Andrea chuckled, shaking her head in amusement. She seemed to be having a swell time seeing me Jealous. "There will be no need for that. The woman would be out in about a minute from now, let's say thirty seconds or maybe__"
She stopped speaking when the door to Noah's office opened and the naked woman came out now fully dressed. She looked like she was crying or had been crying.
She banged the door of Noah's office and started to walk out of the waiting room with her head down.
"Hey are you OK?" I asked.
She was just as tall and slim as I was with tiny freckles on her cheeks. Her hair was so red and sleek I wanted to run my hand through it to feel its texture.
She was indeed beautiful.
I wondered what could have happened to her, because just now In the office she was looking so confident and happy so why was she crying now just in the space of minutes. What could Noah have done to make her cry?
She looked up at me with anger in her light green eyes. "Mind your own goddamn business!" She hissed, walking out.
I gasped. shocked at her reaction to me. I mean she did not know me from anywhere, where the animosity and anger came from that I did not know.
Maybe when I opened the door Noah noticed and decided to send her away hence she was angry that I interrupted her dick appointment.
Did she think it all to be my fault, I didn't even know she was there. I don't even know her. And as for Noah God knew I wanted nothing to do with him again. I planned to focus on my job and my happiness.
If he thought sending her away would make me continue to yearn for his trap then he had other things coming.
It's been years of sadness, I did deserve a little bit of happiness with a man who would have eyes for only me.
Noah was definitely no different from Adrian. Only Scar was true to me, funny how his name was Noah, but he bore no semblance to the Noah who now happened to be my boss. I felt stupid for ever thinking they were the same persons.
I turned to Andrea with my mouth slightly agape. She shrugged. "Yeah, yeah. I see that a lot. She would be fine not to worry."
I chuckled drily. "I guess so. Ehm I will just go give him this."
Andrea nodded and went back to typing on her computer although there was a resting smile on her face. She definitely knew a lot.
I was so happy that she was the one I chose to make friends with. If ever I needed Information I was sure she would come in handy.
I turned to the direction of his office and inhaled deeply. When I opened the first door I found that the second was left opened.
All you need to do is drop the file and leave I repeatedly told myself. This is about your job nothing else.
I inhaled deeply as I walked into the office with slow steps.
My heels made mild sounds as I felt as if the suit I wore became even tighter. I wanted to open the first two buttons of my white shirt but I didn't want Noah to think I was trying to seduce him.
I met Noah pouring a glass of scotch for himself. After filling the glass he gently place the bottle back on the shelve and turned to face me.
"So tell me Mira what is your deepest fear?" He asked as he took a sip from the glass and stared deep into my eyes.
His eyes scared me.
I shuffled on my feet confused as to how best to answer his question. I blinked twice and gulped in air. For some reason my legs were shaking, my hands too. All I wanted was to drop the file and leave but it seemed as If Noah had something else planned.
If his plan was to push me off balance and confuse me then he was doing a really good job because I was confused and shaky which was as a result of the many things I was feeling at the moment. I was angry, confused and filled with desire and it was not a good mixture of feelings.
I couldn't comprehend why he was staring at me the way he was, as if I was the most beautiful thing in the world_ neither could I understand why he was asking me such an intimate question , more so when I just saw a woman in his office, and not just a woman a naked woman who was probably also an employee. He was so confusing.
This is definitely what he does with his other female employees and I am not special so why did I feel otherwise.
"Sir I beg your pardon but I do not understand your question." I finally replied voicing out my confusion. I cleared my throat while trying my best to avoid his deafening gaze.
He smirked, then took another sip of his scotch. Then he turned around and faced the glass wall.
The city was in view, clear and beautiful although everything looked small from the top. It always does anyway. Those at the top always look at those below as though they were small. Noah must think so too.
"You know when I first saw you Mira, I thought to myself what a Brave girl she is, do I have a reason to start doubting my assumption?"
I shuffled on my feet and rolled my eyes. I'm glad he didn't say it was love at first fight.
"I don't know what made you have such assumption in the first place when I was just another job seeking graduate looking for a job." I replied my brows raised. "Or am I missing something."
My voice was not my own, it was sharp even to my own ears. I felt like I was drowning standing there listening to him, being under his gaze and scrutiny.
It was almost as if he was telling me something, giving me a clue as to who he was and what I was so desperately searching for. As if he was fucking my mind.
Soon it became as though the room was closing in on me. My boss was playing a game that I was sure of. What I wasn't sure of is if I were just a pawn in his game or another player possibly his opponent.
But one thing struck me about him and everything, he definitely knew me before as I know too that I have met him before. The question now became who was he in my past.
Scar or just someone insignificant.
We were soon enveloped with a different kind of Quiet. One that breeds, and expects. A quiet that is on the edge. We were both on the edge waiting for one of us to fall.
Noah turned around at that point and with a serious expression on his face he gestured to the sit just opposite his. "Take a sit."
I nodded and did as I was told.
"Here." I whispered dropping the document on the table. "I have fully revised the proposal. It is good to go."
I was eager to drop the file and leave as it seemed as though I would lose my mind if I remained in the office.
His presence was choking the life out of me and his eyes were killing me softly.
"I know that it is good. I trust in your abilities. So now tell me what is your biggest fear?" He asked again.
I shrugged not saying anything. But now I knew that he meant business and by him meaning business it simply means that he was not going to let me of the hook until I replied him. So now I thought about his question because I was willing to give a reply if replying him will set me free of his eyes.
Thinking of it, I am afraid of a lot of things. Being raped, killed, ending up unhappy, never knowing what really happened to Scar or who he was, but never have I really thought of what my biggest fear was.
