Tabitha's POV
A loud noise suddenly echoed in the conference room.
I saw Derek instantly furious, as he kicked Zander's chair.
His strength was like a ferocious beast on the attack, and with the help of the pulleys below, he moved so fast that he left a blur.
By the time I realized what happened, Zander had already been kicked against the wall and ended up sprawled on the floor, looking utterly embarrassed.
The onlookers hurriedly helped him up in a flustered manner, "Zander, are you okay?"
It was clear that Derek was really furious. He had smashed the chair to pieces.
If it weren't for the chair bearing too much force, it would have been Zander who was shattered to pieces.
"I'm fine," Zander said with a strained smile that didn't quite reach his eyes like it usually did.
Barclay's face turned pale, and he snapped, "I didn't expect you two to be so ruthless!"
He didn't dare to vent his anger directly at Derek, so he turned to me. "Ms. Hartley, today is the shareholders' voting meeting, not a place for you. If you're here to wait for Alpha Derek, I suggest you wait in the VIP lounge."
Over the years, Derek had kept me well hidden, and Barclay didn't realize how much he cared about me. He didn't even consider me as the Luna of the Black Thorn Pack.
Seeing Derek about to get angry again, I quickly pressed his hand and tried to calm his anger.
"Since it's a shareholders' meeting, I have no reason to leave. Barclay, you may not know yet, but just a few days ago, I was also a shareholder with shares in the equity change," I said with a smile.
Barclay was taken aback. "What did you say? You have shares?"
"I was still going through the transfer process before, and luckily the process just ended today. Now, I am officially a shareholder," I said.
The day after I came to, Derek made me sign a bunch of papers for no apparent reason. I didn't really pay them much mind because there were just so many!
Only today did I find out that among the documents I signed were not only stock transfers but also property transfers for houses and car registrations.
It was an immeasurable fortune. If the driver hadn't hurriedly come over to explain the reason to me, I would still have been kept in the dark.
Derek really spoiled me to the core!
These days, we had been going through the process, and there had been no changes in the equity. It had also made Zander go all-in with a desperate gamble.
So, Barclay did not expect an accident to happen at this crucial juncture.
But Zander quickly regained his composure.
I knew that Zander had worked hard for so long, and the necessary arrangements had already been made. Even if Derek transferred his shares, he would only transfer his own shares, and the total number would remain unchanged.
So, Zander brushed the dust off himself, ignored the scrapes on his body, and returned to his seat.
"Since Ms. Hartley is also a shareholder, let's officially begin and not waste time on trivial matters." He spoke with confidence, like he was the one calling the shots in his own backyard.
I found it odd. We were both here for the first time, so how come he had the nerve to act like he owned the place?
Derek sat down on my left, and Zander took the seat on my right, two similar faces facing off against each other.
"Let's get started," Zander said with full confidence. He never fought a battle he was not sure of winning.
Barclay didn't pretend anymore. He just stood by Zander's side and started voting.
As the vote counting began, the first few votes were all for dismissal, but as it progressed, the situation changed. Zander's smile started to fade.
When the total votes were tallied, the number of votes for dismissal accounted for only one-third.
Zander slammed the table and exclaimed, "Impossible! Absolutely impossible!"
He angrily glared at the people around him, exuding a sense of hostility like he was ready to tear everyone apart.
I could sense the frustration and rage within him. It seemed like everything he had meticulously planned was about to crumble.
Derek gazed at Zander with a chilling indifference, a flicker of scorn darting across his eyes. "Zander, do you really believe you can manipulate everything? This is what you underestimate about me."
I tightly held Derek's hand, giving him support and comfort.
Derek turned his head slightly toward me, with a hint of tenderness in his eyes.
He seemed to be saying, "Tabitha, thank you for being by my side. With you here, I am not afraid of anything."
I responded to him with a smile, letting him know that I would always be there with him.
At this point, Zander was on the verge of losing control. His fists clenched tightly, and his body trembled slightly as if he was trying hard to suppress his rage.
His wolfish nature was slightly revealed at that moment. There was a fierce glint in his eyes as if he might erupt at any moment.
Derek, on the other hand, sat there steadily, exuding the authority of an Alpha. His presence was powerful and composed, making those around him feel his control.
