Derek's POV
I came to my grandfather Elliott's yard and found him holding Tabitha and saying something.
"Grandpa, what are you talking about?" I approached.
Tabitha looked surprised and said, "So, you are Alpha Elliott."
Tabitha continued to explain, "Alpha Elliott, please wake up. I am Tabitha, not Shana."
Elliott stared at her for a while, his fingers tightening around her wrist.
"It's impossible. You are clearly Shana. You can't deceive me. What are you talking about?"
Tabitha was a little helpless.
Just when Tabitha didn't know what to do, I took a few steps forward and pulled Elliott's hand, "Grandpa, this is my wife. You have mistaken."
"It's pure nonsense. How can Shana be your wife? And you, you little brat, why are you calling me grandpa? I don't even have a son, let alone a grandson!"
I looked at Elliott, feeling sorry for him. After all, from my childhood to adulthood, despite his strictness, he always gave me enough love.
Elliott was the most important person to me. It was heartbreaking to witness his transformation from the decisive and quick-witted figure he once was in the business world to someone who now failed to recognize even his own family.
Elliott instinctively reached out to grab Tabitha's hand, "Shana, I finally found you."
Tabitha was so scared that she hid behind me, but suddenly I realized something. I grabbed Elliott's hand and asked, "Do you know her? Who is she?"
"She is..." Elliott was about to say something, but he didn't know what came to his mind. He reached for his head, covering it, as if struggling to recall, with a pained expression on his face.
"Sir, are you okay?" Tabitha asked anxiously. "Should we call a doctor to come to check him? He seems to be in a lot of discomfort."
"Tabitha," Elliott's eyes reappeared clear, "you are Tabitha, long time no see."
He put Tabitha's and my hands together, with a look of contentment on his face. "Seeing you two so loving, your grandmother can rest in peace in heaven."
"Grandpa, you remembered everything."
"Yeah, after your grandmother passed away, my condition has been unstable, especially during this recent period. I've been living in a fog. Derek, you've always been my greatest concern in life." Elliott's lips curved into a warm and amiable smile. "Now tell me, you two have been together for quite some time, so is there any good news you'd like to share with me? Is Tabitha pregnant?"
Obviously, Alpha Elliott was unaware of what had happened in the past three years, assuming that Tabitha and I remained as sweet and happy as it was when he left.
"Not yet." I didn't say much, "I have been quite busy these past few years."
"Busy? Is there anything more important than your marriage and family?" Elliott reached out and tapped my head, "If your grandmother were still alive, she would have to use a cane to knock your head. Is there something troubling you that you feel embarrassed to share with us?"
I was awkward. Grandpa was as annoying as ever, not as cute as when he was senile.
"By the way, Grandpa, what did you just say to Tabitha while holding her hand? Who is Shana and what is your relationship with her?"
I never ceased in my search for Shana mentioned by the old lady. However, that period was truly tumultuous, and there were scant records remaining. Tracking someone down was not easy, particularly for a woman who deliberately concealed her identity.
I had a feeling that the Shana mentioned by Elliott was the same person. In that recent situation, he obviously mistook Tabitha for Shana.
My wolf was also curious about this mysterious Shana in my mind.
It seemed to remind me that this Shana might have some kind of connection with our destiny.
I looked at Elliott, hoping that he would give an answer.
Elliott, however, fell into contemplation. After a while, he slowly said, "What did you say?"
I asked persistently, "Grandpa, please think again. She is important to us. Maybe she can unravel some mysteries."
