Chapter 118

Ch. 118 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

After an hour of driving, Aidan pulled the car in front of the door. Getting out it, I punched the code that Dad had given me. The door opened.

I walked around the car. There were roses, Basil, herbs, and all kinds of strong scents that could block my scent. I didn't want them to find me out. My phone was also switched off.

I got in the car and he drove it inside. The door locked behind us automatically.

"They might be thinking we are in love and we eloped." He chuckled.

I giggled. "They're going to kill you then. Better you run away." I told him laughing.

His smile dropped. "I couldn't leave you alone. That's what friends do. " He scanned the garden and pulled the car in front of the double wooden door.

"If Dad has sent me here. I'm safe." I told him.

"We are not from the normal world. These expensive security systems couldn't save you from the danger of living in our world. Anyone could attack you!" He was looking damn serious.

"Because of this?" I trapped my finger on my cheek.

He didn't say a word and took the stairs to reach the door. I followed him. I punched the code again and the door unlocked.

He pushed the door. "Not bad," He muttered.

"Seriously, you don't need to stay. I don't want you in any trouble." I told him, walking in the living room.

It was large in size, and a nine-seater sofa set was enclosing the glass table.

"Are you hungry? I can cook for us." Aidan suggested, walking toward the open kitchen.

"No, but please don't hold yourself back. Go on. I'll be in my room." I took the stairs.

He arched his brows. "Have you been here before?" He asked.

"No, but I know where my room would be if Dad had purchased this property." I took the stairs and turned to the left.

"Are you sure?" I heard him.

"Yes, I hope you'll find a room downstairs," I told him.

"I just need a couch and television." I heard his faint voice.

Twisting the doorknob, I pushed it wide. The room was smaller than my room back in the house. Dad always prepared a room for his late daughter and he never minded me using her things and room. Now, I know, why? I still couldn't believe this. They hid this from me. But why? To know all this, I have to find the details of her life. It was only Sisily who knew her.

"Oh my my! Jace gave me the book. That could help me. But I wasn't certain now." I lifted my hand to rub my cheek. I pulled the sleeve of my top and frowned at the mark. Everything has changed after coming here. Jace also doesn't want me to know this. The book won't be much help.

I laid back. The library always carried the details of legends. From the previous King's I would know something about her. I always wanted to know her, but my family always prevented me. Strange, was this rule for only me? Because, Aidan is close to my age but he has seen her picture and knows a lot of things about them.

I recline my head on the pillow. The picture of them kept flashing in the back of my head. How could she be happy with him? Love makes you do stupid things. I shouldn't judge her. Her life is her choice. I would never go near a person whose body burns like it's a normal thing.

It seemed like hours had passed but I couldn't sleep. My eyes were closed. I was still waiting for the sleep to engulf me.

Frustrated, I opened my eyes. My face whitened seeing a figure sitting next to me on the mattress.

My lips parted to scream but his large hand covered my mouth. My hands shot to his hand to push it away.

I didn't realize it was dark in the room. I didn't stop struggling until he drew his face closer. The moonlight made him visible. I didn't turn the light off.

I prolonged my hand to the nightstand to turn it on.

His head tilted slightly as he followed it. He was agile. He turned on the lamp that was hanging over my head.

I held his hand and pushed it away. He didn't stop me and kept his golden eyes on me. They were glowing under the dim light.

I took a couple of deep breaths before speaking. "What are you doing in my room, in my house?" I asked, keeping my voice low.

I couldn't hear the television. It was clear he had slept.

"What are you doing here?" He gritted his teeth.

Was he insane? "It's my dad's house?"

He stared at me with annoyance and anger filled his gaze. "What is that witch doing here with you? Is he your lover?"

My eyes widened in shock. I lifted my hand to hit him. He grasped it in his hand, enclosing his grip. "Shut up. He must be in this room." I clamped my lips together. "You know what. You're no one to poke your nose in my matter. Get out of my room. "

His jaw clenched. No one would have talked to him like this ever. He earned it. "I'm your alpha. You'll do as I ask you to."

"You must be kidding me. No one is my alpha. I'm a free soul and a human." I yanked my hand to get free from his deadly grip.

His hand unclasped my hand and curled around my arm as he yanked me to his chest. "What are you doing here? Damn, answer me." He seethed.

I was still feeling pain. My lower lips began to tremble. "My brother was upset with me. Sisily was with me. We got late to come home." I told him half the truth. He didn't need to know that I visited the witch library and saw the Dark King and his mate's picture together.

His eyes softened and he withdrew his hand. "you're not safe out here." I felt regret in his voice.

"I'm not safe anywhere." It wasn't a taunt to him. The dark was everywhere. I wouldn't be safe if the crawling thing wanted to attack me.

"I can protect you better if you'll be around me or your brothers and family members." He got on his feet.

I didn't want to agree with him. But it was true. "Please, don't turn off the lights again. I don't like the dark." Particularly, after the attacks on me under the dark.

"I was waiting for it." He said.

Horror clenched my stomach and I stared at him in awe. "You must be kidding me."

He shook his head irritating me more.

"Get out of my room. I have classes in the morning." I slip under the comforter. Hoping he would pick the hint.

He folded his arms over his muscular chest and leaned against the wall. "Good night."

I narrowed my eyes on him. "If you want to hear it. I don't mind saying it again. Get out." I said.

"Not happening. If you're considering spending the night here, it won't happen until you return to the academy." His bossy tone irked me.

"It wouldn't matter to you if I die. I'm not even a shifter. I couldn't help you with anything. And by the way, my friend is downstairs. He can protect me and the house."

"Yes, I have seen. It has been more than an hour for me to be in your room. He did not think to check on you or knock on the door. Fucking friend." He muttered the last word, angrily.

"Breaking news!" I gave him a fake excited look on my face. "And you just called him my lover." Geez! His words are punching in the guts.

His forehead creased but he did not utter anything further. Shrugging my shoulder, I rested my head back and closed my eyes. I couldn't believe he was in my room to protect me when I wasn't his responsibility to carry.

I perceived his presence in the room strange but in a good way. It took me seconds to fall asleep. Perhaps my head knows I would be safe with the new king.
