Tabitha's POV
Derek's mother, Andrea, also had an Alpha bloodline. Her family's Thunder Pack was situated on the outskirts of the southern city.
Here the mountains were beautiful and the waters were clear. Everywhere I walked was covered with various vegetation.
Not long ago, there should have been a light rain. The water vapor on the road surface had already evaporated, but the air was filled with the refreshing scent emitted by the vegetation after the rain.
The lanterns of this pack were also very unique. Some were like strings of stars falling from tall plants, and among them were also many lanterns shaped like mushrooms, pumpkins, or various small animals and fairies.
Rather than a pack of wolves, it was more like humans stumbling into another fantastical world.
When we arrived at the Thunder Pack, it was already 8 o'clock in the evening.
The Thunder Pack was large, surrounded by estates. It was difficult to see clearly at night, but one could vaguely make out the outlines of the trimmed flower branches along the roadside.
The air was filled with a strong floral scent, and as the car passed by, it startled the birds on the roadside, causing them to take flight.
The villa had the unique style of this city, with bright lights all around.
I took a distant look and noticed that this villa was several times larger than our marital home, especially the main entrance, which resembled the gate to heaven, exuding grandeur and holiness everywhere.
I stepped on the soft carpet and followed Derek into the living room. As far as the eye could see, all the decorations could only be described as magnificent and splendid.
I felt like I had arrived at the palace.
Everywhere my gaze passed, there were expensive paintings, valuable porcelain, and antiques. The places visited were all magnificent and grand.
Fortunately, I was not a civilian, so I didn't have a strong reaction. Instead, I felt a bit uncomfortable.
This place didn't resemble a home. It was more like a museum or a palace, except there was not a trace of liveliness.
My wolf also sensed this unusual atmosphere in my consciousness, and it seemed to be wary of this unfamiliar environment.
Derek's expression was solemn and serious, giving me the impression that he was not going home, but rather paying a visit to the Lycan King, or attending a more formal occasion.
Even I found myself inexplicably getting a bit tense.
I rarely asked about his mother's stories all the way here. His third birthday banquet must have left a deep impression on him.
We were about to meet each other today. What expression would she have?
I curiously turned my head towards Derek, who tightly pursed his thin lips, emanating a fierce aura.
A cold and clear female voice came from above the head, saying, "You've arrived."
Calm and still, it was as if a beam of cold light pierced through the clouds and shone down from the sky.
I instinctively looked up and saw a woman wearing a white dress standing on the second floor of the spiral staircase.
I took a deep breath and knew long ago that a mother who could give birth to a son like Derek must be very beautiful.
Thinking about her history, I had pictured her image before. In my mind, she should be a crazy beautiful woman.
But the woman in front of me was clearly not like the madwoman in the attic of Mr. Rochester's house in "Jane Eyre" that I had seen for the first time.
She was desolate and noble, like the bright moon in the sky, which could only be admired from afar and not be profaned.
Those delicate facial features showed no signs of aging even after years had passed. Paired with a dress and a pale white complexion, the clear blue bracelet on her wrist complements her beauty, making her look as pure as jade.
No matter how you looked at her, she was a lonely beauty, completely disconnected from the idea of being obsessed with romance.
What was Ambrose thinking? She was a beautiful woman!
Even I, as a woman, felt attracted when I saw her.
Having not seen each other for many years, she must have been excited. How could she be so calm?
Derek replied calmly, "Yes."
Just like mother, like son. They were both equally indifferent.
Derek held my hand and introduced, "Mom, this is your daughter-in-law, Tabitha."
I nodded slightly and politely said, "Hello, Andrea."
Andrea's gaze fell upon me, with a hint of scrutiny and detachment in her eyes.
I could feel that she was not enthusiastic about me, but I was not surprised either.
