Derek
"Let Melody live her life with Dorian."
I marched away from Malcolm and stood a little far away from him. I might end up hurting my best friend if I didn't.
What the hell is wrong with Malcolm? How could he ask that of me?
He wants me to leave Melody with Dorian. How Is that possible?
Asking to leave Melody is like asking me to stop living. How can I do that?
"Please Derek, do not make her life harder than it already is. Happiness is all she deserves."
Listening to Malcolm plead to me like I was the villain in Melody's life made me feel immense pain deep in my heart.
Something in me shattered at Malcolm's words. I could never have imagined that he thought so badly of me.
"Is that what you want?" I turned to the window as I spoke because I was well aware that whatever I said to him would hurt him more than he already is. Or worse, he might hate me for whatever I was about to say.
"Yes. Please, Derek, let Melody live peacefully. It's the least you can do for her, after all, she's been through.....thanks to you."
Thanks to me?
I never intended to make Melody suffer so much. I didn't even know that she was carrying my pups. Why am I now the bad person?
I was hurt by Malcolm's words. So hurt that I couldn't explain which one hurt the most.
"You may leave," I muttered softly as I tried to hide the anger I'm my voice.
Malcolm and I have come a long way and I do not intend to put an end to our friendship just because of this.
I love Melody and so does Malcolm. I'm sure he'd do what's best for her when the time comes.
"Huh?" Malcolm raised his head abruptly. He seemed surprised to hear me say that.
Well, it's the least I could do to keep my friendship with him.
"I said leave!" I hissed. "You're dismissed."
"Yes, majesty," he bowed and walked out of the room.
As soon as he was gone. I sat on the couch and his words replayed in my head. I could hear his words play on replay in my head.
Malcolm doesn't want me for Melody. He thinks Dorian is a better choice than I am, why?
Why does he think that I have nothing to offer Melody but pain?
I stood up from the couch and went towards the bed. I lay on my back with my hands propping my head as I counted the stars on the roofing sheet.
Melody was all that was on my mind.
I was slowly losing everything I held dear. My mate. My pups and now my best friend.
What do I do to make Malcolm see that I sincerely want to be with Melody? How do I show him that I love Melody?
I tossed and lay on my side as I thought about it.
Being with Melody and my pups is all I want. Is that too much to ask?
I closed my eyes and thought of what to do to redeem myself before Melody.
Even though I cannot take back the pain and hurt I've given her. I just wish she would find it in her heart to forgive me.
I waited six years to find her. I spent several years dreaming of holding her, and now that I found her, I can't even hold her in my arms.
And now, Malcolm is asking me to leave her forever.
No way!
I must figure out a way to correct my mistakes and get back everything I've lost.
My woman and my pups, and I would make sure that I do not lose my friendship with Malcolm.
I closed my eyes and tried to think but nothing came to my mind. It was blank.
All that appeared in my mind was Melody's laughter. Her sweet voice. Her cold and Venomous words sound loudly in my ear like the sound of a trumpet playing to torment my soul.
"Your majesty."
I opened my eyes at the call of my name. But I smiled as a thought crossed my mind.
Now, I know how to go about it. I know how to win Melody back.
"Your breakfast is here," the voice announced, bringing me back to reality.
I arranged myself and stood up before sitting back down. I was so excited that I had forgotten that there was someone at the door.
"Majesty," the voice called again, reminding me that he was right at the door expecting approval to come in.
I sat up straight and made sure that I was sitting as I should as king. "Come on in."
A man came in with a tray. He bowed and set it on the table before me.
"Where is Malcolm?" I asked as I picked an apple from the tray.
"I saw him around the king post a few minutes ago."
"Alright," I nod.
I will go and meet him and have a word with him. However, on second thought, I decided to go and have a word with him.
I couldn't digest the food properly because Malcolm was all I could think of. I kept thinking If he'd accept my apology and make me be with his sister.
I need to show him how much I care for Melody and how good I am for her.
"Ask him over," I ordered but the guard raised his head abruptly...
"Huh?"
"Ask Malcolm to come and see me right away?"
"Yes Majesty," the guard went out. But I couldn't stay back. I was eager to prove myself to him. So, I paced restlessly as I expected him.
"You called for me," Malcolm came in and bowed.
However, the usual smile and jovial expression on his face was gone. He looked like a stranger to me. I couldn't recognize my friend.
I went straight to him and stopped before him.
"Malcolm," I began.
I was finding it hard to proceed with what I had planned but I knew that I had to lose something to gain something.
Even if I have to lose my ego to gain the woman after my heart, then I see nothing wrong with that.
I slowly went down on my knees and begged.
"I know that I haven't been a good man to you and your sister, but....." I paused and raised my head to see the perplexed expression on his face.
"Majesty, please don't do this."
Malcolm was about to stop me from doing that but I was determined. I ignored his interruption and continued with what I wanted to say.
".....I want you to forgive me, Mal, and give me a second chance. To make things right with you and Melody."
