We got up as well. I gave an encouraging smile to my friend. She was wringing her hands together. Worry was clearly written over her face.
"Why did I agree to bring you with me?" He snorted.
"Because, I'm Beta's daughter." She turned to Sisily and took her in an embrace. "My mother is gonna love you."
"Really?" Sisily asked with big eyes.
"See it yourself." Pulling back, she turned to face Jace. "Bring your mate home, brother."
"Next weekend. Promise." Jace's gaze swiped over Everly's face and deterred over his mate.
Whatever he said in her head, she blushed and cast her head low shyly.
"Another human," Luke rolled his eyes and turned to the door. Horror clung to his face as he froze on his feet, staring ahead without blinking.
His eyes narrowed on Luke as he gave him a hard stare.
Luke bowed his head. I never saw him scared. I'm not a bad sister but I want to laugh.
I scurried ahead and wrapped my hands around his wrist. " Thank you for coming." I pulled him in the hall. " You've already met Luke. She's my sister, Everly."
Everly bowed her head. "Thank you for saving my sister's life." She said.
"Why are you doing this?" I frowned slightly, mostly in confusion.
Everly smiled. "He's our king." Her eyes turned at him again. "I know I don't need to say it but she's our favorite member of the familia. Please, take good care of her. My mother asked me to say it to you. She wanted to come but..." Her eyes swiped over me.
"She got my words." He said.
I looked back at my mate and arched my brows. " It felt like I'm standing in a King's court."
"Em, you can't say so." Everly gasped which shocked me. She never do gasp thing or shows her expressions so easily.
I rolled my eyes. I scurried forward and gave a quick embrace to Luke. "You don't have to be a bully all the time."
He sighed softly out. "I can't help my personality. You know me, kid." He muttered.
I gazed up at him. "I hope you find your mate soon. She has a lot of work to do on you."
He smirked and curled his arm around my shoulder. "Are you happy, little sister?" He asked in a whisper.
I nodded. "I'm just scared of the dark. Nothing else." I told him.
"Old bad habit." He sighed out. "We should be going, Everly. We have to be in the pack meeting." He patted my shoulder and withdrew his hand.
He's good from the inside. But he just couldn't help some of his habits.
"Alright," She took me in a tight hug." I have to tell you something, but next time." She murmured in my ear.
Drawing back, I glanced at her in confusion. She gestured with her eyes to look down. I peered down and my gaze rested on her open palm. I saw a small cut.
My eyes were as big as saucers. "I'll call you." She said.
Still shocked, I nodded my head. "Okay," I forced the word out.
She waved at me and strolled over to the door with Luke.
"You look shocked." Jasper asked.
"She gave me a surprise. And now suddenly she's going back. It was a short meeting." I told him. Though, my shock's reason was something else.
"Wanna go out for a walk." Darkice asked.
"Yes, please." I went over to the door.
Okay, she's mated. Why didn't she tell me? Does Mom know? Why didn't she tell me in front of brothers? It meant they didn't know. Why would she hide from them? Didn't they smell her mated bond?
"Call her later." He asked.
My head turned to him. "You saw it?" I asked.
"It'll cause you a headache." He said.
It's already hurting. He doesn't need to know.
I nodded my head. He curled his arm around me. It felt good. I put my head on his chest.
"Are you truly alright with this? I have to put on heels to reach your shoulder." My headache was getting worse.
"I wouldn't have suggested this." He opened his palm. The same cut could be seen on his palm too.
"And you can talk in my head." The corners of my lips curled up as I looked up at him.
"You can do that too." He said, running his fingers through my hair.
My brows shot up. "I don't know. But you can hear me. I could tell that." I told him.
His smile made me feel better despite my headache that was going to kill me.
"Yes, I can hear you." Amusement played in his eyes. "Go and take a nap. It would help with your head." His fingers massage my scalp where it was hurting so much.
I tiptoed and brushed my lips on his chin. His fingers slightly twitched but he let them go immediately.
"If you're not busy, can we meet again?" I asked.
"Sure, you'll hear me here." He kissed my head.
Blushing, I stepped away from him to go back home. I would have hardly taken a few steps If I hadn't felt the earth moving beneath my feet. I halted. "Is it an earthquake?" I shouted out loud.
Before I could hear him answering me, I heard loud shouts and students running out of their dorms and some of them were shifting and began to howl. It was the weekend, and most of the students were out of the academy.
My lips parted in horror as I saw a big black hole begin to swirl in front of me on the grassland.
A hand touched my arm and I flinched away from him in shock and fear. My eyes met his fire-flashing eyes. His hand wrapped around my upper arm. He pulled me behind him. His arm was curling around me securely.
"What are they?" The hair along the back of my neck stood to attention in the warning.
"Fucking piece of shits don't die." I heard someone shouting in exasperation.
"They taste like venom." Another shout filled the tense air.
I heard loud shouts of fear, many comments over these things, and complaints that they weren't dying.
I couldn't peel my eyes away from the black hole. Fear gripped my bones when I saw a shadow coming out of it.
It terrified me more when my eyes lifted up at the sky. The sun was covered with the darkest clouds. Am I in my nightmare?
After staring at it I realized they were shadows covering the whole sky. Fear raced through me.
"Darkice, they're not clouds." I pointed my finger at the sky.
"They're shadow creatures." He said darkly and my heart thumped an uneven beat. " What are they doing here?" He murmured the last sentence to himself.
"We can't kill them, King. They divide into two pieces. They are unkillable." My head jerked to my left.
Daniel and Carlos were breathing hard. Their shirts were gone. They must be in their wolf form.
His eyes were on the black hole ahead of us. He wasn't even blinking. It was getting louder with horrible screams and bigger.
My headache is worse now. Tremors of fear were running through my body.
Silver, Elizabeth, Edward, and Alessandro came rushing to his side. Alessandro nodded his head and stepped away from them.
They were talking in their heads. Abruptly, it all went silent. The torches in the student's hands weren't enough to break the darkness. I tried to look for my brothers. I couldn't get a glimpse.
I didn't realize I was clinging to him. I had faced worse things in the dark before. I didn't want anything again. I saw wings shining under the dim light of torches. They were faes, their wings were of different colors and darkness couldn't reduce their beauty. Their hands were lifted up in the sky. Whatever they were doing it was keeping the creatures away.
Fear licked its way up my spine, seeing dark shadow creatures attacking us. But no one was shifting or trying to kill them. It was useless as killing them just increased their numbers.
"Em," Silver held me by the arm and pulled me away from him.
Horror shone in my eyes. "What are you doing?" I almost squealed, pulling myself away from her, trying to take me away from my safe zone.
His head turned to me. 'Don't fight.' I heard him in my head.
She pulled me away from him. I was twenty feet away. Everyone Stepped back from him.
Fear raced through me with every step away from him, making my heart pound. Carlos and Daniel shifted. I couldn't see clearly.
My body trembled in terror as all the wolves started howling at the sky. I have to put my hands against my ears to block it.
My gaze darted on him. His hands were slightly away from his body, his palms opened, facing the earth.
His palms glowed bright like fire. Then it stuck to me what he was going to do. He has done it before. He has saved me before. Now, it was the entire academy.
A blast of fire came out of his hands and he lifted them up to the sky. It took only a few seconds for the sunrays to break through the darkness.
The fire emitting in front of his hands was getting large in size as it was limitless. I can feel the heat. My body felt heavy to me. The air around me was getting very hot for me to bear. A small squeal left Silver's throat and she yanked her hand away from me.
She stared at her hand in shock. The dark was disappearing. I could see her hand clearly. Her hand was burnt, that one that was holding me.
I stared at my hand as I felt a burning sensation in my body, particularly my hand. The mark on my palm was burning red. Like magma was peering at me from the crack of black Rock.
I wanted to complain to him. I lifted my chin and glanced at him. How could he create so much fire just by lifting his hand in the air?
The dark disappeared around us. There was no creature around anywhere, the holes in the earth had vanished.
His hands returned to his side as his fire-burning eyes darted around. From the relief on all faces, I didn't need to guess. The danger was gone.
His eyes were two burning magma as they stopped on me. My body was heavier, burning like I was in a pressure cooker.
Behind him, I saw Alessandro saying something. I couldn't catch a word. An alarm bell rang out. I concentrated on hearing something.
"She's burning. She burnt my hand." I heard a weak voice.
I was certain it was my body, not the world around me, that was spinning. His hands curled around my upper arms.
The spinning stopped. I stumbled a step forward and rested my head on his chest.
I don't know what was happening to me. But nothing could feel better than being with him now.
His arm came around my waist, taking my weight. I relaxed, sighing. It took my whole power to lift my hand.
It landed on his arm. Unbelievably, his skin's temperature was normal. How did he do this? He wasn't burning like fire right now. His body temperature was normal.
My hand slid on his wrists to his hand. Our half-ceremony marks were the same, like burning magma from the crack of the rock.
'Your body is burning.' I heard him in my head.
"I'm not feeling well." My voice was heavy.
He took my hand and pressed his thumb on the mark. I felt a strong rush of powers passing through my body.
'Are you okay now?' I heard him in my head again.
I nodded glancing up at him. "How did you do it and what happened to me?" I asked.
'You ask too many questions. Let's get you back in the room.'
"Silver, your hand?" I asked, turning to her.
"It will be fine." She said in an assuring voice.
Will? Her healing power should heal her till now. "Show me." I asked.
Alessandro was on her side. He rested his hand on her shoulder. I registered pain disappearing from her face.
"I'll take care of it." Elizabeth said.
I shook my head. I hurt her. It was clear from their reactions. "Let me see it, please." I was aware that if her skin burnt from the fire of the King's power it would take time to heal and it would be very painful.
They were looking hesitant. It cleared my doubt.
I whirled to look at him. "Can't you heal her?" I asked.
"He can't if she's not his mate." Someone said from the crowd.
My gaze snapped to him. I recognized him. He was the alpha of the local pack. He's Chris.
"It would take me a few minutes to heal her." Elizabeth said.
'You can trust them. She'll be fine.'
I nodded as I looked at him. "I'm sorry." I said to Silver and let him take me away from them.
I have disappointment all over my face as I climb the stairs of my room. Many questions were running in my head. I glanced at him and was hoping he would answer.
"At least, you can explain." I said, finally breaking the silence. I got the time now, he would leave me alone in the room and go back to his friends.
"They were shadows from the dark world." He spoke softly.
"You mean dark realm?" I asked.
He pushed open the door of my room and shook his head. "It's the darkest place in the realm. They are calm creatures, they never do harm to anyone. That's the reason it's impossible to kill them. "
"Until now?" I asked. He closed the door behind us.
"Something changed years ago. The attack went frequent when the curse was going to kill the queen. After their death, everything was sealed. Like protected from any harm."
"That means no attack?"
He nodded. "But after I turned five, I started seeing dark creatures. It was normal."
"Because, you're the future king?" I asked.
Another nod. "But, I also notice differences between them. Most of them were obeying me but some were rebels. I saw an actual one the day I saw you in that alley."
"And you saved me without knowing me. " Leaning forward, I placed my head on his shoulder.
"No, I knew, you're my mate." He said.
Drawing my head back, I arched my brows at him. "Still, you left me there without making conversation and you were going to reject me." My lips flattened.
"You are human. I didn't know a thing about you. After reaching home, I searched for you." He slid his hand on my cheek. I felt loved at the moment.
"Ha! That thing scared you." I touched the back of his hand.
"I was always thinking that Dastien couldn't protect his mate." His jaw locked.
"That's not true. He could live after her death and marry the other half of her."
"Yes, he loves her. Love makes you do things. I realized after seeing you." He shook his head.
I gasped. That meant. "D-o yo-u...?" I swallowed, not believing that I was hearing this. I love him. But I'm not certain about getting it back. Indeed, we shouldn't expect love-back. Love means giving and not expecting more in avenge.
The ghost of a smile made him more handsome. "Yes, we shouldn't expect anything from our partner when we are in love."
I gasped loudly and looked at him with big eyes. "Did you? Did you hear me in your head?"
"All the time?" he chuckled.
"What?" I shouted in shock.
"By the way, they can't smell our kissing, getting intimate. They would just get a strong scent of me, telling them you're mine." He brushed his knuckles softly on my cheek.
"Why didn't you tell me before?" I snorted. I don't like him reading my thoughts. Did he hear that I love him?
"Yes, I love you too." Forwarding, he kissed my lips.
My heart picked a race. My gaze stayed on him, there wasn't a hint of mocking or kidding. "You're not playing with my heart?" I asked. He was the same person who rejected me, though he knew from the first glance that he was attracted to me.
"I'm not gonna prove anything to you. You can trust me. Or not. It's all your choice." He told, intensely.
I slapped on his chest. He chuckled. "You're an arrogant king. You just said you love me too and now you're showing me attitude."
"It's not attitude, Vida. You're mine. You can't even keep yourself away from me."
"Overconfidence." I huffed and pushed myself away from his touch. Though, I hated to do it.
He smiled tilting his head to one side and he drew himself to his full height. His eyes stayed on me as he took steps back.
Fear gripped me. I knew what he was doing. I grabbed the pillow and propelled it at him with full force. "You're cruel in love. Has anyone told you?" I grabbed another one to throw on him.
He chuckled softly. "I didn't know. You're the one I fall for." His smile didn't waver.
Putting my feet on the carpet, I forwarded and enveloped my arms around him. "If you dare to use the reject word ever for me. I'm gonna make your life hell. I might not be powerful but I will do it." My throat is clogged. I wasn't going to cry.
His arms locked around me and he placed his chin on my head. 'I know you can.'
"How can I speak to you by speaking out loud? You do this a lot with your Alpha team members. Head talking. " He might find it difficult to talk to me as he has to speak all the time.
He laughed and his chest rumbled softly. 'Think about me and say.'
'Very smart! You already know what I'm thinking in my head. Shouldn't you alert me?' I closed my eyes as I listened to his heart beating softly.
'How would I know that you already like me.'
I was fatigued but I want him to stay. His people needed him out. Reluctantly, I broke the hug. "They must be waiting for you."
'I'l
l meet them after thirty minutes. I'm staying.'
Smiling, I walked over to the mattress pulling him with me. If he wanted I wouldn't be able to move him.
He tugged the comforter over me. I curled my arm around his waist, pressing my face to his side. It didn't take much to drift off.
