Between Four of Us

Chapter 78

Ch. 78 / 250 Jun 22, 2025

The day of the baby’s gender reveal was finally here, and the house was alive with excitement. Camille could hardly believe how quickly time had flown, and now, she was about to share this special moment with Noah, Leo, Matthew, and a few close friends. She was practically glowing with happiness, especially as she watched the brothers bustling around, each of them making sure every detail was perfect.

Leo was setting up a huge balloon arch outside, struggling to keep it steady against a slight breeze. “A little help over here?” he called out, laughing as one balloon escaped his grip and floated into the sky.

Matthew chuckled, walking over to lend a hand. “I told you, we should’ve anchored it down first, genius.”

“Oh, come on. What’s the fun in that?” Leo shot back, securing the arch and giving his brother a playful nudge.

Noah stood nearby, watching them with a grin. “At this rate, we’ll be lucky if we have any balloons left by the time everyone arrives.”

Camille walked over to them, her smile soft as she watched the three men who had become her family, each of them pouring their hearts into this moment. She gently placed a hand on her belly, feeling a warm flutter of anticipation. “Thank you all for making this so special,” she said, her voice filled with gratitude. “I don’t know what I’d do without you.”

Noah wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her close. “You don’t have to thank us, Camille. We’re just as excited as you are—maybe even more.”

Leo laughed, his eyes twinkling as he gestured to the blue and pink decorations scattered around the yard. “We’re taking bets, by the way. I’m saying it’s a boy.”

Matthew shook his head, smirking. “That’s only because you want a little buddy to roughhouse with. I’m putting my money on a girl. She’s going to be just as strong as her mom.”

Camille raised an eyebrow, amused. “Oh, we’re betting now? And what does the winner get?”

Leo thought for a moment, then grinned mischievously. “Bragging rights, of course. And the first official onesie for the baby, personalized with the winning guess.”

Noah chuckled, shaking his head. “Then I’m sticking with a girl too. I just have a feeling.”

The guests began to arrive, and soon the yard was filled with laughter, hugs, and congratulatory cheers. Friends and family mingled, admiring the decorations and congratulating Camille and Noah. There was a sense of joy in the air, a collective excitement that only grew as the time for the big reveal approached.

Leo, ever the life of the party, clinked a spoon against his glass, calling for everyone’s attention. “Alright, everyone, gather around! It’s time for the big moment!”

Camille’s heart raced with anticipation as she and Noah made their way to the center of the crowd. They stood in front of a large black balloon filled with either pink or blue confetti, ready to pop and reveal the gender of their baby. She looked up at Noah, her eyes shining with excitement.

“Are you ready for this?” she asked, her voice a little breathless.

Noah squeezed her hand, his eyes filled with warmth. “More than ready. Let’s do this together.”

Leo handed them a pin, his grin wide as he took a step back to give them space. “Okay, on the count of three! One… two… three!”

Together, Camille and Noah pierced the balloon with the pin, and in an instant, a cloud of pink confetti burst into the air, raining down around them in a beautiful, fluttering display. Cheers and applause erupted from their friends and family as Camille laughed, tears springing to her eyes.

“It’s a girl!” she cried, her voice choked with happiness.

Noah wrapped his arms around her, lifting her off the ground as they laughed together, pink confetti still drifting around them. He held her close, his voice filled with awe. “A little girl. Camille, we’re going to have a daughter.”

Leo and Matthew cheered, both of them looking genuinely thrilled as they rushed over to congratulate them. Leo pulled Camille into a hug, his smile wide and playful. “Guess I’ll have to get her a ‘Future Trouble Maker’ onesie after all. She’s going to be perfect.”

Matthew stepped forward, his usual calm demeanor softened by a rare, open smile. “I knew it. She’s going to be as strong and amazing as her mom.”

Camille laughed, her heart so full it felt like it might burst. She looked at each of them, overwhelmed by the love and support that surrounded her. “Thank you, all of you. I couldn’t ask for a better family for her.”

As they continued to celebrate, the brothers each took turns joking about what kind of uncle they would be. Leo was already planning playdates filled with fun and adventure, while Matthew talked about teaching her to stand up for herself and be brave. Noah, standing beside Camille with his arm around her waist, looked happier than she had ever seen him, his eyes sparkling as he listened to his brothers’ plans.

As the evening wound down, Camille found herself sitting with Noah, Leo, and Matthew in the backyard, surrounded by friends but lost in their own little bubble of happiness. The night air was cool, but the warmth between them kept any chill at bay.

“Can you believe it?” Noah murmured, looking at Camille with wonder. “A daughter. I feel like the luckiest man in the world.”

Camille leaned her head against his shoulder, feeling a profound sense of peace. “She’s going to be surrounded by so much love. I already know she’s going to be strong, smart, and loved beyond measure.”

Leo nudged Matthew, grinning. “Looks like I’ll be the favorite uncle, though. Just saying.”

Matthew rolled his eyes, but a soft smile tugged at his lips. “Only because you’ll bribe her with candy and toys.”
