Derek's POV
During the short break, I was extremely busy. Alvin and Rolf were not around, so I had to handle many things myself.
Spike was temporarily brought over by me. Considering the shareholder vote in half an hour, he wasn't afraid.
"I really feel it's not worth it, Alpha Derek. You have been wholeheartedly devoted to the company for these years so that the Greenwood Group is able to develop so well. These people are actually repaying kindness with enmity," Spike said angrily.
I lit a cigarette. "This incident may not necessarily be a bad thing. I have long suspected someone has been up to something behind the scenes, and this is a perfect opportunity to expose the mole."
"Alpha Derek, are you planning to rectify the company?"
"Him and I... Sooner or later, the day will come," I said, exhaling a puff of smoke. "I'll make him understand the consequences of coveting something that doesn't belong to him."
Spike took out his phone and glanced at it. "Alpha Derek, you are right. After you left, Sally indeed went to meet a man."
"Who is he?" Spike enlarged the photo on his phone. I saw a man dressed in an elegant white suit, with thin lips resting on the edge of a coffee cup.
With just a side silhouette, I could feel the man's gentle temperament.
I sneered, "Sure enough, it's him. He has been frequently in contact with the senior executives of the company over the years. Rome wasn't built in a day. Today, more than half of the people standing up are the result of his efforts."
"Alpha Derek, you can just take this opportunity to catch them all at once. By the way, Alpha Derek, the person who splashed sulfuric acid will be released tonight."
"Lock him up. Don't do anything to him for now. He still has great value. Where is Baldwin?"
"Just got off the plane back to the country. I suppose he already knew."
"Has the person who manipulated public opinion from overseas been found yet?" I asked.
Spike shook his head. "The IP address is virtual and keeps changing every few seconds. It's the work of a skilled hacker manipulating things from behind the scenes."
"No, there is one more person!" I affirmed. "His target is me and the Greenwood Group. The one behind the sulfuric acid attack and the knife assault, however, is after Tabitha. This person must be the mastermind behind the Black Wolf Guild's hired killings."
There were too many people and objectives involved in this matter, with numerous threads converging into a tangled mess.
Many pawns were dragged in to deceive me, making it a challenge to unravel the truth.
"So Tabitha may be in danger at any time."
"In addition to declaring Tabitha as my wife to fulfill her wish, the goal was also to draw out the mastermind. Only when Tabitha appeared would this person take action.
"The more actions, the easier it would be to follow the clues. Now, it seems the mastermind is very formidable, as there isn't a single clue. We can confirm that this person is definitely not in Seattle, but somewhere else."
"Yeah, that killer committed suicide at the police station not long ago, as for the person who splashed sulfuric acid, he had no idea what had happened."
"If one plan fails, this person will come again. Has everything been arranged on Tabitha's side?"
"Alpha Derek, rest assured, additional manpower has been deployed."
My assistant knocked on the door. "Alpha Derek, all the shareholders have arrived and are waiting for you in the conference room."
"Let's go." I stood up and walked towards the conference room.
The door opened, and to my surprise, someone was sitting in my seat.
This person resembled me in appearance but had a gentler and more refined temperament, making him seem less aggressive.
He looked up at me and gave a provocative smile, saying, "Long time no see, big brother."
