Chapter 108

Ch. 108 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

I shrieked. My hands shot up to hold on to something. Fear clawed at me. I couldn't understand a thing as my dread blocked it. I felt my anklet twisting, my knee hit the stone. The pain seemed not bigger than the terror I felt when he glared down at me with his amber eyes. I swallowed hard.

He looked more dangerous from this angle. His fur was soft, very soft, and shiny black under the sunlight. I could also feel his strength. He was the strongest one I could bet.

He wasn't looking dangerous as our eyes locked in shock, realizing that I was hugging his hind leg. I would call it a cling for dear life.

He saved me from hitting my face and head on the hardest rocks beneath the water.

He growled louder, and his calm amber gaze turned furious. I pushed myself back, away from him. Disappointment washed over me. I liked the feel of his fur under my palms.

The thought instantly disappeared when pain shot through my anklet and my knee to my body. My face contorted in pain. My legs couldn't take my weight.

I fell back on my arse. I lifted my chin to see him. He disappeared on the other side of the river toward the Meadows. I sighed out. I heard my heart running.

I squeezed my eyes as the pain increased. I should go out instead of letting this place lure me toward it.

I wondered where he went? Thanks to him, I didn't get hurt much. I looked at my legs, the water was crimson.

I unzipped my bag. It was dry. I don't remember putting the first aid box. There were only edible things. Tears pool in my eyes. The pain was getting worse. Jasper would scold me one more time.

Putting my bag aside, I pulled my injured anklet closer. The skin got many scratches that caused the crimson water. My jeans were torn from my knee and were scraped.

"Are you crying?" I was startled, my head jerked back. My jaw dropped to the ground. I could feel the blood racing through my veins. He is the dashing, hot boy in ripped dark jeans, and a dark grey tee, the full sleeves were pulled up the elbows, showing his muscles. My eyes drifted across his chest. His tee was stretched across his chest. My mouth filled with saliva. I lifted my eyes up.

A cold, golden gaze assessed me. It broke the spell. I gulped hard. I tried to push myself up. My face scrunched up as pain shot through me. His face was completely devoid of emotions. But I could tell he was angry.

"Why are you not healing?" He forwarded his steps. He sniffed the air. No doubt, he would have gotten his answer now that I'm human.

I stayed on the ground, staring at him like a puppy lover. I felt his golden eyes demanding words, authority in them. I had seen many eyes but his eyes were so beautiful.

"I'm not a wolf," I said, lowering my eyes to my torn jeans and injured knee. I had never felt embarrassed before admitting it to anyone. Why now? Perhaps, I like him. Geez! No! I just met him now.

"Of course, " His deep timbre was full of sarcasm.

It made me consider. Did I bring infamous to our family? "I didn't choose to." I flattened my lips, still refusing to look at him.

His tongue was completely opposite to his handsome face. My head snapped up when he placed his white handkerchief on my knee and pressed it softly. Tenderness didn't look like his thing.

"What are you doing away from the academy?" He asked,

I glanced at him under my lashes and found his golden eyes on me. "I don't wanna be here." I told him. It wasn't fully true.

"Going against the rules would send you to your grave. Do you know?" He said.

My stomach tightened in knots. "Nobody told me that."

"Now you know. And it's not allowed to be here."

"It applies to you too Or if you're not the professor." I challenged him.

"Or the Alpha." His gaze turned challenging on me.

"You were the black wolf?" I asked, looking into his eyes. His eyes were beautiful and mysterious.

"Dimitri would love to meet you." He said as he hunched down next to me.

"Who's Dimitri?" I snorted to hide the smile that wanted to crawl over my

face after finding him near to me. Their attitude and behavior was matching. He's the black wolf. He's strong, very handsome, menacing, and dangerous in both forms.

"Doctor," He muttered.

My eyes bulged out in disbelief when he slithered his strong arms under my thighs and back. The warmth of his body burnt into my skin like fire. His earthy Cologne filled my nostrils, it was matching with the surrounding woods. It could be because he was wandering around in his wolf form.

The tingling sensation crept through my body. I fisted my hands stopping myself from curling my arms around his neck.

Suddenly, my head tilted back. I panicked. My big eyes turned to his golden. "Are you throwing me into the water?" If he was planning to do this. It wouldn't be a pleasant sight. He was the alpha, he would use his full power and I wouldn't come out of this without breaking my skin and bones. I shut my eyes in dread.

"Your bag." He said.

My eyes snapped open in shock. I opened my mouth to pour out the words. Instead, I extended my arm and lifted it off the ground. Every time my eyes traveled to him, no matter what.

He began to walk away. I glanced over my shoulder to get a final look at the beautiful place. "Your place is awesome, so beautiful." My gaze turned to him again.

He just stared for a second before turning ahead at the path. My head rested on his shoulder. The pain was bearable but my eyes were getting heavy. "I didn't mean to trespass on your property. I didn't see any sign of private land."

"You need to eat or drink something." He said without peeling his eyes off the path. It was a narrow one, surrounded by grass and then tall thick trees.

I unzipped the bag. I never thought I would obey a strange person. I shouldn't forget The Alpha. He was more powerful than anyone. That could be the reason I was obeying his demand.

I took the chocolate bar and tore the packing. I took a small bite. The sweetness melted in my mouth. My eyes closed. Then it hit me that I hadn't had my breakfast and dinner last night.

When I opened my eyes he was looking at me with a soft expression. They turned brutal finding my eyes on him. He averted them away immediately.

I raised my hand holding it for him. My stomach clenched and warm spread when I saw him taking a big bite of it. I never thought I would share my food with a stranger.

"Never say no to food." He murmured.

A big smile crawled on my face. The bubble of emotions burst out hearing his words. It is not romantic. It's just food. Werewolves love food more than their mates.

I bit on it. It felt sweeter than before. I shook my head. I told myself to clear my head. He could smell my emotions. Nothing would be more embarrassing than this.

My mind traveled back. He was a gorgeous wolf and a giant one. "Why did you attack me?" I asked, looking up at him.

He snorted. "You would be dead then." His jaw twitched.

He has anger issues. "But you scared me. You could have simply nodded your head and stared at me if you wanted me to leave the place."

Glancing down at me, he arched his brows. His feet halted. I looked around and found a black Wrangler. The door was already opened. Was it already planned? He placed me carefully in the passenger seat as I was a dedicated glass showpiece.

"Where are you taking me?'' He must be used to talking in his head. He preferred to speak less.

" Back to the academy. " He was going to close the door.

"No," I squealed and he stared at me.

"Please, drop me to senior Alpha's house. You must know him." I didn't want to go back. Jasper would be furious at me. Yes, I was running away from them. I needed time. "Alpha Lancelot Dawson."

He nodded his head and closed the door. I relaxed in my seat. My eyes followed him as he walked around the car. He opened the door and got in the driver's seat.

"You are?" He asked, his eyes were on my hands.

"Ember." I didn't tell him my full name; he could tell my brother through telepathy.

"Emersyn Quarles Dawson." He said. My big eyes snapped at him. "Your brothers are finding you."

When I heard my name from his mouth, the calm that had settled over me shattered. I reached for the door. I tried the handle. My heart pounded in my ears when I got it locked. "Unlock it." I demanded.

He twisted the key in the ignition and the engine roared, startling me. It was matching with the attitude of his wolf.

"It's illegal. You can't take me with you without my permission." I blurted, hoping it would work.

"You come under our law, Princess." His lips twisted in a humorless smile.

"What the fuck?" I hated it the way he said it. Princess! "I just don't care. Stop your beast car. You Diablo!" I snorted in annoyance.

I knew he could tear me apart easily. As he knew my identity, he wouldn't think to hurt me. Shit! How could I expect him to not hurt me when my mother hit me yesterday? Tears swing in my eyes. I wouldn't talk to her no matter what. Poor Jace!

I tore my gaze away from him and forced it to remain anywhere but not him. The silence was disturbing between us. The door was locked and I couldn't escape.

I've had a lot of ups and downs in my life. I was stressed about not having the wolf like others, and not attending the same school with my sister, my mother hit and my brother scolded me. Last two things I never expected to happen in my life. But the bubble burst out very soon. I was dreading to face them.

He pulled over the car reaching NineA. I squeezed my eyes shut not wanting to face them. The door opened and my eyes jerked open.

"Em, I was so worried about you." I saw her hands coming toward me.

Before she could pull me in a hug, I leaned away from her, close to the driver seat where he was still seated. The wooden scent calmed my nerves. I was aware of him behind me. I saw my mother, father, Jasper, Drake, and Jace looking at me. Jasper wasn't looking angry anymore.

"Are you Hurt?" Daddy C extended his hand but I pulled my knees away. Strangely, I wasn't feeling pain anymore.

"Should I help you, Ember?" Jace asked, glancing over our mother's shoulder.

I shook my head and waited for them to leave my way. Jasper was looking past me at him. I didn't know his name. They must be exchanging words in their heads.

I tamped off my feelings that I perceived being close to him. No one needs to know that I like this black wolf though he was the reason for my injuries.

When they stepped back, I climbed out of the jeep. The pain hit me hard. I tightened my lips to suppress the squeal. I grasped the door and my eyes locked with his golden eyes. They shone amber and were back to golden instantly.

"You're hurt." Jace wrapped his arm around my shoulder to help me.

"Take her to Dimitri." The-Alpha said.

I snorted at his commanding voice. I shot him an angry look.

"Can you walk? Should I carry you?" Jace asked.

"Yes, please." I muttered, getting puzzled and shocked. Why couldn't I feel the pain when I was in his car? I had heard The Alpha carried some special power. And there was only one Alpha whose powers were unmatched. He was dead now. The king.
