As he said, he was leaning against the wall with his alpha friends. He pushed himself ahead, straightening his back as I paced toward the classroom.
Aidan was a few steps ahead of me. "Ember, Have you solved this?" He pointed at the last sum in his book.
"Um, yes." I pulled my backpack forward to unzip it. My eyes averted away from him as I unfurled it and took out my notebook.
"Thanks," He grabbed it and rushed ahead, striding into the class.
Darkice didn't try to hit him. It was a relief.
"Hey," He said, running his hand through his silky long hair.
"Hi," I started to get nervous, biting my bottom lip with my head held down. I don't know what to say or do.
"You'll sit with me." His arm came around me.
"I don't think it's a good idea. I'm sitting with Aidan." I muttered.
A soft growl left his body. Halting, I
glanced at him. I didn't want others to hear us. Whatever happened last night was between us. If he wanted he could make fun of me.
Our locked gaze broke as I heard shouts from inside. I recognized the voices.
"Aidan and Grace." I scurried inside the class hearing shouts. My feet froze when my eyes rested on the posters. My vision got blurry.
Angrily, Aidan was tearing them down and shouting, demanding who did this.
I felt the heat from my back. I didn't need to turn to look at him. The posters are saying he rejected his vulnerable mate.
A proud grin crawled over Grace's face. "Royal, you rejected her. What are you doing with her?" She forwarded, looking very happy.
A menacing growl filled the classroom. I shivered. It wasn't a good sign.
A loud scream peeled off Grace's lips as he wrapped his arms around her neck.
My eyes widened in fear. I didn't consider him taking my side ever. Was he really sorry for doing that to me last night? Was he scared?
" You did this to my mate?" He snarled, his voice was crude and heavy. His wolf took over. I gasped when I looked at him. Everyone stepped back in terror. His eyes were burning orbs of fire.
Grace was clawing at his hand. Her face was bright red as he blocked her air supply.
Horror clenched everyone when I saw steam rising from his hand. He was burning her.
"Darkice, please, let her go. She will learn from her mistakes." My hands curled around his hand.
He let her go instantly as I began to pull his hand away. But his glare was locked on her.
"No, she'll pay for bringing tears to your eyes. Death penalty. " He snarled.
"No!" I squealed in fear, my big eyes looking at him in utter shock.
"Or mom will decide. I have warned her many times to stop this nonsense." He growled.
I let out a run of carbon dioxide which I was holding. At least, he wouldn't behead her. He's the Royal. He could do anything.

Someone cleared his throat. My eyes darted on Mr Morris. I expected him to scold us and start the class immediately.
"I won't be able to teach you all today. It's your free period. Enjoy it as you want it." He exited the class.
I snorted inwardly. What kind of professor he was.
"You're cleaning this mess." Aidan pointed at Grace and her friends.
"They would," Darkice added, glaring at them.
I rolled my eyes and headed to the door. I never expected them to agree on anything ever, particularly sentencing someone.
I felt my phone vibrating in my backpack. I took it out and stared at the screen. Everly! When did I talk to her last time? We have rarely exchanged messages these days and no phone calls.
It wasn't my class so talking to her would be the best option. I hoisted it up, and turned to see.
"I'm glad you remember me." I heard her giggling voice.
"Hey! How are you? I'm sorry I was so busy."
"No! No sorry. Tell me about your mate. He didn't reject you?"
My lips parted. He rested his hand on the railing and glanced down at me with a frown. His wolf was in control now. "Who told you this?"
"Just saw posts on Wuhbook." It was their popular social media. I don't use it.
"It's not true." I bit my tongue. I don't lie to her. I was thankful that I was away.
I'm aware of him. His wolf ears could listen to our conversation.
"Thank goodness. It stressed me. I would kill them."
I rolled my eyes. "He.... Um," I felt his eyes on me and the corners of his lips curled up.
"Are you with him?" I felt her excitement.
"Yes, " I replied, shyly and disconnected it.
He drew his face closer and buried his face in the crook of my neck. My heart stuttered a few beats before racing out of control. His soft hot breath was fanning my skin.
I lifted my hand. My fingers grazed his stomach. Heat rose on my face. I felt gazes on us. "We're not alone," I muttered.
"Would you have allowed me if we were alone? " his lips grazed my earlobe as he whispered.
I pushed on his chest. He straightened. I lowered my chin feeling his eyes on me. I would have. But he didn't need to know.
He pressed a soft kiss on my head and tugged me with him. My skin burnt. Now I got the logic. I didn't know him. Still, I let him come this close to me. He's my mate.
Aidan smiled at me. I never thought he would take stand for me. My phone began to vibrate again.
His friends came out of the class.
Darkice stepped back and motioned for me to take it. He was discussing something with his friends without speaking a word.
"Hellooo? You disconnected." I heard her sing-song voice.
"Hi, I was just..." My eyes met his golden eyes. He always knows when I look at him. It felt as every time he knew.
"Are you with your mate?" I heard her excited tone.
"You could say that." I said.
"It's your class time."
"I could say the same." I felt silence on the other side. "It's my free period today."
"Are you enjoying your academy life? I know you're facing difficulties."
I breathed out. "It's not that hard. You know the popular girls... "
"Pain in ass!" She completed it for me and we shared a laugh. "How does he look?"
My eyes roamed over his pink lips, dark hair, golden eyes hooded with thick lashes, and chiseled face. "Beyond handsome." I whispered, not wanting him or anyone to eavesdrop on me. I felt my cheeks on fire while whispering the secret to her. I had called it many times in my head.
I heard her gleeful chuckle. "You're in love with him."
I don't want to answer it. "I'm going to see Jasper and Drake practicing basketball."
"Really, I don't believe you." She almost squeaked in my ear.
"Gosh, girl. you're so loud." I chuckled.
"Ha! Jasper is visiting this weekend home. Are you coming?"
"He didn't tell me. I'm not certain." The thought of going away from him frightened me.
"I found my phone today and I thought to make a call to my dear sister," She never used her phone, indeed no one used it as much as I used. They mostly talked in their head linked with their packbond. We believed in meetings, instead of clinging to this device. Whenever I messaged her she replied whenever she saw it fit.
"You'll know if I come." I felt their eyes on me. Were they waiting for me to finish the call? "I have to go."
"Yes, me too. I have my last class. Ring me up reaching home, I wanna know everything."
"Ha! Keep dreaming." I knew what she wanted to know.
"Ha! Ha! Take care."
I smiled, knowing she would never stop caring about me. "You too,"
I disconnected the call and shoved it in my pocket. She didn't know about the rejection part. Mom would freak out and take the first flight to come here to take me back home. He cleared his throat and I turned to him. Phone was banned, but I still carried it with me. They would just take it away after finding it.
"Do you wanna grab something to eat before going to see practice?" He asked.
"Your girl is hungry, Royal. " Aidan said suddenly.
"Aidan, you need to keep your mouth shut." I stared at him. I was already embarrassed thinking he would have heard me saying him beyond handsome. I wouldn't lie. He is actually really handsome, might even say very hot.
"What! I'm saving my ass." He shrugged his shoulders.
Yes. I understood. "Sisily isn't coming yet. Let's eat. Then I'm going home to change." I turned, not looking at him.
I huffed and turned on my heels when they didn't come with me. "What's wrong?" I asked.
I shifted on my feet nervously. I gulped when I heard a buzzing tone in my ears. I rushed ahead scared. I could feel the air changing. I darted around for something unpleasant to happen.
His arm wrapped around my waist. His touch snapped me out of my dread and my eyes jumped up on his face. His eyeballs were a source of burning fire.
"What's happening? Is this a kind of prank?" My heart felt ready to explode.
"Stay calm, Em. He's trying to see the danger." Carlos muttered.
"I'm hearing the buzz," I panicked. It was increasing.
His eyes snapped at me. I gulped fearfully under his gaze. "You're safe, Mi vida." His hand lifted up. He gently caressed my cheek while looking deeply into my eyes almost as if looking in my soul. I am oddly comfortable with him which I wasn't expecting after yesterday. The buzz stopped and I blinked. I waited for it to restart.
"How did you do this?" I asked.
"He's your mate." Alessandro answered.
"Why did this happen? Is it related to my subconscious mind?" I wasn't certain that my world was changing when I stepped from light to dark. All I knew is that it was horrible all the time.
"We don't know yet." Carlos muttered.
"You need to cheer up. It's affecting him." Aidan muttered.
I blinked in confusion. It installed in my head when I recalled Aidan's ability. I glanced up at my mate. His face was void of any expression, his eyes were golden and looking down at me. He was an expert in hiding his feelings.
"We should eat." I said, tugging his hand. My body relaxed when his warm fingers curled around mine.
