I grabbed my backpack. I wasn't frightened to be out. It was day and no dark could be seen anywhere. It's safe in daytime
I headed downstairs in the hall. My feet staggered but I gripped the railing. Six members of the alphas were seated on the couch and looking at me.
"Hi, Ember. I have heard you have information about our lost friend." Carlos smiled but there was no humor in his tone.
"Hi, " I replied in my meek voice.
"Why don't you tell us from the beginning," Alessandro said, motioning at the couch.
Did this guy just order me?
My eyes lifted to my brothers. I wasn't certain he wouldn't have told them. I gulped. "Queen Reina will be back in the academy ASAP," Carlos said, offering a soft smile.
I tried to smile back, but it felt like I was favoring him.
"You can trust us," Edward said.
I chuckled. "It seems weird hearing it from you."
Carlos laughed but he pretended to cough, feeling his friends' gaze on him.
"Well, he looks angry, quarrelsome sometimes but he's not." Elizabeth walked out of the kitchen, holding a tray. Silver was trailing behind her. They smiled at me.
Sometimes! He's always angry and ready to fight.
"Hye!" I smiled. I wasn't certain to share my secret but I trusted them. I didn't know the reason yet.
"You can start while eating," Silver said, sitting on the arm of the couch next to her mate. She slung her arm around his shoulder. Alessandro curled his hand around her fingers.
I wished I had the same confidence in myself. I couldn't befriend anyone back in my school.
"Mom?" I asked, my gaze turned to the kitchen expecting her to saunter out.
"She's in the library with Katherine," Jasper said.
I settled down. I was still scared of everything. I might be the daughter of the powerful beta who was supposed to be the alpha but my lifestyle was far different from my sisters. They were brought up among their race but I was kept between humans. Inhaling deeply, I started from the party night. They were paying me full attention which I wasn't expecting. Elizabeth and Silver were looking at me with wide eyes. They wouldn't have expected this.
When I was done, my emotions were a mess. I was expecting girls with wings and some students with wands in their hands. But nothing else, I know a witch and he's my friend. He could sense emotions. I never asked what he was capable of doing except that. Most of the students in my class are wolves. I hardly saw a vampire. I wasn't certain. I hadn't talked to anyone but students like me who couldn't shift. It's Sisily.
I grabbed the cheese sandwich and a glass of orange juice. I took a large bite and smiled, finding it delicious. "They're good." I said, not knowing who cooked the breakfast. It wasn't my mother I could tell.
"Silver made them." Beth said.
I sipped from my glass to wash it down. " Thank you." I placed the glass on the table and picked two more sandwiches while taking another bite.
"You can have them all. We have had our meal." Daniel said his dark eyes glued on me.
I gulped. " In case, anyone changes their mind." Aidan liked sandwiches. He missed his mother. I could take them for him. I chewed it and swallowed it down before speaking. "So? What do you think? What has happened to me?" My eyes roamed on all faces. They are all beautiful in their own ways.
"You can take them for your friends." Edward said, not showing any emotion on his cold-looking face.
I gulped. That was impossible. I narrowed my eyes on him. Did he just guess it like my parents and brothers do? Of course!
He arched his brows. Elizabeth placed her hand on his shoulder but he didn't peel his eyes off of me.
"Has anyone told you that you're a fun spoiler kind?" I finished my juice, finding the need to look away from them. They were giving me mixed vibes.
"Are you certain that it was a statue, not a person?" Alessandro asked.
"He wasn't moving. But the fire was burning around his hands and arm." I wasn't even certain if he was wearing a shirt or not. He must have because I would have noticed then. I was scared like hell.
"There were only two people whom the fire couldn't hurt." Carlos said.
"Who?" I asked, grabbing my glass again.
"Cyril and Dastien." Drake said.
My eyes turned to him. "Who's Cyril?" I asked, I hadn't heard about him before.
"He's Dastien's uncle. His father and he were twin like Darius and Dastien." Elizabeth said.
" You must have heard about them?" Silver asked.
"Not much. My mother wants me to live a simple life. I wouldn't be here if Reina wouldn't have issued new orders. And I hadn't seen her yet." I lifted my glass to my lips.
"Chris was our father. King Chris." Edward said.
Dad told me about him once. I coughed, wide-eyed staring at him. He was actually a fun spoiler. I was curious to know something else. Jasper came to my side and slapped my back tenderly. My eyes were still on him. "You said. Only two. Why not you then?"
"Our ancestors decided this," Alessandro said. My gaze jerked to him. " We are immortal. They always picked the strongest one among us."
"Immortal? And people said they're dead." I flattened my lips.
"Our ancestors decide everything. They picked Dastien to rule the wolves. He would." Edward looked confident.
"How could you be so certain?" Grabbing the glass I got on my feet to grab a Tiffin to pack them.
"No one has replaced him in these twenty years." Jasper said.
The door opened. My head snapped at him as he strode in as he owned the place. "Why is he here?" My lips flattened. He was with Grace.
"I'm part of the team." He said, taking the seat. He grabbed the sandwich and finished it in less than a minute.
"They were mine." I told him, flattening my lips in a straight line.
"So rude. That's how you treat your guests." One side of his lips twisted.
"You're not my guest. My brother invited you." I forwarded my hand to grab the left sandwich. He took it hurriedly and shoved it in his mouth.
I stared at him with shock and my eyes locked with his intense eyes. Someone chuckled, breaking the spell I felt catching myself in his eyes. "You did this intentionally." He shrugged his shoulders, chewing. "What's your problem with Aidan?" I snapped
His eyes hinted of his wolf as they appeared amber. They were gone quickly when he blinked.
"Don't ever say his name in front of me." He said slowly in a deadly voice.
"Are you threatening my sister?" I heard Jasper.
In a blink, he was face to face with him. He was a few inches taller than them all. His eyes glowed and a low growl left his throat.
Jasper lowered his head and took a step back.
I gasped. I thought the males of my family were the strongest ones. It angered me that he could rule over them. He might be the Alpha but my brother was also the Alpha.
I stepped between them and wiggled my finger at him. "You can't talk to my brother in that tone."
"I can." His amber gaze stayed on me.
I was scared but I held my ground. "No,"
"She doesn't know the rules of our world." Edward moved to my side. His hand curled around me. He was about to pull me away from the sight of seething alpha.
My eyes widened in terror when he curled his hand around his neck. "No la toques," His voice was low and full of menace.
I couldn't look away in shock. Edward was powerful. How could he lower his gaze in submission? I must be trapped in a dream.
"Entendemos, hermano." Alessandro interrupted.
Darkice let go of his neck and turned sharply. His gaze halted on me one more time. The glow decreased in his eyes but it did not stop.
"Who are you?" I whispered.
One corner of his lips tugged up. He walked over to the door using his long strides. He left it ajar open.
"I can't believe this happened." Silver said in disbelief.
I was still staring at the door. My heart was thumping. They're a team. This doesn't suit them.
"You should be careful around him." Drake said, he rubbed his temple. Did he just advise me? I couldn't ask him.
Everyone was left shocked in the hall. I waited for them to say something. "If you all have decided to keep me in the dark. Don't expect me to tell you everything next time." I couldn't believe he treated them like thrash and they didn't utter a word. I took my backpack and pivoted to the door.
"He's our Alpha." I froze in shock hearing the low but clear voice of Daniel. "I thought. You should know."
"The Alpha?" He's the one replacing The Dark King Dastien. "But his eyes aren't flashing fire." More to them I asked myself.
"He's twenty." Drake said, rubbing his neck. "I'm going out. Come, I'll drop you to your class."
I nodded and turned to look at Edward and Jasper. "Are you guys ok?"
"Nothing to worry about. It's normal The Alpha treats them like this when he's angry." Carlos said.
Angry? Was his anger for me? What's his problem with Aidan? I've heard King Dastien was kind, this one was the opposite. Bloody Evil!
I grabbed my backpack and turned to my brother. He took it from me. "I can carry it."
He slung it on his shoulder. I saw a small frown on his forehead. Whatever was nagging him he wouldn't share it with me. But we should never give up on trying.
"Will you say something? I know it on the tip of your tongue you're just using your wolf to grope for something." I told him.
His brows shot up as he glanced at him. "Stay out of his path. This year is important for him. He's gaining his powers. His anger would always be on the tip of his nose."
I was curious to know the most important thing. "Is he the fire wolf?" I asked, drawing my face closer.
"He'll be before his twenty-first birthday. The queen shouldn't take the decision at least this year." He muttered.
"What are you scared of?" It's disturbing me to see them like this.
"I don't want anyone to hurt you. You could have joined the London Academy but..." He trailed off, thinning his lips.
"The queen decided this." I giggled.
The corners of his lips kicked up. "Ice cream?" He asked.
"Yes, I would love that." I hopped matching my pace with his long strides.
I wanted to tell Sisily about what happened this morning but Drake told me not to say a thing to anyone as it should be between the Dark King's pack. I snorted.
Aidan and Sisily looked at me with questioning eyes. "You're quiet today?" Sisily asked.
"And you're angry at someone?" Aidan added, quickly.
"Can't you be the human, instead of the cunning witch who poked her nose and smelled the situation," I said with a frown.
"I can not smell the situation. I could feel the emotions between two people. And I just guessed it. Anyone could do this from a glimpse of your face." Aidan said, offering a smile.
"Is it about your mother?" Sisily asked. I had told her about my mother's decision that she didn't want me to study here. She did not want me around any academy.
Not wanting to lie to her, I shrugged my shoulders.
"She loves you and cares for you. She's scared of losing you." Aidan said. He must have read them when she came to our class to teach us.
"Like his daughter Emma?" I said, looking across at them from the table.
"The Queen? Emersyn." Sisily leaned forward trying to cover the distance between us. "She was my tutor at the beginning of the days of the academy."
My lips parted. "Really? You must have her picture. Have you seen her?" I was desperate to see her, to know about her.
Her shoulders sagged as she leaned back and inhaled deeply. Gloomy covered her features.
Aidan darted his gaze around us. "We can't tell you." He murmured under his breath that I barely could hear him.
"Why?" I asked.
"It's a crime. When I was eight, Queen Reina issued the order." Sisily murmured, leaning over the table.
"Why? Is she scared of her?" I asked.
"No one knows." Aidan shrugged his shoulders.
"I don't like this queen Reina." I mashed my lips together and snorted.
"You can get into trouble. Don't say it again." Sisily looked around at all faces.
"They can hear you. It wouldn't take long to reach her ears." Aidan muttered.
"You definitely don't want her as your enemy." Sisily said, throwing her head over her shoulder.
I couldn't believe she was her tutor. No one would tell me a thing, not even after my eighteenth birthday.
" Don't make that face. We should hang out. What do you say, Sis?" Aidan wiggled his thick brows at her.
They shared a secret look I couldn't understand. "I don't wanna go anywhere."
"Oh, don't say no. Can't you do a little thing for your friends?" Aidan said.
"Alright, but you're dropping us home safely or my brothers will kick your ass." I mocked.
Sisily and I giggled but he didn't find it funny.
"I'll keep human girls protected. You got my word." Aidan places his hand over his chest.
It made us chuckle harder. We felt gazes on us.
