Chapter 85

Ch. 85 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

My mother left a beautiful pink dress on the mattress for me. She was hosting a dinner party for the entire family, including Dawson and my friends. Alessandro was back. So I wanted to know everything. He went to meet Shadow Hunter Academy's headmaster.

There was a beat of silence as I stared at myself. Would Dastien approve of my look? I turned my gaze up at the ceiling. A soft smile curled on my lips. It was only for him so he could watch. What would he be doing? I hoped to find him in a good shape and away from harm.

The door opened softly behind me. I twirled and looked at two beautiful women. They were also wearing pink.

"Wow! Triplets and always pink." Elizabeth giggled, opening the doors wide open.

They walked into the room, wearing calm and happy expressions.

"It's Quadruplets." Ava said pacing in my room, chuckling. She was looking like a cute little doll.

Silver and Elizabeth glanced at me, "Truce," I mouthed as I couldn't get the opportunity to talk to them. They were busy practicing and fighting.

They smiled, looking relieved, "Yes, Quads," Silver said.

"Mom has invited my friends too. I should go downstairs." She turned.

"Ok," I said out loud but she was already out of the room.

"We should help Carla as I can see you don't need our help. She'd like it." Elizabeth said.

"Nice idea," Silver smiled and looked at me. When I didn't smile. Their smiles dropped, "What happened?" She advanced forward and placed her hand on the side of my forearm.

"I need to tell you something and I also need your help." I glanced at them.

They exchanged a look and nodded. I told them everything that mom and Charles told me last night. What I saw in the woods when we were at the door.

"I want your help. Do something like that which inspires Ava to tell us everything." I let out a quick breath, unaware I'd been holding it in.

"We have to try. But we aren't certain." Silver said.

"You never talked about your family. You should. We would have noticed her strange behavior." Elizabeth told me.

"Like you talk," I rolled my eyes.

There was a heavy pause. They went out every morning for hours to train. It was a different routine from what they followed when we were in the academy.

"You're not part of training because... I don't wanna say it." Silver said, heaving.

I rolled my eyes, "I'm human," It wasn't hard to say. I was hearing it from day one.

They smiled, *Your mom is getting worried," Silver turned to the door.

"How do you know?" My eyebrows were crushed together.

"Her scent and heartbeat. You'll feel everything when you are one of us. You're still now,"

"But cursed," I completed.

"Stop saying all this, Em. You're hurting yourself," Elizabeth scolded me.

"Ain't I? " I asked in gloomy

"That's not your fault," Elizabeth said.

I opened my mouth. My mother's gaze rested on her. She pushed the worries away from her face and managed a huge smile.

I felt her pain before seeing her smile. I wanted to hug her. But the situation would be weird.

Other soft footsteps were heard from behind her. We turned. Mom smiled at him. I waited for them to come into view.

"Samantha," Suddenly I was feeling a lot more nervous. Lance must have invited Lonan for dinner. I didn't ruin things. Right? She'd hate me more. Before my curse, she'd kill me.

"Hello, Aunt." She hugged my mother with a huge smile on her face. She was looking extremely happy.

Mom drew her in an embrace, "Congratulations, dear." We heard from my mom.

It confused us. Samantha flashed her engagement ring at us.

"Oh my goodness!" Silver squealed and quickened her pace at them. She curled her arms around them, "Congratulations,"

Elizabeth rushed forward and put her arms around them.

See! I was right about friendship. It never died. I couldn't stop my feet moving forward and gave a group hug.

"Congrats," My entire face warmed with a smile.

I could see water in her eyes. She nodded, smiling at me. She was so happy today. Neither she nor I would have thought of this day in our lives.

"Oh goodness! Alex is here." Silver broke the group hug and rushed toward the door

"Go after five minutes," Mom chuckled.

I smiled. This was a rare moment of my life. I wasn't thinking about disturbing them.

I excused myself. The dinner was essential for me. I could see my family, and friends together under the same roof before anything unpleasant happened to me. I didn't know what to expect in the future. I wasn't even certain. Would I be breathing or not?

I closed the door of the washroom behind me. I stifled a shudder. The washroom was giant enough for six people. It felt colder than I remember. I couldn't deny the spooky feeling.

I couldn't rein in the other shudder that ran through my body. I heard several voices in my ears. It was impossible. I was in the washroom. It was disturbing. I placed my hands over my ears. I couldn't block the voices. It got louder. Whatever the mayhem was, it wasn't from my surroundings.

After a few seconds, it fell quiet. Gradually, I peeled my hands, bringing them down to my side. I darted my gaze around, moving on my feet slowly. My heart gave loud beats before turning to a normal rhythm.

I shook my head in confusion, "What was that?" I muttered to myself turning to the mirror.

"Voices from your past," A deep voice reached my ears, making me jump on my feet.

It shocked me senseless as I moved on my feet and found myself alone in the washroom. I hadn't heard anyone else in my mind except Dastien.

I rushed to the door and grabbed the door knob. I twisted it and froze in dread. It was locked, "Mom!" I slapped my hand on the door and pulled the doorknob. I waited but there was no response, "Mom! The door is stuck. Open it, please" I yelped out loud, panicking. Still, no response. The washroom was looking nothing more than a horror house, "Silver! Betty! Drake! Jas! Can anybody hear me? The door is locked." I kept hitting my hand.

I felt tears in my eyes. I let out a squeal when something brushed my back. I whirled quickly and found no one. My heart was drumming loud.

"Why are you scared?" I shivered following the source of the husky voice. My eyes widened in terror when I saw a tall figure in a white cloak. He was covered from head to toe.

A silence gap tore from my lips, I pushed myself away from him. He was standing in the center of the washroom. No matter where I go he never seemed far.

"What do you expect when someone shows up in your washroom unannounced?" I pressed my back to the wall. I was praying for him to not come near me. He shifted on his feet. I shrank back in terror, "Stay where you're." I squealed. I wanted to look at the door but it would be stupidity to avert my eyes. Though, a little part of me wasn't frightened. I'm stupid. I should be scared, clawing at the walls.

"Hm," I heard him weakly as he took a step back.

I lowered my chin, trying to peer under his hood.

"So curious to see me, Chérie." He whispered.

I stared at him in shock. Dastien used this word for me, "Dastien," I took a tread forward. A part of me was pulling me back, saying that he wasn't.

I heard his soft laugh. He did not seem a threat. Who was I kidding? He came into the washroom. God knows... How and from where?

He muttered something in a foreign language. I stared at him with equal parts of fear and astonishment, "Did Dastien send you to stop me?" I asked him.

"Yes," he nodded his head, "I'm his friend, Darius." He said.

"Shouldn't you knock at the door and wait for me in the room or hall?" I gave him a petulant glare.

"Accept my apology, Queen Emersyn." He bowed his head.

I scowled at him, "I'm not a queen," I spun to the door. It was still locked as I pulled it to open, "How did you do this?" I frowned at him, twirling on my heels.

He waved his hand in the air. His hand seemed strong. It hid behind the full sleeves of his cloak again as he lowered them.

Turning, I tried the doorknob. It opened. I let out a slow breath. He didn't need to know how nervous and frightened I was.

"Did he retire, Burt?" I asked, "I didn't see him after that hellhounds..." I trailed off.

"Hellhounds!" His voice was full of shock.

The atmosphere steered to something spooky to shock. Didn't Burt tell him? But why?

"Where's Burt? Is he hurt?" I asked him. I was worried about him. He might be a good fighter but he was innocent, away from all cunning and evilness.

"He's fine, for now. "

"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked. Horror grasped me.

"Stay with your family." There was an authority in his voice. It quite shocked me.

He is his friend. It's okay. I told myself.

My eyes widened for a minute and my lips parted in shock. He vanished into thin air with the wave of his hand, "Hi, where did you go?" I said out loud.

The door of my room swung open. Luke stared at me in confusion, "Are you alright? I heard you shouting." His brows pulled together. His eyes darted around.

"Yes, I'm not finding my kit." I told him. It wasn't a complete lie. He couldn't know this.

He nodded and turned to the door, "Mom is waiting for you." He said.

"Okay, I'll be right back." I said.

Strange! I was beating on the door and no one heard me, no one felt my fear. He must have used his magic. I didn't ask him Who was he? Next time. Shit! Why didn't I ask about Dastien? I'm a stupid one!
