The Gang Leader's Obsession

Chapter 177

Ch. 177 / 185 Jun 03, 2025

DRUNK IN LOVE

That's what I called myself as I took another shot of whisky. I was getting more and more tipsy by the second.

I buffed, rolling my hands around my shot. Traitor tears fell down my eyes in reckless abandon. I started to laugh hysterically.

My life felt like it was in shambles, sweet, draining shambles. Scar is Noah. Scar never did die.

My mind traveled to the sex we had and the way I had clung to him right after. I had never felt so at peace as I did yesterday. Everything was peaceful, sublime, until the first ray of sunshine hit my eyes and I remembered that I was with a criminal, a killer, a liar and deceiver.

Without looking at him, without even thinking I went over to the office and resigned. Andrea kept staring at me like she knew what was in the envelope, but I had assured her that it was nothing even though I had the feeling that she knew what it was. I told her goodbye and pecked her cheeks.

After I was done in the office I went straight to the police station to file a restraining order in court.

I called home after I was done and my maid picked up.

She told me that Scar hadn't yet woken up and he was still asleep even when she started cleaning. He must have really been fatigued just like I was yesterday, the only difference between he and I being that I had unfinished business to carry out so I had to do them before he awoke. I hoped to go back home and sleep after I made sure that he was no where near me.

When I was done filing the report I returned home and hid in my car while I watched him leave the gate.

To say my heart was bleeding would be an understatement. I quickly ran up and took two sleeping pills hoping that like when I was little sleeping would drown the pain, but it did no such.

So here I was in a bar in the outskirts of town drinking when I should be asleep or watching a movie.

I hired a designated driver so I was not afraid of getting drunk which was exactly what I wanted to do, to drown my sorrow and disappointment in alcohol.

The bar wasn't filled with much people. Just some few sexy men playing pool, some girls gossiping and some couples hanging out here and there. The lighting in the bar was just right, the red light gave room for warmth and drunk peace.

I poured myself another shot of whisky and was about taking a sip when a familiar figure Waltzed in.

His blonde hair was neatly jelled back giving it a brown sheen. He was clad in a black suit which fit him perfectly. His blue eyes seemed to be searching for someone, I immediately looked away.

I had been staring hard at him.

I didn't want him to see me watching him and mistake it for interest for him. Yes, he was cute with his blue eyes and tan skin and oval face but I was only interested in one person, the person who had stolen my heart years ago.

I looked over at the bar man while he served a woman with a flirtatious smile on his face. His smile made me smile and I found myself wishing to be him.

I wished to be with someone I loved without having to feel the guilt of being with a murderer and a kidnapper, but wishes were not horses and my life was not that easy.

"I see you are having a bad day too." A voice said, from above me. I looked up to meet Mike's eyes. He was smiling down at me with intrigue. I blushed and looked down at my hands which was still gripping hard the bottle of whiskey.

"What can I say?" I finally replied with a shrug. "Life is a big bad bitch."

He chuckled, pulling out a stool. He sat down, his eyes not leaving my face. I quickly wiped the side of my face where my traitorous tears had fallen.

"I heard from a little birdie that you tendered in your resignation today and I have a proposal to make." He smiled.

My eyes widened. I hiccupped and chuckled a bit. "You came all the way here just to tell me that."

"You are more important than you give yourself credit for. I saw your resume and you are really qualified for the job I want to over you, maybe even overqualified. A brain like yours is really needed in my company and by my side."

"By your side huh." I giggled. I continued to look incredulously at him even as he stood up and walked close to me so that his firm abs rested on my arms. I swallowed stopping myself from looking up at him.

He bent down so that his lips were close to my ears. "Yes. By my side." He whispered. His breath on my ears caused me to shiver.
