Fire Wolf Series

Chapter 83

Ch. 83 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

We walked for about an hour. We parked our cars before the beginning of the jungle. The road was narrowed. The trees got thicker. I was confused about the distraction. I was following them behind the torch lights. Edward was holding Elizabeth's hand.

"Why do all supernatural beings pick to be in the jungle?" I asked, snorting.

"It's safe, away from humans." Drake said.

"I don't think so. We can be dangerous in any way," I said.

"Better. Keep distance. They're not supposed to know about us." Jasper said, in a serious way.

I didn't say a word and kept walking. The silence was giving me a spooky feeling. Mr. Wolf offered me the job. It clearly explained, they knew about me. They knew everything. But they are scared of the consequences. I did not want to think about it. That was in the past.

The path was so quiet. My gaze was turning every time to my wrist. It was a relief to know that there was no danger around me. The rustling of dead leaves beneath our feet could be heard. It just increased dread in the air.

I stopped walking when I heard the sound of rustling, it lasted longer. I looked around. It went dead silent. My gaze flipped around again.

They must have heard it too as they skidded to abruptly stop. Drake held my hand immediately, pushing me behind him. They turned the torch lights off, making the surroundings more spooky for me. Fear licked its way up my spine, enclosing it in the dark. They could see in the dark. I blinked many times. I heard a howl in the air. I stepped closer to my brother with a shudder.

Hellhounds! I was scared to voice my words.

Elizabeth stepped forward. Without wasting time, she raised her hands in the air and murmured something under her breath.

I just stared around in fear expecting the beasts to attack us from anywhere.

"We shouldn't stop." Elizabeth murmured, a moment later.

"Come," Drake held my hand and made me walk with him.

Elizabeth and Silver walked ahead of us. Edward and Jasper are behind me. I was tense with every step plucking forward.

"Did you enchant?" I asked her finally in a whisper.

"You haven't noticed your bracelet, Em." Silver whispered.

My eyes jerked down at my wrist. It was visible clearly. I panicked. I would have stopped walking if Drake had not held my hand, "Hellhounds," I whispered in fear. Goosebumps rippled across my skin.

"We don't know." Elizabeth sighed, "Keep walking. We're not far away."

They could see in the dark clearly with their werewolf eyes. I didn't think but I could see without torches too. But I liked things around me colorful instead of black and white.

My feet were aching when they halted. I was staring at the dark path. It was less spooky than my surroundings.

When I lifted my chin. I found myself in front of an old wooden door. I fought the rising panic in my chest. What was a light angel doing in the middle of the deep forest? I was grateful that I didn't hear another howling. I didn't want to face dark creatures again.

My gaze darted to the dark side of the forest, the moonlight was hardly spread there. I stifled a shudder when I saw a shadow moving.

The heavy oak door opened with a loud creak. I blinked and the shadow disappeared.

"We're here to see, Zadkiel." Edward said.

"Yes, Mr. Morris. Master is expecting you. Please, come in."

"Emma," Drake shook me to have my attention. I was trying to find the shadow that was following us. I wasn't assured.

I stopped looking for him and glanced at my brother, "I saw someone there,"

"This wood is full of mysterious creatures, Miss." The footman said. He was the taller and broader-shouldered man I had ever seen.

A sudden pang tightened my chest. My eyes shot to the man in terror but I nodded and walked in the stone house.

"Are you alright?" Silver asked in a whisper as she watched my pale face.

I kept the answer for later and nodded my head mutely. The dread inside me didn't allow me to enjoy the comfort of a beautiful place around me. I was looking for windows or any place where we couldn't be attacked easily.

I forced myself to take a deep breath and calm myself. My gaze was looking for a person with white wings if I weren't wrong about Angels.

We were welcomed to a sitting place. My eyes were glued to the door. But I couldn't ignore the crystal chandeliers hanging on the fifteen feet high ceiling. I was glad that Edward offered to sit near the hearth. Only I was wearing warm clothes.

I got on my feet as I couldn't just sit calm when I knew I saw someone out in the dark. My bracelet never lied. I gazed at my wrist. It wasn't visible now. It was a relief for now.

I walked over to the bookcase.

They are scared of only the fire of the Dark Realm. Only a king can generate it.

" You won't get the book here, Miss Nelson." My head turned to hear a soft voice from behind me.

A cheerful face was glancing at me. He was gripping his round glass in one hand. He strode forward. He was a foot taller than me. He wasn't looking like any angel but the upcoming model. I glanced over his shoulders for his wings. But I could see nothing.

His smile broadened, "I thought angels have wings." I muttered, feeling awkward.

"We have," He said, spreading his pure white wings over his head.

I gasped. I stared at his wings with parted lips and shock over my face. I wanted to move closer and touched them. They looked puffy and soft. Edward cleared his throat. When I glanced at him. I saw him pinning me with his eyes, telling me -it's rude to stare.

"Beautiful wings," I smiled, ignoring him. He always irritated me. I was enduring him because of my friend. Who wanted his option? Huh.

He nodded with a smile. This must be a common compliment for him.

"Well," He turned to the door, "It was a pleasure to meet you, Miss Dawson. See you in the academy after the weekend." He paused to look at the Alphas, "Mr. Morris, please don't go without tea." He tipped his chin.

"Thank you, " He tipped his chin back.

He didn't look back at us as he strode out of the hall

Perplexed, I glanced at the empty space where he was standing, "What was that?" I asked.

"He wanted to make sure we are not some kind of scoundrels, making a fool of him." Drake said.

I nodded, plucking my gaze at my friends. We could have a video call. Now we have to cross the spooky wood again to go back home.

The doorman brought the tray, I could see an old-fashioned teapot and cups.

"Come," Silver said, walking over to the three-seater sofa.

I gave her a bored expression. I was expecting him to give me some information, but he just went away leaving his guests with his doorman. I hauled myself lazily toward the sofa. I plopped down. The doorman offered us tea and cookies without a word.

I glanced at Drake's wristwatch. It was nine o'clock, "I can't believe it. His doorman opened a portal for us." I said out loud.

"It's a good thing. We reached home soon." Elizabeth beamed, looking at us.

"Yeah, I hope he opens the portal next time when we visit the academy." Silver sighed heavily.

"He wasn't just a doorman. He's an angel." Jasper said.

"I couldn't see his wings. You should have told me this before. I would have asked him to show his wings." I frowned.

The front door opened. Luke and Ava walked out of the house. Their gazes met us, "Come so soon Alpha." Luke asked Jasper.

"Angels can open a portal, too." He said with a smirk

"Cool," His smile was genuine, "Can I come with you next time?" He asked, advancing his steps forward. Excitement could be seen on his face.

"Complete your training first. We can't babysit more than one person right now, " Edward said, striding toward his car.

Avelyn chuckled. She covered her mouth with her hand, when Drake arched his eyebrows at her.

I glared at his back, "I don't want him with us, next time."

"I'll go where my mate will go," He said, over his shoulder.

"She'll come without you or she won't come at all." I snapped.

"Ignore him. Wanna join us?" Luke asked.

My jaw dropped, "Are you asking me?" I asked in disbelief.

He shrugged his shoulders, "Look! I'm sorry. I shouldn't treat you badly. Our parents are married. You are family." He paused looking at me. He seemed helpless.

That was enough for me, "I got it. You don't have anything bad for me." I smiled.

He released a long sigh, closing his eyes, "So, club. Girls?" He asked with a smile, darting his gaze on us.

"I don't mind if you guys are not tired." My gaze turned back to them.

"I need to go there," Elizabeth held my hand and pulled me toward the car.

"What happened to you now?" I rolled my eyes.

"I'm driving." Silver announced, demanding the car's keys from Jasper.

He dropped the keys immediately on her opened palm, "My guards are going with you. I'm off. Good night, everyone." He said, striding toward his car.

"Bye, see you in the morning, brother." I waved my hand in the air, Betty was still tugging me with her, "Betty. What's wrong with you?" I tried to pull my hand back.

"Edward shouldn't say that." She said.

"Yeah, leave my hand," I told her. Her palm was impossibly warm against my wrist.

"And you shouldn't say that too. Take your words back." She asked, spinning to me reaching near the car.

"No," I shook my head, thinning my lips, "I hate your boyfriend," I opened the back seat door.

She gasped, "You can't be serious." Her gaze followed me. Her eyes were big in shock.

"I'm not smiling," I fully turned my face to her and pointed at my lips with my index finger.

"Betty, get in the car or we are leaving you here." Silver said, getting in the car next to me. Wasn't she going to drive?

She got in the car but she couldn't hold back the look. She glared at us.

"I hate Edward too," Silver said when she didn't stop giving us her glare.

She gasped, opening her mouth, "Betty, you need to stop doing this." Ava said, pushing her in so she could fit too. We were slim, so it wasn't any problem, "That's making you fat." She blurted.

We chuckled at her joke. Elizabeth's gaze turned to us, "That's not funny, Ava." She shouted.

"That was so funny," Silver giggled.

"Edward shouldn't say this to her." She yelled, pushing me to Silver's side.

Ava sat in and closed the door. Luke ignited the car and Drake put on the seatbelt.

"That feels better." Drake said.

We chuckled but also took Betty in an embrace.

We hurried inside the club. First, the loud sound of music and then a strong smell of alcohol hit me. I smiled. I hardly had lived this life. I didn't know. What would tomorrow bring for me? I was going to enjoy every single second of my life. A little shiver rocketed up my spine when I saw some giant shifters, their gaze following me. Drake curled his arm around my shoulder like a protective brother.

"Me too," Ava said, coming to his second side.

"Is she allowed here?" I arched my brows.

"Yes, we are wolves, not humans. See!" She pointed at the second side of the club. I could see groups of people her age.

"Ok, but no drink," I said.

"I don't allow it either." Drake turned his gaze at her.

She nodded immediately and rushed forward, waving at the group of her aged people. They waved back. I watched them closely, what were they holding? I recognized her two friends immediately. They waved at me, gripping a giant smile on their faces.

"Her friends are good. You can trust them." Luke said.

I nodded immediately, waving at them. I tried to comprehend him. He wasn't evil. I knew it. Still, he hated me. What was he frightened of?

"Oh! Leave her and find someone else, Luke '' Silver tilted her head to the side of her, where a group of girls were watching every step taken by the Alpha and future Beta of their pack.

I giggle, "Good luck, brothers." I walked over to the Dance floor with Elizabeth and Silver.

Elizabeth was quiet. She moved her body gradually to the music. I lifted my brows at Silver, questioning her silently.

"Get over, Bet." Silver bumped her shoulder over her.

She wrapped her arms around Silver, "Should I drink?" She asked.

"No, your cold-hearted boyfriend would taunt us whenever he would see it fit," I said.

"He would taunt, if it wouldn't fit anyways. I wish..." Silver glanced at me.

I had seen him around Dastien. He's so calm.

I shook my head. My thoughts were going to hurt me. I looked around me. The music was low, not very low, shifters were dancing, enjoying themselves with their partners, and friends.

I shook my head. My thoughts were going to hurt me. I looked around me. The music was low, not very low, shifters were dancing, enjoying themselves with their partners, and friends.

My gaze caught a dark figure in the corner of the gargantuan hall. I could never forget I saw him in the woods when we were visiting the light angel. His presence gave me goosebumps and fear. Was he following us? But didn't we use the portal to return home? Which seemed impossible to him to follow us.

"Hey," Luke held his hand in front of me with orange juice.

I glanced up at him, my brows shot up, "You look as if you have seen a ghost." He said near my ear.

I was grateful that my hearing ability was good these days. I could bet his words were only between us. They didn't need to know about the hooded figure and spoiled the little good time before going to Academy.

I took it from him. Silver was always overprotective. She took the glass eyeing Luke. After sniffing she shoved it in my hand and gave a full nod. She ignored Luke.

"Sorry, she's protective after what Samantha did." I muttered.

He looked as he was studying me, "Are you sure? Nothing is worrying you. You can tell Drake if you don't trust..." He trailed off.

I watched over his shoulder. Drake was sipping from a glass. I did not know anything about the drinks. He wasn't drinking for sure.

I shook my head, "Just nervous. Nothing else. Thanks," I lifted the glass up and sipped from it.

He nodded, turning back to the counter as he ordered for himself. A boy, I haven't seen clapped on his shoulder with a stupid grin. They must be his friends. I turned to my friends. I was safe around them.
