, walking around.

A slight noise at the other side of the tunnel startled us. Her big eyes turned to me.

"He's here," She whispered.

A chill ran down my spine. My big eyes turned in the direction

"I need your ring," She said, I watched her eyes closely, and there were flecks over her cheeks.

"Impossible," I covered my ring with my hand and shook my head fiercely. It could be a trap. I can't trust her. She's a stranger. It's a gift. I wasn't going to give it to her.

"It's the only way to save us. I'll return it after we reach a safe place." She muttered under breath.
