Between Four of Us

Chapter 99

Ch. 99 / 250 Jun 22, 2025

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm twilight glow over the garden, the atmosphere around the wedding reception shifted from heartfelt ceremony to joyous celebration. Twinkling fairy lights strung between trees flickered to life, illuminating the space with a magical glow, while laughter and the clinking of glasses filled the air. Tables were set with platters of appetizers, sparkling drinks, and a dessert table overflowing with treats Leo had insisted on, complete with the late-night snack station he’d humorously requested.

Camille, now happily out of her formal gown and in a soft, flowing dress perfect for dancing, felt a deep sense of relief and joy. She watched as her friends and family mingled, her heart full as she saw everyone coming together in celebration of her and the men she loved. The day had been everything she’d hoped for, and the unexpected challenges had only added to its uniqueness.

Noah, Leo, and Matthew had changed too, each donning casual suits that complemented the relaxed, enchanted vibe of the evening. They moved through the crowd, each in their own way: Noah talking earnestly with her parents, Leo laughing with friends, and Matthew making sure everything was going smoothly with the catering and the band. Every so often, they would catch her eye across the garden, sharing a look that made her heart skip a beat, reminding her of the vows they’d just exchanged.

Alyssa came up beside her, handing her a glass of champagne. “So, Mrs. Laurent—well, Laurents, I suppose—how does it feel to be officially married?”

Camille laughed, taking a sip as she leaned against her best friend. “It feels surreal, honestly. I keep expecting to wake up, but then I look around, and it’s all real. It’s better than I ever imagined.”

Alyssa nudged her playfully. “I saw the way they looked at you during the ceremony. Those men are head over heels for you. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Camille smiled, her eyes drifting to where Noah was now helping her grandmother to her seat. “I’m lucky, Alyssa. They’ve each given me something special, something I never knew I needed. And today… I just feel so loved.”

Before they could say more, Leo appeared beside them, a mischievous grin on his face. “Excuse me, Alyssa, but I need to steal my bride for a bit.”

Alyssa smirked, winking at Camille as she slipped away. “She’s all yours, Leo. Just make sure she actually enjoys the party instead of spending all her time checking in on everyone else.”

Leo took Camille’s hand, pulling her toward the dance floor where a band was starting to play a lively tune. “Ready to dance, Mrs. Laurent?” he asked, his grin infectious.

Camille laughed, letting him spin her around as they joined the other guests. “You know I can never resist a dance with you, Leo.”

They moved to the rhythm, their laughter mingling with the music as he twirled her, dipping her dramatically with a flourish that made everyone around them clap and cheer. Leo’s playful energy was contagious, and Camille found herself swept up in the moment, forgetting any lingering nerves or worries from earlier in the day.

As the song ended, Matthew appeared, a soft smile on his face as he extended his hand. “May I have the next dance, Mrs. Laurent?”

She took his hand, her heart fluttering at the warmth in his gaze. Unlike Leo’s lively steps, Matthew’s approach was gentle and steady, guiding her through a slow dance that allowed them to savor each moment. Camille felt herself relax into his embrace, the world around them fading away as he held her close.

“You make a beautiful bride, Camille,” he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. “Thank you for trusting us, for letting us be a part of your life.”

She looked up at him, her eyes misty with emotion. “Thank you, Matthew. For everything. For being here, for grounding me. I couldn’t have done any of this without you.”

He leaned down, pressing a tender kiss to her forehead. “We’re here for you, always.”

As the song ended, Noah approached, a gentle smile playing on his lips as he took her hand from Matthew. “My turn?” he asked softly.

Camille nodded, smiling up at him as he led her into another dance, the band now playing a song that was soft and intimate. They moved slowly, his hand warm in hers, his gaze never leaving her face. Dancing with Noah felt like coming home; his presence steady and grounding, a reminder of the deep love they shared.

“Today has been perfect, Camille,” he said, his voice filled with quiet wonder. “Even with the rain, even with the unexpected changes… it was everything I’d hoped for and more.”

She nodded, feeling a lump in her throat. “I know. It wasn’t what I planned, but it was… perfect. Because of you, and Leo, and Matthew.”

He held her close, resting his forehead against hers. “I love you, Camille. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”

The song ended, and before Camille could say anything, her friends and family gathered around, calling for a toast. Each of the men held a glass, and they raised them high, their voices filled with love and laughter as they toasted to the future.

“To Camille and her three incredible husbands,” Alyssa said, lifting her glass. “May their lives be filled with love, laughter, and endless adventures.”

Everyone cheered, clinking glasses and taking sips as the night continued. The guests began to drift toward the dessert and snack tables, chatting and laughing, while Camille stayed close to Noah, Leo, and Matthew, savoring every moment with them.

Eventually, they made their way to the edge of the garden, where they could watch the lights twinkling over the party. Camille felt Leo wrap an arm around her shoulders, his voice low as he spoke.

“You know, Camille, I think we pulled off the perfect wedding. Even with the rain, even with the last-minute changes… it was exactly what it needed to be.”

Camille nodded, feeling a soft, contented smile spread across her face. “It was perfect because of all of you. You made me feel loved, supported, and cherished. I don’t think I could ask for anything more.”

Matthew leaned in, his voice filled with warmth. “We’re here for you, Camille. Today, tomorrow, and every day after.”

Noah took her hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. “This is just the beginning. Whatever comes next, we’ll face it together.”

“Hey, if he’s got energy, that just means he’s our kid,” Leo replied, scooping Milan up and tossing him into the air. Milan shrieked with laughter as Leo caught him, twirling him around before setting him down.

Just then, Matthew entered, holding a stack of papers and wearing his reading glasses, which Milan immediately found fascinating. “Daddy Matt!” Milan called, reaching up toward him.

Matthew knelt down, smiling as he handed Milan a piece of paper. “Here, Milan. Can you help me with this? It’s very important work.”

Milan took the paper, examining it with all the seriousness his young mind could muster. Camille bit back a laugh as Milan stared at the blank sheet, nodding as if he understood. “Yes, Daddy Matt, I help.”

Matthew straightened up, exchanging a knowing look with Camille. “I see I’ve got myself an assistant. Maybe one day he’ll take over all my paperwork,” he said, his voice full of warmth.

Camille chuckled, wrapping an arm around Matthew. “Only if he can keep track of as many details as you can, Matt. And I’m not sure anyone can do that.”

Noah walked over, setting the basket on the counter and leaning against it, his expression relaxed and happy. “Alright, team, what’s the plan for today?”

Camille grinned, glancing at each of them. “Well, if the weather holds up, I thought we could have a picnic out by the lake. Milan’s been asking to go ‘fish-fishing,’ as he calls it, and I think we owe him a little adventure.”

“Fish-fishing!” Milan cheered, jumping up and down.

Leo ruffled Milan’s hair, giving him a playful grin. “You hear that, buddy? We’re going fish-fishing. You better bring your lucky fishing hat.”

Milan’s eyes lit up. “My blue hat! I get it!”

He ran off down the hall in search of his favorite hat, his little footsteps echoing as the four of them watched him with amused smiles.

Once Milan was out of earshot, Camille looked at the three men, her heart swelling with love. “You know, I never imagined I’d be here, in a house like this, with a family as wonderful as you all.”

Noah wrapped an arm around her, pulling her close. “You deserve every bit of happiness, Camille. And we’re so lucky to have you.”

Leo nodded, smirking. “Especially since you put up with us. I mean, three husbands? That takes some serious patience.”

Matthew chuckled, glancing at Leo. “It’s a wonder she hasn’t run off yet.”

Camille shook her head, laughing. “Oh, please. You three wouldn’t survive without me, and we all know it.”

“True,” Noah admitted with a grin. “Without you, who would keep us in line?”

Just then, Milan came running back with his blue fishing hat, proudly placing it on his head and tugging it down over his ears. “Ready, Mama! Let’s go fish-fishing!”

Camille knelt down, smiling as she adjusted his hat. “Alright, little fisherman. Let’s get your tackle box and some snacks, and we’ll head out.”

They gathered the picnic basket, a few fishing poles, and a blanket, and made their way to the lake behind the mansion. The water shimmered under the warm afternoon sun, and they spread the blanket out on the grass, settling in for a perfect afternoon.

Milan sat between Camille and Matthew, his small hands eagerly gripping a fishing pole that Leo helped him cast. “Daddy Leo, do fish like peanut butter?” Milan asked, wrinkling his nose thoughtfully.

Leo laughed, glancing at Camille. “Uh, I don’t think so, buddy. But maybe we’ll ask them nicely to bite anyway.”

Noah shook his head, grinning as he watched them. “Only Leo would consider negotiating with fish.”

Matthew chuckled, leaning back on the blanket. “Well, if anyone could charm them, it would be him.”

They spent the afternoon laughing, telling stories, and helping Milan reel in his “big catch” (a small fish they quickly released back into the lake). The simple joy of being together, of watching Milan experience everything with such wonder, made the day feel magical.

As the sun began to set, painting the sky in shades of pink and gold, Milan lay stretched out on the blanket, his eyes half-closed as he snuggled against Camille. His little face was a mixture of exhaustion and contentment, and Camille stroked his hair gently, feeling a deep sense of peace.

“Today was the best day ever,” Milan murmured sleepily.

Camille leaned down, kissing his forehead. “Every day with you, Milan, is the best day ever.”

Noah, Leo, and Matthew exchanged a glance, each of them smiling as they watched their son drift off to sleep. Leo placed an arm around Camille’s shoulders, his voice soft. “He’s one lucky kid.”

Camille smiled, looking around at her family, her heart full. “No, we’re the lucky ones.”

And as they sat there, wrapped in love and laughter, Camille knew that they had created a life that was more beautiful than she’d ever dreamed—a true happily ever after.
