Chapter 95

Ch. 95 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

He pulled the car over in front of the door of his castle. Jolly was already waiting for us. She was looking nervous and scared, shifting on her feet. Her eyes rested on the car.

"I'll see you later, Queen." James told me.

I nodded. "Thank you, for rescuing me." I offered a soft smile.

He deflated, sagging his shoulders. "My pleasure." He nodded his head, returning the smile.

I reached for the door and jumped out. He did not even wait for me to close the door and sped away.

"Why is he in such a hurry?" I huffed.

"Master is waiting for you, Queen." Jolly bowed her head.

I was startled by her sudden soft voice. My brows shot up in confusion. She was Esmeralda's personal maid. Esme doesn't like me, it was obvious her loyal people won't like me either.

I spun, sauntering inside. "What forced you to be so polite to me?" I couldn't help asking. A sarcastic laugh echoed in my head.

"Master is our King." She said.

"What's about your queen?" I asked, snorting. Her hateful posture flashed in my head, standing next to Cecilia.

I shook it away. It shouldn't bother me. We weren't ever friends and there's no possibility in the future to be friends.

Jolly stepped forward. Her gestures were humble. That was quite unsettling. She led the way. We headed to the basement.

My body tensed when I found he wasn't alone waiting for me. Jolly bowed her head and left, closing the door behind her. I whirled to the door and began to open it without another thought. I wanted to keep my distance. Silver was my friend. Alessandro saved me. He was Dastien's friend. But He left me at the party, he didn't even consider making an excuse.

"You're safe here." My body jerked as a sudden wave of dread washed over me. His forest green eyes were piercing at me, the intensity of him made my blood run cold. My eyes .

They have teamed up. Why?

"You can take the ring off." Aragon said, I could see his tall body under the dim light.

"It's dark here. Not so much but light..." I trailed off

Esme waved her hand in the air. Suddenly, everything was clear. "It's because of the magic."

I didn't ask her anything. They could use magic. It was new to me.

His face remained cold, looking at me blankly with his forest green eyes.

Clearing my throat, I pulled the ring out and glanced around to see any change. I was still in the basement.

I whitened in dread to see his wrathful eyes on me. In a blink, he was on my face. His hand curled around my neck. "Didn't I ask you to stop this?" He gritted his teeth voicing his menacing voice.

Shivers ran down my spine. "You left." It hardly reached my ears.

"Didn't I tell you to stop? Didn't you get my message, Emersyn?" His low, gruff voice cut through the air. His hand remained soft against my throbbing pulse. He was scaring me but I wasn't. It sounded romantic to me.

His eyes narrowed at me when the thought passed through my head. My heavy breathing was disturbing the silence in the air. "The cursed life was better than that one where you weren't part of it. Do you know how it feels? It kills you every second. You want your head to stop but you would keep pace restlessly in the back of your head. I can't even explain the pain in words. And you want me to stop." I snapped.

"He was ready to sacrifice. He was ready to do what you wanted. Still you picked this path. You." He drew his cold face closer, his eyes were burning with the fire of fury. I froze, seeing burning magma inside the orbs of them. His words were flying over my head. "Brought this distance between us." His sarcastic voice was like thousands of tiny needles on my body. It was hurting so much.

"You hate me." I said what I felt. Though, I have no idea what he's talking about.

His lips twisted in a menacing smirk. I retreated my steps, his hold kept me pinned on my spot. "I hate what you did to us?" With this his touch was gone and he too.

I froze in dread, confused, his words weren't making any sense to me, the fear in my gut reaching my throat. Did I do something wrong? He wasn't looking furious just because I did not hear him. He's my mate, he can't be angry with me. But what I saw was very intense, his coldness, anger was for me. I felt him reining his anger and it was terribly hard for him. I was terrified.

"What did I do?" I asked. But there was no one to answer me. They left the moment he left. A sense of fear made my throat clogged. Tears of absolute terror blurred my sight. I did this to us. Why? I don't remember anything. How would I mend myself then?

I heard the horrible thundering. It was getting hard to rein in my tears.

'Stop!' I startled, gasping, my gaze darted around to see him. But he wasn't there. Did I hear him in my head? But it's impossible. We haven't completed the bond. A calm sense washed through my body releasing my tight throat from the painful emotions. It wasn't from within me but from him. How? Could he do this?

I stayed in bed, staring at the boring wall in the dim light. His words were tearing through my soul. What did I do? I don't remember doing anything wrong to us. I couldn't bear the pain of his crude words. Why now? Why didn't he show his hate in the academy? I would have thought before coming here. I would have kept my distance seeing hatred for me.

I sighed. I would have come here. It wasn't something I found to ignore my entire life. Everyone brushed my questions away. I did this everything according to him or perhaps all considered it, too. His mother also held me responsible and cursed me.

I don't know what to do now. Better I should sleep. My thoughts wouldn't carry me elsewhere.

I opened my eyes the next morning, shocked to discover warm seeping through my back. I wasn't startled. Every pore of my body recognized him. I was still cradled snugly against his chest. If he hated me, why was he here? I tried to keep my breathing as steady as I could. I was scared to wake him up. He was furious at me and left in anger.

"You're awake." His horas voice reached my ears as his hot breath hit the shell of my ear.

"I'm not your mate. You shouldn't be here." It hurt so much. But I said it. What was he expecting from me now?

The heat increased. He must be angry. I didn't want to turn and look at him. It would just hurt me beyond endurance.

"I didn't mean that." He whispered.

"I got it yesterday, King. You don't need to explain." I bit my inner cheek hard, tasting the blood.

"Stop being stubborn." His voice turned cold.

"Stubborn! Are you kidding me?" I pulled away from his touch, getting on my feet, I stared at him. He was in the same clothes from yesterday. But his regal long velour looking long coat was gone.

He stared at me with a tight jaw. "Just accept the truth." He said.

"Yes, I ruined everything. Are you happy now?" How could he say all that when I didn't remember a single thing. He was holding me responsible for everything.

His eyes blazed with fire showing his anger. Before I could blink my eyes, He was towering over me. I thought about running out of the room. But I couldn't reach it. He was already standing between the door and me. His gaze was cold on me.

"Sometimes, I want to burn your friends who helped you in this." He snarled, looking coldly down at me.

My heart thundered in dread. "You'll face me first if you dare to lay a finger on them." I bellowed.

He just glared at me. "Dawn is still away. Lay down." He commanded me, turning and showing his back.

"Oh, for your delicate ears I'm repeating. You shouldn't be here." My lips pursed.

He spun sharply. Air whooshed from my lungs. Curling his arm around my waist, he pressed me to his chest. 'We've completed the bond. Don't tell me who's my mate and where I shouldn't be.'

My jaw dropped in shock. My eyes bulged out. I heard him in my head. "You're la..." I have read the book. I was aware of this life and rules. Once we completed our bond, some things would remain forever, like him talking in my head. "I don't remember anything." I asked. I needed confirmation.

"Your body was preserved here. Human body could be destroyed, not us. If you'll die, I'll die. We'll disappear in the fire." He muttered.

My heart was beating in my ears. "Should I read a book to understand you? I'm not getting anything except..." I gulped in dread, peeking up at him through my lashes. He wasn't looking angry.

"You understood what was necessary." He caressed my cheek with his thumb.

"You need to tell me everything." I held his hand. My wolf was happy though we were arguing.

He shook his head. "Your friends will be here soon." His posture turned cold again and scowled looking over my shoulder.

"Don't expect me to obey you, Dastien, until you tell me everything. I came here after breaking the curse." I told him

"You haven't."

My breathing started to come fast as panic took hold on me. A wave of energy washed within me, pushing all the anxiety and fear away. How was he doing this? It was working. "Dastien," I muttered.

"You broke the curse. But I could see remnants." His eyes halted on me, flashing amber and fire. It turned dark. Dark like black holes. It was scary. His eyes were terrifying me but I wasn't frightened. Everything was confusing. I should run away from him. But an unseen power was pulling me toward him. "Something pure is protecting your soul."

"What could be more pure than love?" I asked.

One side of his lips curled up. "Yes, it's

not just me, your friends, our alphas-bond, my friends. Everyone is protecting their queen." I felt a strong smell of burning. "If something happens to you, I'll destroy everything, everything." His cold tone was promising.

"It hurts when I try to reach you." I asked.

"Remnants are preventing you. Before, she does anything we have to destroy them too." He said.

"Why aren't you telling me everything?"

"Because, we can't break the rules when we are so close to our goal."

"My goal? I want to spend a beautiful life with you." I told him.

I felt him preventing himself from saying anything. "You'll know everything at the exact time. Now, rest. Tomorrow is going to drain you."

I arched my brows at him. "What are you going to do?' I asked.

He lifted me off the ground. A smile fought back to appear on my face. I didn't want to show him softness. He scolded me.

'It's the only time I got to chide you, Mi Amor.' I heard him in my head. He flashed his dazzling smile my way.

"Ha! It's not gonna work. Stop buttering me." I told him, smirking. I flattened my lips to show fake annoyance. Who was I kidding? He could smell my emotions. It's ridiculous. There's no privacy around him and his kind.

I saw him smiling. It was better than his anger. I pulled on his arm. "I'll be fine, Dastien, if you tell me everything."

His smile dropped. "In human language, you're my wife if that answers your questions." He tapped his index finger on my temple.

I felt goosebumps but also warm inside my chest. "Are we married? Did we get married in the sixteenth century?" I asked with a squeal.

"16teen century? We're not that old my love." He chuckled as he sat down on the single bed, taking me with him. He curled his arms around me.

"But those books helped me to break the curse. They were written in 16th century." I gave him a puzzled look. We definitely weren't married. Did I reborn?

"Yes, they were." He tucked my hair back, looking softly in my eyes. "And yes, you're reborn."

I gasped. My gaze froze over him. The silence fell upon us. Reborn? But I was cursed. I'm just twenty. It could not be.

"Yes, you're reborn. There was only one chance to break it."

"You're confusing me. This can't be. It happens in books or in movies."

"Aragon let you see his memory once. Didn't he?" His voice was soft, hardly above a whisper.

I nodded my head. "You were asking for something."

"It's already written. If we could get rid of the remnants. There's a possibility you'll regain everything, your memories, your powers."

"But I don't want anything, Dastien. I wanna spend a happy life with you. I never thought about getting married. But I would like it if you'd be my husband and someday we could have babies, too." I inhaled, lowering my eyes. I want him to know how I feel for him.

I felt his lips pressing on my forehead. It lingered for a second, my heart fluttered. I glanced up at him from under my lashes. His face broke into a full smile.

"How old are you?" I shook my head in disbelief that I actually talked about our wedding and babies. Not a baby but babies!

He reclined his head on the pillow, taking me with him. My head rested against his chest. His heart is beating softly. It pulled a smile over my face.

"Two years older than you. That's all you need to know." He closed his eyes, engulfing me tightly to his chest.

Unbelievably, I was so comfortable. I closed my eyes. I feel safe with him. He gave me another tender kiss on my forehead. I smiled, forgetting all the troubles of my life. With every breath of my I could feel something deeper, my soul, my body belonged to him.
