Ch. 118 / 286 Apr 29, 2026

Sylvester sat back down and Anabel smiled to him. "Thank you very much for standing up for me, baby." Anabel said and Sylvester reached across the table and took her hand in his. "You don't need to tell me. My priority is to make sure you are haply. No one has the right to treat you that way. Not on my watch. I will always stand for you. Now let's eat." Sylvester said and they began to eat.

It was a romantic dinner. Sylvester fed her just like Desmond used to feed her before Daniella came into their. She was happy that she had finally found true love.

After they finished eating, Sylvester signaled for the check. When the waiter brought the bill, he casually reached for his wallet and pulled out a card as if he really wanted to pay.

The card was fake and it was all planned. His intention was to make it appear as if he was genuinely attempting to pay without disturbing Anabel.

He handed the card to the cashier while maintaining a calm and confident demeanor.

The cashier took the card and swiped it through the paying machine. Sylvester watched intently, waiting for the inevitable moment when the transaction would be declined.

And as he expected, the machine beeped and displayed an error message. The cashier shook her heady. "I'm sorry, sir, It seems there is an issue with your card." The cashier politely said.

"What do you mean? The card is okay. I used it this morning. It should be working. Please try it again." Sylvester said and the cashier tried the card again and it didn’t go.

"That's strange." He took the card back and started inspecting it as if he couldn't understand what was wrong. "Can you try it again, please? For the last time."

The cashier nodded and swiped the card once more, and it was all the same. Sylvester sighed heavily. He glanced at Anabel, who was watching him.

"I'm so sorry, Anabel. I don't know what is going on with my card. This has never happened before."

"You don't have to worry about it." She reached for her purse and said to Sylvester. "Let me take care of it."

"No, no." Sylvester protested, raising his hand to stop her. "I don't want you to pay. I will call my friend and he will help me settle the bill. You don't have to worry yourself. I got this." He pulled out his phone and pretended to dial a number, but deep down, he was hoping Anabel would insist on paying.

As he held the phone over his ear faking a call, Anabel's gentle voice interrupted him. "Sylvester, please. I insist. Let me handle this. This is nothing."

Sylvester hesitated for a moment, then slowly lowered his phone. "Are you sure about this? I feel so terrible about this. I'm the one who is supposed to be paying for this. I shouldn't worry you."

Anabel smiled warmly. "I understand. I don't have any problem with that. It's nothing."

Sylvester handed her the bill. Deep down, he was happy that his plan worked. The best part was that she fell easily.

Anabel handed her card to the cashier, who processed the payment without any issues. Once the transaction was complete, the cashier returned with the receipt, and Anabel signed it.
