Derek's POV
Sitting in the car, I closed my eyes to rest. Sensing the heavy silence, Spike asked, "Alpha Derek, did you have a falling out?"
"It's not so much a falling out as it is unfinished business," I sighed, rubbing my forehead. "That woman is completely out of her mind. Even after all these years, she's only gotten worse. If I'd known how things would turn out, I wouldn't have been so soft-hearted and helped her back then."
Ten years ago, I happened to pass through a mountain village and saw Sally in distress.
Her family was a classic example of valuing boys over girls.
Sally's older brother went to study high school in another city. As a result, her family wanted her to drop out of school and marry a local old bachelor.
She was forced to contribute money for her brother's education, only to be beaten by her parents for her efforts.
I'm not one to show kindness indiscriminately, but something about her situation moved me. I saw her profile as I drove by and felt compelled to help.
Back then, Sally hadn't grown up yet and looked about two or three years younger than Tabitha.
At first sight, it reminded me of the girl I had met before.
I had been in distress myself, so I wanted to help someone else as much as I could.
I kindly helped Sally by giving her a hand to continue her studies.
I didn't really pay much attention to Sally, but little did I know that since that day, Sally had developed an obsession with me, even resorting to extreme measures to force my attention.
She didn't understand that men only feel pity for the women they care about.
Since I had no feelings for her, her actions only made me more repelled.
"Alpha Derek, she has the evidence. What should we do?"
"How could she have learned about hiring a hitman in just a few years? It suggests she's connected with some powerful people. This situation can't be handled with conventional methods. If I'm right, she'll likely hold a grudge and become furious with me. What would you do in my place?"
"The alliance, as we have found out now, consists of seven or eight companies that have joined forces. They not only spread rumors indiscriminately but also manipulate online trolls, putting the Greenwood Group in the spotlight."
"Yes, she would definitely have chosen the alliance, stabbing me in the back and stepping on me hard. She might even have hoped that I would turn back and beg her for mercy."
"This woman is so ungrateful. Alpha Derek, you shouldn't have helped her. It was clear back then that she orchestrated her own kidnapping drama, and her brother directed all his hatred toward you, seeking personal revenge. It's truly despicable."
"People are such creatures, where even the greatest favors cannot outweigh the slightest grudges. Let's return to the company. The higher-ups have all started making a fuss."
"Alright, now that we know she has the evidence, should we try some other means?" I rubbed my forehead, "I know what to do. Start the car."
I took out my phone, edited the recording I had just made, and sent it to a person with a black profile picture.
"Sent it to her husband." Since she conspired against me, I saw no reason to show her mercy.
At the Greenwood Group, senior executives and shareholders had gathered. I had always been capable, so everyone trusted me to manage the company.
No one anticipated such a major issue would arise; even shareholders who were vacationing abroad rushed back in haste.
The shareholders, usually too timid to challenge me, were now banging the table in frustration.
"What on earth happened to you? The situation has been escalating for a whole day and night! The entire Greenwood Group is in chaos: the finance department is arrested, the public relations team is silent, and human resources is in a panic. As the CEO, what are you thinking?"
