He caught my hand as the warmth of his hand wrapped around me. We walked silently at some distance. He turned to another door. I thought it would be one of his friend's houses. We halted in the living room. Everything was dark in the house.
'It's his house.' I heard him in my head.
My gaze snapped to him. I stared at him in complete and utter shock. His gaze was fixed ahead of him.
"What do you mean?" I uttered in shock.
'His' He made me walk with him and we took the stairs. The stupid but very important machine of my body began to pound every time something shocking and surprising happened.
My gaze darted around us. Everything was mostly black. I understood what he meant by him. "Dastien?" I asked.
He nodded, still not peeling his gaze away from his path. He was so focused on whatever was running in his head that no one would say that he was romantic a few minutes ago.
The main door wasn't locked, nothing was locked here. He pushed another door open. 'Here. You would rarely find it anywhere. I've been seeing it for the last five years.' His eyes were looking in front of him without blinking.
I followed his gaze and it shocked me, making my heart beat double. There was nothing to appraise, I had already seen this. Thanks to the oath I made to her. He couldn't read my thoughts. I should be thankful to my sister too.
Seeing this picture didn't shock me but him knowing this fact shocked and scared me. He wasn't supposed to know this before his birthday. I wasn't allowed to know about it before my eighteenth birthday.
"You're the one who started to break the rules first." I let out a heavy breath.
His golden eyes are still roaming over the picture ahead of us. It was the only picture of them. She was curling her one arm around his neck and his arm was wrapped around her waist, lifting her up. She was laughing, her happiness was reaching her eyes. He wasn't smiling in it but I could read his forest green eyes. They were only on her.
'I tried to remember anything. I couldn't. I come here daily and look at them. But they're long gone.'
"We do not know." I said.
He turned to look at me and titled his head. 'What makes you think this?'
I shook my head. "Does Mama know?" I asked.
He made me look at him and drew my hand back. I glanced at him with a dilated heart. Does he know? Why would he bring me here then?
"I can see Mother made you swear, the oath. I could see the white sparkle around you that's stopping me from reaching your head. To that part which is holding the secret." He said softly.
"Why don't you ask her?" I said looking at his feet.
He slithered his fingers under my chin and lifted them to make me look in his eyes. "You're not cursed or anything, no danger to your life?"
My lips parted as I realized what he was worried about. "No! I'm not going to die." Why couldn't I see the slight wave of pain in his eyes?
After a moment of deliberation, he nodded his head.
"What is it?" I asked, taking a step closer to him.
"I've seen worry in Mother's eyes for you. I thought you would be cursed too."
"No, I'm not cursed." I assured her. "That's why you thought to reject me. "
He nodded his head. At that moment, I wanted to break the oath but he hasn't forced me to spill the secret. It must be very powerful.
"When this kind of oath broke, one thing ended too. You stop breathing." He muttered.
I gasped in panic. Why was his mother so sweet and so dangerous at the same time? He flashed a soft smile. "Relax, she wouldn't hurt you ever."
"You look so confident." I pushed myself away and paced close to the picture. They looked happy together. It felt as if they completed each other.
My cheeks became fuller smiling when his arm curled around me from behind. 'Losing you means losing her son, too.' He said.
" Didn't you ask her about this?' I asked, still looking at them.
"No," He whispered. "I always thought it's King Dastien and his mate."
"Which is true," I said.
"Yes, it is but it changed everything when I saw you in my wolf form."
"What were you thinking?"
"That you're a ghost." He blurted.
"What?" I gazed at him with big eyes. I broke the ring of his arm and my big eyes stayed on him. Ghost?
He hummed. "It infuriated me more when I wanted to be near you, touch you." He lifted his hand and touched my cheek tenderly. "And then, that night."
"You found it out and pondered to reject me." I said. It still hurts me.
His jaw locked and he nodded his head. It went quiet as our gazes stayed on each other. I felt the strongest need to say something. "I got it.'' I said, sounding normal.
His eyes narrowed a fraction as he studied me for a full second. " We should go. I don't want anyone to follow us here." He said, holding my hand one more time and he tugged me with him.
I looked over my shoulder. This place was closer to his taste, all dark. Could he be Dastien? I don't believe a word she said. We're different people from different eras. Then her words nagged me from the book.
Rushing ahead, I curled my arm around his arm. "Where are we going now?"
He looked up at the sky. My heart dropped. The sun was setting down. It was time. My arm tightened around his. I saw his alpha friends, Silver, Elizabeth, Mr. Morris, and Mr. Wolfe, Sisily's grandfather. I gulped in fear. I didn't want to be here. Let's go back.
I tried to say in my head. "We've talked about it, Vida." He said.
Why was he making me do things against my desire? I didn't want to see him going. I turned on my heels. His arm shot out blocking my path.
'You're my mate. Don't show your back when I need you next to me.'
I stared at him with flatted lips. I whirled on my heels and sauntered ahead reluctantly. My eyes rested on a portrait the same as in territory too. A wall of magma running, no one knows where's the source of its living.
Drake took me in an embrace. "I see." I felt amusement in his voice.
"I'm just wearing his shirt, brother." I told him, embracing him back.
"Our kiddo is growing." Kissing my head, he stepped back.
I know he's going with them. I have heard murmurs that it could be dangerous if they are going to start a war or end an already running one.
Tears pooled in my eyes. If what they are saying is true, I don't wanna know what Mother would be going through now.
"We're not going to die, Emersyn." Jasper said, hugging me from one side. "We're immortal." He smiled down at me.
"I know that if you wanna kill an immortal alpha you just have to be in the dark realm." My lower lip trembled.
"Who told you this shit?" Drake frowned.
"It's true. I know." I cast my head down to hide my tears. They didn't want to find another way.
"It could be true. But only a king could kill us there. Could he do this to his mate? See, you brought us a special place in the group." Jasper tried to cheer me up which wasn't his personality if I wasn't wrong.
"Just be safe out there. And come back home soon." I told them.
"That's our home, Emersyn. We're here because the King's mate is here." Edward said in his usual serious tone.
What the heck does he mean? He could never store something good to tell me. Does he?
"What do you mean?"
"This topic is another day's discussion." Drake placed his hands on my shoulders.
No, it wasn't. I glanced at him. The link I felt was silenced in my head, his expressionless face was looking at me.
"Okay, you're going to pay the bills for my shopping, big brothers. And I'm going on a trip too, with my friends." I told him.
" Done," Jasper kissed my head before withdrawing his arm.
"Anything for my baby sister." Drake flashed his encouraging smile my way. I couldn't return it.
My lower lip began to tremble. He didn't make any move or come over to say something. Stubborn ass! I glared at him as I stomped over him. I punched him in his stomach as hard as I could.
I wanted to say a lot of bad things to him. He smiled down at me. Taking a long stride ahead, he just looked at me. He's truly a stubborn ass. I plucked a small step ahead and curled my arms around him.
My shoulders relaxed as his hand landed on my lower back, hugging me back. After a long minute, he pulled back and leaned down to brush his lips on mine.
'Please, find another way instead of going there. There must be a way.' I said in my head hoping he would hear.
"That's the only way. going there and finding out who's controlling them and attacking us. Yesterday wasn't the first time they attacked." Cupping my cheek he swiped his thumb under my chin.
I hugged him one more time and drew away from his rings of arms.
He glanced over my shoulder. He was already talking in his head, giving instructions to them. He moved toward the magma wall. I stopped breathing. It could easily burn and kill somebody. He stepped into the center of the magma wall.
"Breathe, he's fine. It couldn't have burnt him." I heard Silver. When my eyes rested on her, her eyes were red with crying. I didn't need the power to sense the danger. I could feel it inside me that they were going to face something very dangerous.
"Fire is in his blood." Elizabeth said. Fear was visible in her eyes.
I could only nod my head. My eyes never left him. The magma pushed away from him, showing waves of blue water.
Daniel forwarded with his long strides and disappeared behind the wall. Carlos stayed a step back. They were continuously exchanging words in their heads.
I saw him slightly nodding his head.
Carlos walked in, Next went Edward, his eyes locked with his mate for a long second. Alessandro was after him, he swiped his stormy eyes on his mate before disappearing behind the wall.
Drake waved at me and Jasper gestured at me to smile. They always did so when it was my school after a weekend and I didn't want to attend my classes. They always brought me a lot of candies and chocolates. This has earned them scolds from Mother that this much sweetness would ruin my teeth.
I chuckled, crying, recalling old days, and waved my both hands in the air, looking at them.
Professor Morris and Mr. Wolfe stayed behind. They were the only ones who were wearing suits. I hope it will be like a meeting on the other side and they will return home soon.
I began to feel suffocation, my sight blurred but I blinked the tears away. I walked ahead with a second thought.
