Between Four of Us

Chapter 96

Ch. 96 / 250 Jun 22, 2025

Three days before the wedding, Camille was busy with last-minute preparations. Between finalizing the guest list, coordinating with the wedding planner, and arranging small details for the ceremony, she’d been running around non-stop. Today, however, was a special day. She was supposed to pick up her wedding dress, the custom gown she had chosen that reflected her unique style—something that felt like her, bold yet elegant, a true expression of who she was.

Excitement mixed with a little anxiety as she drove to the boutique. She’d been eagerly anticipating seeing the dress in its final form, envisioning how it would look as she walked down the aisle with Noah, Leo, and Matthew waiting for her. But when she arrived at the boutique and the consultant brought out the dress, her heart dropped.

“This… this isn’t my dress,” Camille stammered, her voice barely above a whisper as she stared at the gown in shock.

The consultant looked confused. “This is the dress that was ordered, Miss Laurent. Champagne with gold embroidery, correct?”

Camille’s brows knit together, her fingers tightening on the fabric. “Yes, but it’s all wrong. The lace on the sleeves is missing, the neckline is too low, and this color is more yellow than champagne. I specifically asked for a soft gold detail, not this… this brassy color.”

The consultant’s smile faded, and she looked at the dress, then back at Camille with a nervous expression. “I’m so sorry, Miss Laurent. Let me check the notes from the last fitting. Perhaps there was a miscommunication.”

Camille felt her frustration rising as the consultant shuffled through her notes. A mistake? How could something this big have gone wrong just days before the wedding? She’d been dreaming of this gown, envisioning herself in it, and now it felt like everything had fallen apart. She took a deep breath, trying to keep her emotions in check, but her hands trembled with anger.

After a few minutes, the consultant returned, looking apologetic. “I’m so sorry, Miss Laurent. It appears there was an issue with the alterations. The wrong fabric was used, and some of the details you requested weren’t applied. We can try to correct it, but it may not be exactly what you had in mind.”

Camille’s patience snapped. “How did this even happen? I gave specific instructions, and I’ve been clear about every detail from the start. My wedding is in three days, and I don’t have a dress!”

By the time she left the boutique, her frustration had reached a boiling point. She called Noah, who picked up immediately. “Noah, are you free? Something’s wrong with the dress, and I need to talk to you and the guys.”

“Of course, Camille. We’ll all be home. Just take a deep breath, and we’ll sort it out together,” Noah said, his voice calm and reassuring.

When she arrived home, the three men were waiting in the living room, their expressions filled with concern. Camille took a deep breath, her heart pounding with a mix of anger and disappointment as she explained what had happened. Leo’s eyes narrowed, and he immediately looked ready to march down to the boutique himself.

“They messed up the dress?” he asked, his voice laced with anger. “After all the time you spent making it exactly how you wanted? That’s ridiculous.”

Matthew frowned, his gaze steady but worried. “Camille, I’m so sorry. That’s completely unacceptable. We’ll figure something out.”

Camille’s frustration bubbled over, and she threw her hands up. “But how? It’s three days before the wedding! Do you have any idea how long I spent picking out every detail of that dress? I wanted it to be perfect, to feel like… like me. And now it’s ruined!”

Noah stepped forward, reaching out to touch her arm gently. “Camille, we’ll fix this. We’ll go back to the boutique together, and we’ll talk to them. They’ll have to make it right.”

Camille shook her head, the anger in her chest refusing to subside. “You don’t understand. This dress was everything to me. I trusted them, and they let me down. Now, even if they try to fix it, it won’t be the same.”

Leo crossed his arms, frustration evident in his voice. “I think you’re letting this dress thing ruin what’s supposed to be a happy time, Camille. I mean, it’s just a dress.”

“Just a dress?” Camille repeated, her voice rising. She felt a spark of resentment, her hands clenched into fists as she glared at him. “It may be ‘just a dress’ to you, Leo, but it means a lot to me. I’ve been planning this for months, putting my heart into every detail, and now it’s ruined.”

Matthew stepped between them, his voice calm but firm. “Let’s not make this worse. Leo, I get that you’re trying to help, but Camille has every right to be upset. She’s worked hard on this wedding, and her feelings are valid.”

Noah nodded, trying to mediate. “Camille, we’ll fix this, I promise. And Leo, maybe we could be a bit more understanding. This isn’t easy for her.”

Leo sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “I’m sorry, Camille. I just… I hate seeing you so stressed. I didn’t mean to downplay it.”

Camille’s anger softened, though she still felt a knot of frustration in her chest. “I know you’re trying to help. I just… I wanted everything to be perfect, and it feels like nothing is going right.”

Noah stepped closer, his voice gentle. “It doesn’t have to be perfect, Camille. This day is about us, about the love we share. The dress, the venue… those are all just pieces. What matters is that we’ll be together, surrounded by people who care about us.”

Camille sighed, letting herself be comforted by his words. “I know, Noah. But it’s hard to let go of the vision I had. I just wanted everything to go smoothly.”

Matthew reached out, taking her hand. “We’ll do whatever it takes to make this right. We’ll go back to the boutique together, and if they can’t fix it, we’ll find another option. We’re here for you.”

Leo softened, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. “Camille, we’re in this together. No matter what, we’re getting married, and it’ll be a day to remember—whether you’re in that dress or something else entirely.”

Camille looked at each of them, her heart swelling with love and gratitude. “Thank you. I’m sorry I got so worked up. I just wanted everything to be special.”

Noah leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. “It will be special, Camille, because you’re what makes it special.”
