Derek's POV
I had considered this possibility before. Deep down in my heart, it was the thing I feared the most.
"The efficacy of this medicine is very stable. I won't give her a chance to remember it."
Elliott said, "There's nothing that's set in stone, but for now, your priority should be to deal with Daphne's issues and stop her from making more trouble. Given how things have unfolded, you need to minimize the damage as quickly as possible. Moreover, it would be ideal if Tabitha could get pregnant sooner." I frowned and replied, "Tabitha has had two premature births in a row, which has seriously weakened her physical health. The likelihood of her getting pregnant again is quite slim."
Elliott said, "If her health is frail, it would be wise to seek medical attention. Women are often guided by their emotions. Have you ever considered what she might do once she recalls all the past actions on your part?" I reflected on how she still kept her guard up around me despite her memory loss, which made me realize the deep-seated aversion Tabitha had towards me, almost instinctively.
"She would not hesitate to choose to leave."
Elliott said, "Yes, she might leave. In her heart, Kyrian is the child born of your betrayal with Daphne. You need to have a child that is truly yours together. Once a woman becomes a mother, even if she has issues with you, she'll stay for the child's sake. She is the daughter-in-law I've chosen, and she was someone your grandmother liked when she was alive. I don't want you to lose her." Just thinking about it caused a pang in my heart. "Grandpa, that day will never come."
"I'll handle this and try to get her pregnant as soon as possible," I said, my voice tinged with hesitation and my eyes reflecting my concern. The premature births had taken a toll on Tabitha, particularly the most recent one just a few months back. I was reluctant to have her conceive again so soon. Yet, Elliott had a point. A child could indeed be the unbreakable bond between a couple.
Should I want her to get pregnant again?
"Grandpa, I have another question."
"Speak your mind."
I asked, "Do you really not know Shana?" Elliott replied without hesitation, "I don't know. Who is this Shana?" I scrutinized his eyes for any sign of deceit but found none. I failed to notice that Elliott's fingers were clenched tightly behind his back.
Tabitha's POV
I came from the courtyard to the living room, and Alpha Elliott inexplicably gave me a task, which left me a bit puzzled.
I had to go and consult Andrea first.
I hadn't even reached her yet when I heard a sarcastic remark in my ear.
"Mrs. Greenwood, this is a dish I just learned. Does it suit your taste? Oh, isn't this Ms. Hartley? Are you awake now?"
I couldn't help but roll my eyes, thinking to myself, 'Who is this? Being so noisy early in the morning.'
"Ms. Arnold, you're quite early. Even the employees who clock in for work aren't as proactive as you."
"Don't you see, among the werewolves in the pack, there isn't a mate as lazy and careless as you? Perhaps it's because your family died early, so you don't even understand the most basic rules. You must have come from a weak wolf pack, unlike our Arnold family with a strict upbringing..."
Hearing this, I almost burst out laughing.
I walked directly to Andrea's side and sat down.
That remark just now was really funny. I couldn't help but burst into laughter.
"What are you laughing at? Did I say something wrong?"
I chuckled, "Every word of yours is quite funny. Honestly, I've never seen a girl with a strict upbringing hanging out at a married man's house every day. Are you hard of hearing or just not sharp-minded? Can't you understand what marriage means? Or are you hoping the Black Thorn Pack will give you a side-piece status for your good performance?"
"You..."
"But hey, it seems you've overlooked something. Monogamy is the rule here, and even if there were alternatives, you'd still need my consent. How about you come over, fetch some water, and give a few back rubs for a few days to demonstrate your value?"
