Zander's POV
I had tried every and had already gained the support of almost half of the shareholders.
Derek was supposed to fall today!
How did it become like this?
I asked to see the voting results, only to find out that the people I had won over, especially those major shareholders, were all standing on Derek's side!
Those who had promised to support me had all turned their backs on me.
And some of them even transferred their shares to Tabitha.
Now, Tabitha held almost ten percent of the Greenwood Group's shares!
All my efforts over the years had ended in vain.
This was a huge blow to me, and I couldn't figure out what went wrong exactly!
I had known those people for a long time.
And I knew they were Derek's trusted followers. Thus, I showed my utmost sincerity just to win them over.
They also clearly indicated that they were willing to defect. But afraid of letting Derek find their betrayal, we only reached a verbal agreement.
Originally, we had agreed that once Derek was removed, I would take over his position and then transfer the shares. We had even come to an agreement on the price.
But now, I finally realized that none of these people had ever betrayed Derek.
They tricked me.
I glared at those people, with fury burning in my heart. "You tricked me!"
A minute ago, I was so confident, thinking that I was just one step away from success. But now, it was all gone. All the money and effort I had spent over the years were down the drain now.
I just simply couldn't accept this fact. Now, they must think that I was a complete fool.
I clenched my fists tightly, with my nails almost piercing my flesh. And my wolf began to show signs of losing control due to my rage.
I growled at my wolf in my mind, "I can't take this shit! I must make them pay!"
The notary announced the final result of the vote, "With insufficient votes, the proposal is rejected, and Alpha Derek remains the CEO."
Tabitha's POV
Instead of kicking Zander while he was down, Derek just glanced at him, saying coldly, "Looks like you're the one who's been taught a lesson now. But I must say thank you for letting me know the real traitors in Greenwood Group."
Zander gritted his teeth with anger, his veins bulging on his forehead. "Don't get smug. This game isn't over yet."
But Derek ignored him this time, shouting towards outside the room, "Security, show these people the door."
Then, he got up and took my hand, striding away. But before leaving, his gaze "casually" swept towards Barclay and the others.
Even though Derek didn't say a word, those people still felt threatened.
Derek had been laying low for the past two years. In the early days, everyone knew what would happen to those who betrayed him.
They wouldn't end well anyway.
Just as I walked out of the door, I felt like I was being watched by a fierce predator.
And when I turned my head, I met Zander's crazy and stubborn eyes.
He seemed to have already set his mind on winning. But I only felt that he, the illegitimate child of the Black Thorn Pack, was insane.
Then, I strode out of that oppressive room. At that moment, I felt the air outside seemed to have become much fresher.
"You know, I was quite worried about you. But I didn't expect you to win so easily," I whispered to Derek.
Honestly, when the driver told me what was going on, I was really worried. And if someone took advantage of this situation and secretly plotted against Derek, Derek might really lose this time.
When Derek saw the worried look on my face, his expression softened, and he seemed to have cheered up a bit.
He then took my hand and kissed it on the back, cooing, "For you, I won't lose." Meanwhile, he secretly said to Leo, "Leo, we won this time thanks to Tabitha. Let's protect her together and never let her worry like this again."
