Chapter 116

Ch. 116 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

There were details about everyone in the MegaHis but nothing about his dark world and the king. I had checked all my books.

The door to my room opened. I didn't need to know who walked in uninvited. "Good, you're awake. Come downstairs." My mother said.

I thought she was going to stay with her sister but here she was. "I'm staying at Mother's place. I'll dine with her." I told her as I turned the page. My eyes darted on the words.

King Aragon was a power cold one with the power that no one could match.

Abruptly, the book was yanked away from my hands and shut with a bang. "Can't you forget that, princess? Lo siento." She muttered the last words and I couldn't get it.

"Why don't you leave me alone? So I could decide it for myself." I told her.

"Look at me while talking to me. I am understanding... "

"No, you don't understand a thing. You always want to control my life. I can't even choose my friends."

"That's not true."

"Sisily and Aidan are the first to be my friends. Seventeen years. You have kept everything away from what I desired the most."

"You're just assuming things."

"Really! Then why are you here?" I gazed at her. I regretted it. Her eyes shone with unshed tears. I hated myself for doing this to her.

"I care for you. I love you." She said in her heavy voice.

"But not enough to let me live my life in my ways," I muttered.

"You don't know a thing." She sighed.

"I don't know." The air was getting suffocating for me. I climbed down the bed and headed out of the room.

"Ember, come back to your room. I'm still talking to you." I heard her

"Please, don't follow me." My lips barely moved.

Her wolf ears would have picked my voice. I felt my brothers' eyes on me. I shook my head clearly telling them to not follow me. I wanted to be alone.

I jogged out of the house. I was looking at the grass waiting for the cobblestone path. Two shining pairs of black shoes came into view and I hit my head on something hard.

I stumbled as I felt the pain in my head. Two hands wrapped around my upper arms, saving me from falling. Did he do this intentionally? My eyes rose to scold him. My gaze met the icy cold ones. No doubt. He did.

"You should watch your steps." He said

"I could say the same thing. Strange! Your wolf eyes couldn't see me."

"Because you don't exist in my world." Edward snapped.

I stared at him in disbelief, shock, and then anger coursed through my body. "What's your problem?"

"Right now, it's you. Leave my way." He said,

"You're a weirdo." I ran on the opposite side, not looking back at him. My breathing turned heavy.

When I looked ahead, the beautiful meadow came into view. Just thinking of him made a chill run down my spine. He was furious in class. But why? Things were going according to him.

I withdrew my feet. I could hear water running. But I wasn't letting it tempt me again. He would kill me this time.

I did not stop walking aimlessly. The sun was down and the dark was taking over. Goosebumps rippled through my neck and arms recalling the night in the club. I still didn't know what that thing was in the dark. I didn't know who saved me.

Fear circulated throughout my body. My feelings halted. The street light was off. A spot was completely pitch dark ahead of me. There wasn't a sign of light. It scared me. Isn't it strange and spooky? There should be at least dim light. I patted my jeans pocket. But I forgot my phone in the room.

Once I had known the danger and terror to be in the complete dark. I wasn't going to risk it again. I stayed there, staring at the dark.

My body trembled as I felt something crawling over me. My eyes snapped at my feet. There was nothing. I was under the streetlamp. What if it went off like last time? Scared, I darted my eyes around. The place was looking unnaturally quiet. I didn't like this. Why wasn't anyone patrolling the land? Was I in his personal property? No! I didn't run that fast. It must be barely past five minutes. How could it be so dark?

I flipped my hair over my shoulder to distract myself from the fear. But it was getting worse. Tears pooled in my eyes. "Can anyone hear me? I lost my way back home." I waited for a reply but nothing. Wolf could listen from afar.

Wiping my cheeks, I decided to take steps forward. It was a little distance. I would close my eyes and run some steps until I reached under the lamp that was working.

I took a couple of breaths until I was prepared to move forward through the dark. The idea seemed childish but it was the only way to overcome my fear.

Heaving a deep sigh, I closed my eyes and broke into a run. My heart was drumming in my chest, goosebumps covered my skin in terror.

I let out a long exhale when I felt light over my closed eyes. I made it. Gradually I opened my eyes.

I let out a squeak of horror. I stepped back hoping to pull myself wherever I was. Something hit my anklet and I fell hard in my arse.

My palms hit the black sand. I had not seen such a horrible place. The castle in front of me was burnt, coal black. No color was around but a red and orange glow was falling over the place, making it visible.

I was whitened with fear. My eyes drifted around to find the source of light. I was moving then slowly. There was only dark. The place was badly burnt. The land was also burnt. How could it be? The place was cold.

My inside clenched in dread, finding a figure in the distance. His back was turned to me. His body was on fire. "Oh, no. Why are you burning yourself?" Everything was scorched around him. Did he cause all this?

He wasn't looking frightened of fire. He wasn't screaming, wasn't yelling for help. Was it a statue? Yes, but why would anyone create such a place? What is this place? I should reach under the lamp, not here. Is it a nightmare?

My hands began to shiver in terror. "H-ello, c-an you h-elp me, please? I don't know how I got here." Tears of dread slithered down my cheeks.

It could be another nightmare with open eyes. How could this be real? No one was going to help me. I was trapped here. My tears didn't stop.

I looked at the statue again. It was burning. I pushed myself on my feet. "Is anybody around me? I lost my way back home." My tone was breaking with fear taking over me.

'Close your eyes and you'll see your house when you open them.'

I let out a yelp in terror hearing a clear deep voice in my head. My sobbing broke the silence. I looked around with my teary eyes, nibbling on my lower lip. There was no one. I should hear voices through my ears, not in my head. Not until he's my mate.

"Hi," I began to sob. He could be a powerful person. My teary eyes darted around but it was only me and the burning statue. "I can't see you." I waited for him to say more but nothing. My eyes were turning to the statue, fire was burning bright around him illuminating the horrible place. "Please, say something." The silence and the dark was killing me

'Do as I say, mi vida.' His voice was soft this time.

" Who are you? Are you the same person who helped me in the dark alley?" I asked, darting my eyes around. Nothing was pleasant looking in this ghosted place. Only that statue that was burning continuously which was giving me comfort. I didn't want to know anything. Before the statue stopped spreading the light around him. I was ready to take the risk. I could do anything to get out of this haunted place.

I clenched my shivering hands to my stomach and closed my eyes. I felt tears running down. I was so scared of opening them. I didn't want to see myself in the ghosted black place or an unknown thing trying to crawl around me, trying to climb my body like I was a ladder.

I felt a hand on my shoulder. Terrified, I yanked myself away as a little sharp scream tore through my throat. My eyes were rounded in dread.

"I didn't mean to startle you, kiddo," Jace said, looking shocked

My lower lips began to tremble. I began to sob. I was so scared to move. He wasn't tricking me. He saved me one more time.

"We heard someone screaming."

"Why are you crying?" Jace took my face in his hands, forcing me to look up.

"I wasn't here. I closed my eyes and it was dark. I'm not getting anything. I'm. I'm.." I choked on my own tears clogging my throat.

"Emersyn, " Jasper curled his arm around my shoulder.

"I lost my way back home. It was dark, there was no light."

"Don't ask her anything. Take her in." Drake said, holding my hand. "She's cold and shivering."

I wasn't feeling cold, it was my fear. I clenched his hand. I didn't want him to go away.

"Don't think about anything. You're safe and home." Drake said.

"What happened to her? Did she scream? My baby is scared. " I heard heavy footsteps. She must be scared watching me in this condition. I couldn't look at her. I knew it would break her. She was afraid of finding me in this condition. That caused her to put restrictions on me.

"I lost my path." I told them. They were looking at me with worried eyes.

"I startled her accidentally. She's fine, Mom." Jace told her.

"Fine! Fine! Look at her. I can smell her fear in the air. Her fear is near to death-fear." She snapped at Jace.

"You'll scare her more. She needs rest, Mom." Drake told her softly.

She opened her arms for me. I took a step ahead and curled my arms around her stomach. I always felt safe with her. No one could protect her children better than a mother.

"I'm sorry, Mom. But you need to understand I have to face my problem. You can be there for me but you can't keep me away from my destiny." I tried hard to keep my voice from breaking. But I failed.

"Sweetie," She cupped my cheeks. "Sometimes, I forgot you've grown up. I...I..." She looked over my shoulders at them.

"We'll talk in the morning." Drake said.

"I'll stay with you in your room." Mother said looking hell worried.

"You should rest," Jace forwarded and took her to her room.

"I should get something to eat you." Drake said, turning to the kitchen.

I wasn't hungry but I couldn't deny it. I looked at Jasper. I needed to tell someone. Or I'd turn into a crazy person. "I..." I halted. I couldn't let my mother hear me. She didn't need to know my problems

Jasper tugged me toward his room and he closed the door behind us. "You can tell me anything. This room is soundproof."

"Why do you need such a room?" I stared at him.

He gestured at the couch. "I'll tell you when yo. ."

"Turn eighteen." I completed sniffing. I didn't want to know how he brought it into use.

"Nothing is like that, pumpkin." He said, taking the front couch.

The door opened and Drake strode in gripping the tray in one hand. He slid it on the table. His eyes were moving between us. They were talking in the head. He sat on the arm of the couch and held the glass for me.

"Drink it Then you can tell us anything." Drake said.

I grabbed it with both hands. My hands were still tremoring. Drake curled his hand around mine, helping me.

I didn't realize that my throat was parched. I took long sips gulping it through my dry throat. The sweet juice of fruits felt good on my tongue.

"You should eat." Jasper said. His eyes didn't peel off of me as he was trying to read my feelings. The frown of his forehead was telling it was complicated for him.

Drake took the glass and placed it on the table. He wasn't even making noise while putting It down.

"I'm hearing voices in my head." I said and they stopped dead, looking at me with their big eyes.

"Voices?" Drake asked with uncertainty.

I shook my head. "Voice. A male voice." I nibbled on my lower lip. I wanted to keep it to myself. But I trusted my brothers.

"You can trust us. Nothing to scare, kiddo." Drake said, sensing my fear.

"Do you remember taking us to the club back home?" I asked, looking at Jasper.

He nodded slightly. "You disappeared for two minutes. You weren't in the washroom. You were not there. Where were you?" Jasper said.

"How do you know?" I know this.

"Cameras," Drake said.

"Then you must have seen a boy with me. He took me to the back door of the club." I trembled recalling him and the darkness.

Leaning forward, Jasper took my hand and began to pat it tenderly. " There was no one. It looked like you were talking to the air."

"No, th... t... u..." I inhaled. "There was a boy. He knew me, my name and everything. He took me to the back of the club." Tears slid down my cheeks.

"There was no one. It could be a dark creature or a witch or someone powerful enough to make himself disappear." Drake muttered.

I shook my head. "But I saw him. He wasn't older than Jace."

"Did something happen?"

"He disappeared in the alley after switching off all the street lamps. Then someone attacked me." A shiver slithered down my body. "And someone saved me."

"Who?" Jasper asked.

'' I couldn't see him. But someone saved me. He's the same person I heard in my head. I'm not certain, brother. Is this place driving me crazy?" I asked, sobbing.

"No, you're fine. There are a lot of creatures we don't know a thing about." Drake said.

"Today, I was returning home. There was only one lamp off. When I tried to cross it, I found myself in a weird place. It was so terrifying." My inside was shivering with terror, even my tongue

"What place?" Jasper asked.

"Everything was scorched, turned to ashes, everything was pitch black except one statue and the fire was burning around him. It was when I heard him in my head, very clearly."

"Impossible, she's just seventeen." Drake muttered in disbelief.

"What did he say?" Jasper leaned forward resting his elbows on his knees.

"He asked me to close my eyes. When I opened them, I was actually standing in front of our house." That was a relief. I couldn't find him anywhere around me.

"Is she bewitched? But I don't feel it." Drake answered his own question.

"Is he my mate?" I asked, not looking certain.

"Have your meal and go to bed." Jasper got on his feet.

"No, you can't tell the other members." I gazed up at him. "And answer me. Who's he?"

"He could be anyone. We can't tell." Drake said, locking his gaze with Jasper.

"They will protect you. It's totally safe to tell them." Jasper said.

"No, I don't like Edward." I pursed my lips. I don't trust him.

Jasper and Drake smiled. "He can't help himself. He doesn't like girls but his mate." Drake said.

"What's happening to me? Please, don't keep me in the dark." I told them.

"We're not certain. It could be your wolf." Drake said.

My eyes bulged out in shock. That couldn't be. It was Everly who was born with her wolf.

"Or, wherever you were, the Dark King helped you." Jasper muttered.

I was thankful that I was sitting. I shook my head. "I have seen him. He helped me. He was tall and strong. But..." I hesitated. "Isn't he dead with his mate?" I asked.

"We don't know. Maybe Alessandro and Edward could help." Jasper suggested.

"They're just like the other alphas." I snorted. How could Alessandro and Edward tell about it but not my brothers.

Jasper smiled. "Alessandro is the third son of Queen Miuccia and Edward is the fourth."

"You're kidding me." My back slammed back.

"We aren't. Now, you need to sleep and eat." Drake said.

They got on their feet to leave the room. My heart was throbbing against my chest. My head was pounding.

"Why did I hear him in my head?" I asked.

"He's the king. He could reach out to any wolf. " Drake said.

When I didn't ask another question. They left me closing the door behind them.

"Is he alive?" I asked myself. My hands were shaking with nerves. I clinched them together, pressing them to my stomach. I felt thrilled thinking about shifting into a beautiful wolf like my sister. But the thought also scared me.
