I didn’t need to listen to the rest of the story to understand what happened. But what I do not understand is why she had to leave for such a trivial mistake. However, if she has a father like Viscount Maximus then, it's possible.
Also, why didn’t her self-righteous brother try to save her?
As if she could read my mind she sighed as she explained further. “I couldn’t face my family after bringing so much shame to them, so I left.” She stood up and cracked her knuckles. “I thought that wandering around would bring me close to my mate, but I guess I was wrong. The goddess didn’t bestow me a mate.”
Oh, so that was it.
She left because she was ashamed and she was out here because she was hoping to find her destined mate.
Well, I’m sure she will find her mate soon. It just cannot be me.
“Good night, Derek,” She was at the door before I knew it. “Sleep well, tomorrow will be a long day.”
Indeed, tomorrow will be a long day.
I lay on the bed tucked my hands under my head and sighed. I can’t wait for tomorrow.
“Good morning, Majesty.”
I was awoken by Malcolm’s voice by my bed. I jumped at his words. I can’t believe that I slept off.
“Good morning, Mal. Is it time?”
I got out of bed and immediately put my shoes on.
“Yes, Majesty, we are ready to leave.”
Without further delay, I stood up and went straight to the bathroom, washed my face and wiped it.
“Let's go.”
I was out of the room before Malcolm. I couldn’t wait to embark on the journey in search of happiness.
Soon we were out on the sea, leaving the Red Moon Pack behind. Butterflies danced In my belly at the thought of seeing Melody again. I will make things right this time for sure.
“Hi,” I jolted as I felt that familiar current jolt through me.
“Hi,” I replied and slowly stepped away from her.
“I want to apologize for whatever happened yesterday,” she smiled.
Her eyes brightened as she smiled. She is beautiful no doubt. Only a fool won’t accept such a girl as his mate. However, Melody is the woman after my heart.
“It’s okay,” I shrugged.
I wish I could tell her that she wasn’t mistaken and that I felt the same thing she felt. I wish I could tell her she didn’t confuse me for someone else as I might be the man she’s been waiting for.
However, I couldn’t accept it.
How do I accept Estrella as my mate?
I have set out to win Melody back and I won’t stop until she forgives me and accepts me back into her life.
“Thank you,” she smiled.
I didn’t know what to say in response to her words of appreciation. I mean, do I deserve her gratitude?
“So, what will you do back home?” I asked, to change the topic.
“Now that I know that I am not destined to have a mate, I’ll just go on living my life.”
Every time she speaks about not having a mate I feel a guilty tug in my belly, but I just couldn’t admit to the possibility of being mated to her.
“That sounds like a good idea,” I nod in agreement.
I had nothing else to say to her.
“Tell me about your mate,” she asked before I could get away again.
I wonder why she is trying so hard to engage me in a conversation.
Even though I didn’t like the fact she was being too inquisitive, and the fact that she was speaking so casually with me was starting to piss me off, I still couldn’t bring myself to refuse her blatantly.
There was something about this woman that made me want to give in to all of her demands.
“Her name is Melody,” I began.
My heart warmed up as I said her name. It’s the first time I’d be talking about Melody to someone else.
I decided to let it all out. Everything I did to Melody from the beginning and how it all turned out. How much I regret everything I did how much in love I am with her and how I so badly want to be with her and no one else.
I don’t know how long I’ve been on for, but I do know that I told it all to her.
Estrella stared at me like she had seen a ghost as I spoke. She probably couldn’t believe that a sweet man like myself could have done all that. If only she knew that whatever I have become now is all thanks to Melody. I had to become a better man just for her.
“Since you regret your actions, why do you have to go to Dark Flame instead of being with her and showing her how much you want her forgiveness?”
Because your stupid brother took her away!
I almost couldn’t stop myself from swearing at her idiotic brother, but I managed to save my rage for Dorian.
“I can only ask her for forgiveness if I go to Dark Flame,” I paused and watched her confused face before completing my words. “Because Melody is there.”
Her face paled. “Melody is in Dark Flame? Why? What happened?”
Well, because an idiot took her away and that idiot is none other than your brother, Dorian.
I wish I could say that to her face but I chose to stay calm and behave until I found my family.
“Well, that’s because she…..”
Before I could complete the explanation, the ship was brought to a halt. I was about to ask why the sailor stopped when Estrella pointed forward, her face showed an excited smile as she said, “We’re here.”
“Huh?”
I wondered what she meant but before I could ask, the sailor announced,
“Passenger Alert: This is Dark Flame Pack.”
