Third person's POV
Before Tabitha could even comprehend, Andrea had already left, leaving behind a graceful figure for Tabitha.
Tabitha blinked at Derek and lowered her voice as she asked, "What exactly is your mother's attitude?"
"Try the authentic cuisine. Let's go," Derek didn't answer her question and led her to the restaurant.
Andrea had already taken a seat, her gaze fixed on the intertwined fingers of Derek and Tabitha, freezing for a moment.
Kelsey came over with a bowl of soup and saw Derek pulling out a chair for Tabitha. He sat down only after Tabitha had sat down.
He placed the appetizers in front of Tabitha, who was sitting far away.
If he indulged Tabitha outside, it was highly likely that it was just a facade to please his wife. But today, there is no one else here, so who is he putting on a show for?
There was only one explanation, and that was the way they interacted, just like an ordinary couple.
Taking a closer look at herself, Kelsey realized that she was just like a cook, originally intending to gain some favor.
As she put down the bowl of soup, she looked at Tabitha with a face full of resentment and said, "Miss Hartley, I really envy you. Even after marrying Derek, you still consider yourself a guest."
This statement was full of sarcasm towards Tabitha, both explicitly and implicitly.
Tabitha didn't get angry at all and smiled, saying, "There's no way, I was born not to like doing these things, unlike Miss Arnold who is so talented and kind-hearted, she does better than the servants and doesn't even take money."
This was when she was being called a free laborer behind her back, and Kelsey had even more room to show her potential.
She hesitated and looked at Derek. Derek could see the difference between himself and Tabitha if his eyes were not blind.
I was hardworking, kind, gentle, and considerate, while Tabitha was a lazy woman.
Derek raised his chin coldly and said, "Get lost."
Kelsey couldn't help but look at Andrea again and said, "Mrs. Greenwood, what do you say..."
Andrea's face turned cold, "The meal is ready. You may go back now."
Kelsey widened her eyes and said, "But I... I haven't eaten yet."
She must have misheard; how could Andrea drive her away?
"Tonight is a family banquet. It is inconvenient if you stay here," implying that she is an outsider.
Kelsey couldn't believe it, she had poured her heart and soul into him, only to end up with such an outcome.
After spending the whole afternoon helping in the kitchen, she hadn't even taken a bite of the meal that she had prepared.
However, she had been getting along with Andrea for two years and gradually figured out Andrea's temperament. She didn't know if Andrea had been hurt too deeply in the past, to the point where she was now cold and indifferent towards anyone and anything.
Kelsey reconciled with herself again. She pretended to be understanding and said, "Yes, then I will come to see you another day, Mrs. Greenwood. I'll leave now."
Before leaving, she didn't forget to give Tabitha a disdainful look. She had tried for two years without success. Could she change Andrea?
Tabitha waved to her. "Goodbye, Miss Arnold."
The atmosphere was very quiet at the table. Derek was already a man of few words, and Andrea was even colder.
Only Tabitha remained restless. What was going on with this mother and son?
But they hadn't seen each other for a long time.
Why didn't you say a word?
She indeed didn't understand what the meal was for. She felt quite full.
Andrea glanced at her and said, "If you don't have an appetite, then don't eat."
Tabitha was just about to say that she was hungry and wanted something to eat.
That was when she heard Andrea elegantly wiping the corners of her mouth with a napkin and saying, "A plate of spaghetti, mashed potatoes, chicken burger, three grilled shrimps, tuna rice ball, tuna sandwich, and meatballs with herbs. Have you finished digesting them?"
Tabitha thought to herself, 'Didn't see this coming'.
