After finishing my breakfast, I hurried up the stairs. I went for the closet. I frowned, finding no suit in there. How could they make such a mistake? I'll deal with it later. I picked a creamy skirt and a pink blouse and a matching coat with my skirt. I walked over to the bathroom door.
After dolling up, I checked my reflection in the mirror. The outfit was perfect. I put my hair down and gave waves to the end of them. And a little make won't harm my skin.
"Ember," I heard my brother.
I grabbed my white purse and headed out of the room. I climbed down the stairs slowly, watching my steps in my high heels. "I'm ready."
Drake was wearing a brown suit, looking handsome like model-businessman, his rare eyes were highlighted. Anyone from first glance recognized us as brother and sister.
He grabbed his laptop bag and some files. He smiled at me while motioning at the door.
"Can I hold them?" I already extended my hand to take them from his hands.
"Sure, kiddo." He took out his car keys as we drifted out of the house.
"I thought. You'll make plans with your friends." He unlocked his car.
I walked around the car to get in the passenger seat of his black Jaguar. "No one messaged me. They might be busy."
"Get in the back seat." He said, opening the door for me.
I stared at him. "Why? I always sit here. Who is coming with us?" I asked.
He slightly lifted his brows gesturing over my shoulder. "Look at it yourself."
A smile flashed on his face.
I looked at him with a smile admiring him. Wao! His black suit is giving Vshape to his muscular body. Everyone is going to look at him.
His forehead creased as he ran his eyes on my body, they stayed longer on my legs. "You should be out shopping or doing something with your friends." He muttered.
"It's fun too." I slid into the car. No hello, no hey! He is just telling me what I should do.
"I'm not complaining." He muttered before opening the door for himself.
"So good to see you. How about this?" I pursed my lips.
Drake chuckled which earned him a hard stare from him. "What's so funny?"
"I haven't seen my sister like this. sarcastic!" He chuckled again. " You'll let her do whatever she likes." He told him.
I got only silence from him or were they mind-talking? "I don't know. You can run a company." I asked.
"We're partners in this project." He said.
I didn't ask what project. I wasn't into business or fashion stuff. I have not decided what I want to be. I like wood, forest, and flowers around me. They make me feel happy.
"Ok," It was hard to look away from him. He caught me looking at him and that turned me red. Instantly I peered out the window.
During driving I fought hard with my inner self not to look at him. When we reached the building, I straightened my back in excitement. When was the last time I visited the office?
Yes, almost six months ago. The engine was still running when I opened the door and got off.
"Kiddo!"
"Syn!"
I heard them in unison as they stared at me. I smiled at them. "Hurry up. You don't wanna miss the meeting." I told them, still holding my smile.
Drake shook his head. "Just be careful. Our parents will have my head." He said.
"Sorry," I said.
"Don't do this again." Darkice growled.
His eyes flashed amber. I gulped and nodded. I am his mate. It was obvious his wolf would come up finding me in danger.
"Ok," I murmured. He's going to change a lot of my habits like right now I wanna run toward to get in the elevator but his wolf wouldn't like me putting myself in danger.
I stayed enclosed by them in the elevator and when we walked into his office. Andrew, his manager, greeted us. His eyes lowered in respect at the sight of Darkice. He was also a shifter. This place was new to me. I haven't come here before.
"Mr. Royal," A soft female voice grabbed my attention. She was a tall woman wrapped into a red business suit, and her white shirt was tight, clinging to her body like a second skin. It was so thin that I could see her inner outline too. The upper three buttons were unfastened showing her heavy boobs. "Mr. Dawson, I'm so glad to be part of this project." She held out her hand for them. Her brown eyes roamed over my brother and stayed longer on my mate. For her, it was only the two of them who were in the hall. She was beautiful and egoistic like the cheerleader from my previous school.
"Miss Grey, thanks for coming." Drake shook his hand and withdrew it immediately. He was professional. He was into this business for a long time, before my birth. But my mate, I wasn't certain.
She extended her hand toward him. "I've heard a lot about you, Mr Royal. Why don't we meet after this meeting? What do you say we can have lunch together?" She asked, very politely. Fake!
My heart began to beat in dread. She was beautiful and older than me.
"I've promised my fiance to spend time with her." He said.
"Oh, I didn't know that you're engaged." She dropped her hand in disappointment. "Isn't it too early to get engaged?" A frown appeared on her forehead and her eyes crinkled, looking down for the ring.
He had a blank look on his face. "We are here for business, not my personal life." He snapped. I haven't seen him this rude to women before. But he said it in a decent way.
"Yes, of course." She turned her eyes to Drake, looking offended and embarrassed.
Poor girl!
"Please, this way, Ms Grey. " Andrew told her.
He placed his hand on my back and led me to the opposite side of the hallway. "Meeting hall is not this way." I said.
"I know," His lips barely moved. His jaw clenched.
"It's okay." I told him, placing my hand on his stomach.
He let out a soft sigh as he pushed open the door. "Stay here. It won't last long." He tilted his head slightly to the hallway where Drake went with Miss Grey.
"Okay," I nodded pacing in. Then I remembered. "I forgot my phone. How will I click my pictures? " He raised his brows up.
"Why do you think I'm actually here?" Clicking pictures was also one of the reasons.
Smiling, he strode over to the desk and pulled the drawer out. "Take this."
I took it from him. It wasn't fully charged. I turned on the camera. We're looking good together. I did not want him to scold me. My eyes were on him on the display. He nodded allowing me.
I clicked three different poses with him. " Thanks,"
He brushed away the hair that fell on my face. "No problem, Corazón." He rested his head on my forehead and slid his hand around my neck.
It felt so good. He withdrew himself taking a long stride toward the door. He gazed at me long and then turned to the door.
'I love you.' I said in my head when he was out of the office. I smiled.
I slid my feet out of my heels and walked over to the floor to the roof wall and stared out of the city. The view was amazing. My mate is running in my mind.
A dark shadow began to fall over the buildings ahead of me. My eyes narrowed in confusion and I kept staring ahead in awe.
The air around me turned eerily still. It was strolling ahead. A shiver ran down my spine. I dare to look up.
A bolt of fear ran through me when I saw a dark bloody cloud covering the sky. Something bright crimson fell against the glass wall. First, it was slow and then it began to rain rapidly turning the glass crimson.
A feeling of dread in my stomach pushed me to pull out of my shock. My heart was hammering in my chest.
Staggering, I reached the door. I yanked it open to get out. I squealed like a banshee when I saw dark on the other side and no floor.
"There should be a floor." I shouted and glanced over my shoulder. The light was eaten by the dark. I know where it would put me. "There's the floor." I shouted desperately and fearfully.
The white floor appeared ahead of me. My eyes widened with fear, my heart drumming in my ears. My feet were slamming against the floor. I hear murmurs.
Drake and Darkice are in the meeting hall. I need to get there before this dark eats me.
My heart was slamming against my ribcage. I tasted my own tears. I wasn't bothered to wipe my face. Fear was eating me from inside.
I halted to open the door. I couldn't look back again in horror. I yanked it hoping it would open.
Horror sprawled across my features when I felt the earth shaking beneath me.
The door opened and I rushed forward. He was sitting in the head chair, giving no expression. Drake was on the next chair, speaking something. I could see Andrew too or two more guys, Ms Grey and her companions. They all were shifters.
I hurried forward and curled my arms around Darkice's neck bending. But no one gave any reaction. He didn't move as he didn't see me.
I looked at him in sheer panic. My eyes darted to the door again. Everything was dark and horrible. The floor that helped me to reach her was collapsing.
" Brother! Darkice, you have to fight this thing." I dragged in a breath, I was sobbing.
Then I perceived a warm hand on my lower back. His fire eyes met mine as my neck sniveled at him.
My lower lip, hands, and my body were shivering in terror. I lifted my hand and pointed at the dark that was slowly reaching for me.
His eyes snapped in that direction. His eyes turned to me, his menacing expression wasn't for me still fear slithered through my body.
His lips moved but I couldn't hear a word.
My eyes snapped open. I gasped, inhaling air in my lungs. I yanked out of the chair. Pain shot through my back as it hit hard.
Reminding me of the glass wall behind me, I pushed myself away in terror. My widened eyes drifted over the sky. It was clear.
My loud breathing was breaking the silence around me. I stumbled as the dark washed over me.
The door slammed open behind me. I spun horror clenching me. Drake and Darkice looked at me. The dark took over me again. I collapsed down.
