The wedding date

Ch. 112 / 286 Apr 29, 2026

Daniella was in the middle of the living room, her heart pounding as she zipped up the last bag. She was packing her stuffs to threaten Desmond of leaving. Desmond had arrived from work and was on his way to the room. Daniella had arranged everything and was waiting for him.

For the past few daya, Anytime Daniella remind Desmond about the wedding, he would found some excuse, some reason to delay. Desmond walked into the room just as Daniella was about to drag the luggage out.

He was surprised. Daniella didn't tell him that she would be going anywhere. And looking at how she was prepared, he could tell that she was planning to spend a long time in wherever she was going. She literally packed all her belongings.

"I don't understand. What is happening? Where are you going with your bags?" He asked. His voice was laced with a mix of surprise and concern.

Daniella looked up at him in anger. "I'm leaving, Desmond. I'm tired of getting used. I'm done waiting for you to make up your mind about our wedding. All you do is give silly excuses, and I'm tired of it. I'm going and i'm never coming back. I deserve better than this." She tried to leave and Desmond blocked her way.

"Why are you blocking my way? Just let me go. It's obvious you don't want to spend the rest of your life with me. Just let me leave in peace." She tried to push him off but Desmond was too strong for her.

"Don't go please, let's talk about this. We can settle this."

"What is there to talk about or settle? You clearly don't want to marry me, so there's no point in staying. I have value for myself and I can take care of my baby."

Desmond took a deep breath. "It's not that I don't want to marry you. I've just been trying to make sure everything is perfect. But since it has gotten to the stage of leaving, then let's not wait any longer."

"What are you saying?" Daniella asked.

"I will fix date for the wedding. We can have a small wedding." Desmond said, stepping closer. "Nothing grand or elaborate, just something small but special. We can do it soon, as soon as you are ready."

"As soon of I'm ready? Are you serious?" Daniella asked.

"Yes, I'm serious," Desmond replied. "I don't want to lose you. We can do the wedding next week."

Daniella's heart raced in excitement. This was what she had wanted, but she had to be sure he meant it.

"I hope you are not saying this to stop me from leaving." She asked and Desmond shook his head. "No, I mean it. I'm ready to commit to you, Daniella."

"It's alright but before I believe, I want you to set a date. Which day?"

"I have to check my schedules first. But I want to assure you that it won't pass next week."

"What about your mom and sister?" She asked. She knew that they may be a hindrance to the wedding because of how she treated them.

"Don't worry about them. I'm the man of the house. I says what happens. They are not a threat to our marriage." Desmond replied and Daniella smiled.

"That's good. You are now becoming a real man."

As Daniella put down her bags, she felt a wave of happiness and satisfaction. She was about to get what she wanted. Little did Desmond know she had her own plans. Once they were married, she would initiate a divorce immediately and claim half of his property.

"Now let me go and take my bath." Desmond said and began to remove his clothes. Daniella got rid of her clothes and joined him.

After taking their bath, Desmond checked his schedules and picked up a date.

"The wedding will be next week Saturday." Desmond said and Daniella nearly screamed out of happiness. Only if Desmond knew the main reason of her happiness.

"Wow, finally we are going to get married." She got up from the bed and hugged him. "I love you so much." She said but In her mind, she was already counting down the day.

She can't wait to execute her plan. She had endured enough, but now she was finally close to her destiny.

"Daniella, baby, what's up?" Her boyfriend, Leonard, answered.

"Guess what, baby?" She asked in excitement.

"You know I'm not good at guessing. What is that?" He asked.

"Desmond had finally set the wedding date. We will be having our wedding next week Saturday!" Daniella answered. She couldn’t contain her happiness.

"No way! That's a good news, Daniella. I knew you will pull it off."

"I threatened to leave and he was forced to make quick decision. Everything is going exactly as planned. Once we are married, I wouldn't wait to surprise him."

"You are amazing," Leonard continued. "This is perfect. You just have to keep up the act for a little while longer."

Daniella laughed. "Don't worry baby, I am on it. Desmond is completely under my foot."

"Good," Leonard responded. "Just remember, we are in this together. Once you get your share, we will be set for life."

"Yeah. We are now potential millionaires." Daniella laughed.

"I can't wait, baby. I love you."

"I love you too." Daniella replied before hearing footsteps approaching the door.

"I will call you later, He's Coming." She said and ended the call immediately. Desmond walked past the door and headed towards the guest room.

Daniella looked round the room with a satisfied smiled and dropped her phone on the bed. The countdown to the wedding had begun, a countdown to a future where she and Leonard would be very rich. All she needed to do was to make sure Desmond doesn't change his mind, and her dreams would finally come true.
