Daniella got home and settled into her plan for Desmond. Desmond would be returning from work soon, and she wanted to make sure she was ready to deliver the gift in the most impactful way possible. She has neatly tucked the divorce paper into an envelope, waiting for him to return. Desmond was about to face the greatest shock of his life.
It was around 4pm. Daniella heard the familiar sound of Desmond's car pulling into the driveway. She took a deep breath and adjusted her clothes, trying to steady herself. This was it—the moment she had been waiting for. The moment she had been fantasizing
Desmond walked through the door, wearing a tired but warm smile on his face. "Hey, baby. I'm back." He called out.
Daniella greeted him with a smile of her own while hiding her true intentions. "Welcome back, Desmond. How was your day?"
"It was hectic, but everything's under control now." Desmond replied, loosening his tie as he headed to the bedroom to change out of his suit. Daniella followed him from behind.
As Desmond began to remove his suit jacket, she took the opportunity to speak.
"Desmond, I have a gift for you," she said, her voice sweet.
"A gift for me? That was quick." He said and turned to her.
"I'm so happy we finally got married. I can say I'm the happiest person in the world right now. Yesterday was the best day of my life. You know, I've been waiting for it to happen." Daniella paused and continued. "Now that we are legally married, I would like to give you this special gift." She handed the envelope to him.
"Wow, a paperwork? Did you got a contract for me? That's so quick. I can see I made the right choice." Desmond said while opening the envelope. He assumed it was some sort of contract or important document, given the seriousness in her tone.
"That's not a contract paper." Daniella stated, and Desmond looked up at her.
"Then what is it?" He asked.
"A divorce paper." She replied with a strong, straight face, but Desmond's face remained neutral.
"You are funny, baby." Desmond laughed. He thought she was just joking or trying to prank him. He was still expecting a contract letter.
"The last time I checked, I'm not a comedian. And I don't think I said something funny." Daniella stated. She was not in the mood to mess around with him.
"Babe, stop messing around." Desmond laughed. "I'm thinking maybe a multimillion-dollar contract."
"No, Desmond. I'm serious. I mean, one hundred percent serious. I want a divorce." Daniella repeated, and that was when Desmond realized that she was not joking. Her voice, her expression, and her eyes—he could see it. She wasn't playing.
Desmond quickly slid the papers out and saw that it was real. He was holding a divorce paper.
"What is the meaning of this? I..I don't understand." Desmond chuckled. "This has to be some kind of joke, right? I thought we would be living happily ever after."
"I never had the intention of living happily ever after with you. My plan was to be your wife and divorce you right after." Daniella said while looking at his face.
"What did you just say? I love you, and you said you loved me. What is happening now?" Desmond asked.
"How else will I make you marry me? I was just playing my part, and I was selling the role." Daniella pointed out. "Anyway, What can I say? I guess that makes me a great actress because I'm sure you didn't see this coming."
