Chapter 82

Ch. 82 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

My gaze flickered anxiously around. I had thought about every possible place where I should run. I didn't know. I would live or die. If my presence affected my new family I shouldn't be here. Should I ask Burt? Yes! That'd be great.

"What are you thinking?" Silver asked. Her laptop was open in front of her.

"Alex?" I asked, looking at her laptop.

A soft smile appeared on her face and she nodded her head, "LA was seen last month in Alaska," She said.

LA=Light Angel

"We can ask Burt." Elizabeth suggested. Her fingers were rapidly running over the display of her phone's screen.

"Can't you talk to your mate in your head?" I asked.

"I can," Silver said proudly and twirled the display to me. She had opened a website. My eyes widened. I pushed myself forward to look more closely.

"Is it true?" I asked, my voice full of shock.

Silver giggled softly, "Supernatural Website. Jasper is going to meet Angelina. We know the name of the light angel that's going to help us." Her smile broadened.

"Zadkiel," Elizabeth whispered softly.

"Why can't we go to talk to him?" I asked.

"No," Silver said, "It could be risky. He could kill us." She looks serious.

"Oh! I'm going to die anyway." I tilted my head to one side as words left my tongue. Their expressions changed into hurt and gloom. I should keep my thoughts to myself.

"You're not going to die," Silver stood on her feet and stared down at me, "If you think you can hide things from us. You can't." She stomped out of the room in exasperation.

"You pretty disturb her. Stop thinking bad things," She said, trying to find my gaze.

I was so ashamed of meeting her gaze. They were helping and I was just hurting them, "I should deal with my problems," I muttered.

"The problems... you aren't the creator." She threw her hands in the air in exasperation.

"Ain't it my burden to carry? You should be with Edward, she should be with Alessandro. I'm wasting your precious time and everyone's." I shook my head.

"We're not humans who seek each other's company because it fits and we are selfish, we have needs from each other. We're not human. We're a family, A pack. Dastien's pack." She lowered her voice.

I blinked, completely stunned by her words. It hit so hard that tears began to gather in my eyes.

"He left us, his pack." I muttered, with trembling lips.

"You can't say that. You don't even know. Why did he do this? The most difficult thing of his life... to leave you behind to find your path to him." Her eyes blazed with anger. "You should trust your mate."

I stared at her for a long time, "He could be in trouble," I sighed, hoping it would push away the wave of emotions her words brought upon me.

"Worse, we don't know anything about his world. He could be captured too. Forgotten you too. "

For whatever reason, the words gave me chills. I stared at her with wide eyes. I couldn't think of such a powerful person to be in trouble. That saved me from breaking down.

Her phone rang and I flinched at the loud ringtone. A tremor ran through me.

"Relax," Betty muttered.

I was already on the verge of tears. I couldn't cry. The entire house would be around me in a few seconds.

"I'll talk to Edward. They wouldn't mind taking you with them. We know you're planning to run away. Don't do this. Let us help. Some people don't like you. That doesn't mean you'll punish us all. A pack is a family. Always remember this. " With this she got on her feet, grabbing her phone. I lowered my head as tears began to run down, "Hello," She paced out of the room.

My watery eyes were still lingering on the door. Her words had stopped the train of my thinking. I was on the edge of my seat. Hardly daring to move, Hardly daring to sit. I was also feeling guilty about bringing it to their door. It wouldn't be easy to run away. I was feeling so despondent. They were under no obligation. Still, they were there.

With an exhausted sigh, I rested my head back. My phone buzzed on the coffee table.

Extending my hand, I grabbed it. I didn't want to. But it could be a good distraction from all my problems.

The profound silence was calming and disturbing at the same time. I was feeling out of cards.

I pulled into a silent breath. I could feel the amber gaze of my mother moving on me with every step of mine, "I'll be fine, Mom." I muttered, turning to her.

A surge of relief warmed her body and she closed her eyes exhaling slowly, "At least, you speak." She said.

"You're not my enemy, Mom." I told her. I just didn't like to speak. She didn't need to know.

"But you don't trust us," She said.

"It's not true," I said as I began to put my sneakers on.

"But you don't talk," She took a step forward. She was preparing my backpack for travel.

"Mom," I glanced at her, leaving my shoelaces untied, "I'd be glad if you tell me. Who am I? Am I actually your daughter?" I gulped as I couldn't complete my sentence. I love her. After contemplating for hours, I wasn't certain. Luke's words never left my thoughts.

"You're my daughter. I have begotten you. Never doubt that." She said, sternly.

I smiled. But the confusion was still there, "What do you know about me? Please, tell me."

"Is it about Luke?" She asked.

"No, Mom." I got up and walked over to the window. I stared out in the dark, "How could I be his mate? I'm not questioning us? I love him. But I'm different. Why?" I asked her.

"Different is always good," I felt her hand on my shoulder. They made noise sometimes when they wanted me to know their presence around me.

I held her hand in mine, "Please," I told her.

She placed her second hand against my cheek, "You were born with a strange birthmark." She said.

"And we don't talk about that scar." I said. I always hid it. It felt more like a burning mark than any birthmark.

"It's a symbol. You're the queen. I wanted to hide you. It was only between your father and me. We can't hide the truth. We can't change your destiny. It's your truth to find out. We can't tell you anything. It comes with a cost..." She trailed off.

I nodded. I didn't try to insist her to tell me. I couldn't endure them in any trouble. We lapsed into silence.

She handed me the bag and kissed my cheek, "I have packed some food too." She said.

I giggled, breaking the tension, "I'm not a werewolf, mom. I recently had my meal." I said.

"You can feel hungry at any time. You can share your meal with Edward and your brothers." She said.

"Did you pack for us too, Auntie?" Silver asked, walking in, wearing a huge grin.

She caressed her cheek, "How could I forget you? Your favorite salad in a white container."

Silver gave her a quick hug, muttering thank you to her.

"We're going for a few hours," I sat down on the couch and tied my shoelaces.

"This human inside you!" Silver rolled her eyes.

The day seemed boring without seeing her rolling eyes. She was so pretty. It made her look more pretty.

My lips twitched in the hint of a smile, "Yeah, are we ready?" I looked at them.

Elizabeth was standing in the doorway. A soft smile was on her face. She pushed herself away from the door and turned back to look out, "They're here," She said.

"We'll be back soon," Silver rushed to the door.

I saw fear and tears in her eyes. I gave her a quick hug, "You have to cook for me when I return. I'm not getting anything to eat in my way," I mocked, trying to bring a smile to her face.

I heard her laugh. I pulled back to gaze at her. With a full smile and a nod, I sauntered over to the door, and walked out of the house.
