With a confused mind, Mia picked up her handbag from the couch and proceeded to her bedroom. Based on She and Colton's agreement, she was to complete her packing immediately she got home but now that he was angry at her, she had no idea what was going to happen.
Mia Edwards picked out her outfit for work the next day after which she undressed and got into the shower. The moment she finished dressing up for the night, there was a knock on the door so she went to answer it.
"Look who just came back from Sicily? Mrs soon-to-be Colton Royal. Gosh, I missed you." Hailey pulled her bestie into a hug.
"I missed you too, babe," Mia mumbled.
Hailey could tell something wasn't right so she pulled away from the hug. "What's wrong? You sound sad. I had expected you to have smiles all over your face. Didn't you enjoy your Vacation?"
Mia sighed. She shut the door behind Hailey and ushered her in.
"Talk to me, Babe. You're scaring me. I almost went insane when you told me you were going to Italy. I was so freaking happy for you and Colt and now that I'm here for all the juicy details, you don't look happy. Is Colton okay?"
"Yeah, Colt is fine!" Mia said with a small smile.
"I don't believe you. That smile is forced."
"Fine, we fought! Happy?" Mia said, then went to sit on the couch.
"Fight? Are you silly? Why would I be happy about that? You all literally reconciled last week, what's up with the fight?" Hailey sat beside her best friend.
Mia massaged her temple. "I'm sorry, I just don't understand what went wrong. We had an amazing time in Sicily. He took me places, treated me like a Queen, and to answer your juicy details question in general, Yes, we made love and we couldn't get enough of each other. We didn't even want to come home yet."
That statement brought a proud smile to Hailey's face.
Mia groaned. "There's nothing to smile about, Hail. Colton is probably done with me!"
"Calm down babe, tell me what happened" Hailey intertwined her hand with Mia's own.
"He followed me in while the driver waited downstairs. We shared a kiss and I thanked him for the vacation because I had a really good time. Then he said that he had a gift for me. I panicked because I'm still not over all the gifts he got for me in Sicily."
"He wanted me to have his credit card or a certain amount will be paid into my account every week for my upkeep. I refused, giving him reasons why I can't accept either of them and he lost it. He said I should just say it in his face that I hate it when he cares for me. Then, to my surprise, he stormed out. He didn't even give me any room for explanation. No proper goodbye. No kiss, no hugs, he just stormed out."
"I literally did nothing wrong. I don't know why he was upset by that." Mia added.
Hailey chuckled a little. "You both are something else."
"Don't worry, I'm sure he will come around. He's probably upset because he wants you to have it all and you're not giving him the chance to spoil you."
Mia sighed. "I don't know why he's refusing to understand that he has provided me with more than enough. I mean, why do I need $200,000 in my account every week?"
"$200,000???? That's insane!" Hailey mumbled.
"I thought so too. He even thought I was complaining about the amount being small and wanted to give me a raise."
"I'm so shocked and I'm not happy that he got angry over this. I mean Colton is very understanding. He's a good listener. He should have understood things from my perspective. I'm still trying to get used to his glamorous life and suddenly, he wants me to co-own his credit card?"
"I hated the fact that he brought up Christoph in the conversation."
"He did?" Hailey frowned.
"He said I was willing to go bankrupt for Christoph and yet, I come up with excuses when he wants to provide for me."
"Christoph is my past, why does he have to bring up his name? Besides, the situation is different here. Don't you think so?" She asked Hailey.
"Mia, Colton wants to give you the world and I think he's pissed that you aren't letting him. I'm not related to a Billionaire but I think this is how they all are. They want their women to have more than enough. After all, what's the essence of their years of hard work if they can't spend lavishly on their family?"
Mia scoffed.
"I understand your point too babe, but you're already entangled in Colton's world so it's best if you get used to it."
Mia sighed for the 100th time, resting her back on the couch.
"I don't think he has ever been mad at me. He didn't even react this way when I disappeared to Tessie's place and you all were looking for me. Apparently, we had our first official fight and it's over a petty issue."
Hailey chuckled. "You call this petty? You will be surprised by the things Enoch and I fight about. But once the anger subsides, we apologize to each other."
"If you don't like the idea of seeing scary figures in your bank account, then I think it's preferable to just hold on to the credit card. But I hope you guys settle soon. I can't stand to see you both being sad."
Mia shrugged. "He was the one who walked out on me! I called him back trying to give a proper explanation but he ignored."
"Now's not the time to show how stubborn you can be, babe."
"I'm definitely not reaching out to him first if that's what you were hoping for."
"I honestly don't care who reaches out to who first. I just want you all to settle."
"Hopefully!" Mia mumbled. She rose to her feet. "I'll go get your gift."
"You got me a gift?" Hailey smiled.
"I picked it, Colton paid. Remember to thank him whenever you see him."
Mia left for her room and came back almost immediately with a small gift bag. It was in the handbag she took in a while ago.
Hailey unboxed the item and came face to face with a gorgeous jewelry set. (A gold necklace with matching earrings and bracelets.)
"Oh my God, Mia. This is so beautiful." Hailey cooed as she took out the jewelry from the box to admire them.
"I know. You deserve the best so I picked the best jewelry they had in the shop. It's going to look really good on you."
"Thank you, Babe. Gosh, I can only imagine how much it must have cost."
Mia was about to say something but Hailey stopped her. "You don't have to tell me. I don't want to pass out in your living room. Just know that I'll forever cherish this."
Mia chuckled. "I don't even remember how much it cost. There were no Price tags, we got a couple of things in the jewelry shop and they were kind enough to give us discounts."
Hailey nodded, putting the jewelry back in the box.
"So, what was the most exciting thing you and Colt did in Sicily?" Hailey couldn't help but ask.
"Hailey " Mia groaned, trying to hide her blush.
"Something really dirty isn't it?"
"Why do you always have a dirty mind?" Mia challenged.
"I don't. You are the one who's blushing so I just figured it out. Besides, you look really different."
"Different?" Mia frowned.
Hailey nodded. "A different glow. One that tells you had a really good fuck over the week."
Mia reached for the throw pillow by her side and threw it at her best friend.
"Oh sweetheart, there's nothing to be shy about. Of course, the sexiest man alive has to be good in bed so your glow is expected."
Mia groaned. "Don't make me send you out of my apartment."
"I'm going to stop but that's because your cheeks are red enough." She placed her hands on Mia's own and looked into her eyes. "I'm glad you're with Colton. Make sure you reach out to him and settle whatever differences are between you two."
"Thanks. I'll try." Mia mumbled.
................
Mia Edwards woke up feeling cranky. Why? She literally spent hours staring at her phone last night, hoping a call or message from Colton would come through but NO. Nothing came through.
She went to bed feeling uncomfortable and unfulfilled. She didn't even have a good sleep because she kept on tossing around. Perhaps, her body was used to having Colton around her and snuggling in his arms as she slept.
Mia's heart broke the more when she woke up, checked her phone, and saw nothing. No missed calls or text messages from Colton. It took a whole lot of self-control not to smash her new phone against the wall.
She was tempted to call him too but she had no idea what was holding her back. It really broke her heart that Colton hadn't reached out to her. It only showed that he didn't care about her.
After feeling shitty for a couple of minutes, Mia reluctantly dragged herself out of bed to prepare for work.
At about 11 am, Mia received a call from Hailey. She heaved a sigh of disappointment when she was the caller ID. She was hoping it would be Colt but it wasn't. She was meant to move in with him today but she doubted if that was still happening since she hasn't heard anything from him.
With a heavy heart, Mia answered the call.
"Hey," She said to the other side.
"Where are you, Mia?" Hailey's voice came through.
"At the office. What is it?" Mia said, not liking Hailey's tone.
"Put on the TV. I don't like what I'm seeing on the news. It's about Colton…...."
