Third person's POV.
Amaya was laid on a flatbed unconsciously as a bald man was busy working on her back that was pierced through by a sharp arrow.
The bald man was a metal man who dealt with killing metallic poison or wolf bane. In other words, he was a doctor who specialized only in removing sharp objects from inside a wolf or a human.
The first image Amaya saw when she regained her consciousness was the bald man in a white coat, kneeling beside her. She heard soft footsteps and distant voices as she tore her eyes open.
When Amaya tore her eyes open dizzily, she was in a strange room she had never seen before. She looked around, and her eyes settled on a wooden ceiling. The room was dimly lit with candles, and the air was thick with the smell of herbs, and hot tea.
Amaya was trying to move her body, but she realized that she was in tremendous pain, and every movement sent a shock wave of agony through her body. She looked down at her belly and saw that her wound was bandaged, but it was still bleeding.
An elderly woman entered the room, carrying a tray with a bowl of what looked like soup and a small glass bottle. The woman's name was Magret, and she was a doctor who was specified in treating humans.
"How is she feeling now?" Magret asked the bald-headed man who was standing closer to her.
"She is fine. She is now awake and the Poison in the arrow has been cured!" The bald man responded.
"Welcome back, Amaya," Magret placed her cold hands on Amaya's head, her kind voice sending a wave of calm over her.
But just as Amaya shook her head in response to her greetings, Magret said:
"You have been in bed for a week now. You are lucky to be alive. The arrow missed your heart by inches."
Amaya gasped as she learned that she escaped death by just inches. Tears welled up inside Amaya and she started to shed tears as she remembered what happened.
Amaya could not believe what she had heard. She knew how lucky she was to be alive. She could just remember that she was in an elaborate party of Jason and Jeremy's Coronation when this arrow pierced through her back.
"Who shot me?" Amaya asked the woman in surprise.
Magret smiled, her hands still on her head when she said:
"We do not know their identity, dear. But we have sent the pack members to search for them. We will find whoever did this to you."
"What about Alpha Jason and Alpha Jeremy?" Amaya asked.
"The two Alphas have been under severe punishment since that day and none of them is allowed to come inside this place," Magret responded to her.
Beta Maxwell of the Howler moon pack walked into the room with his hands clasped behind. Amaya raised her chin on the bed as she saw him walking up to her.
"Well done, Magret," Maxwell greeted and exchanged greetings with the balded man who was standing by the bed.
"Thanks, Beta Maxwell. She is getting better now." Magret told him and paused before she continued:
"Have you guys later found the launcher of the arrow?"
"Not yet, we are still on it!" Maxwell responded casually and looked away.
Maxwell told Margret to excuse them and she did alongside the bald man who was standing by her bed. Then he sat down close to her and leaned in so closely that no one could hear them.
"The black rogues are after your life, Amaya!' Maxwell whispered softly to her.
Her stomach churned up and for a moment her throat went dry in fear. She struggled to stand up once again but her strength failed her.
"What have I done to them?" Amaya asked with a shaking voice.
"How am I supposed to know, Amaya? Your life is at stake in our pack." Maxwell said.
"What am I supposed to do?" she asked Maxwell.
"I heard Alpha Brian has suspended you from our pack. Isn't it?" Maxwell asked.
"Yes, it's" Amaya responded.
"Then I suggest you leave our pack to the woods!' Maxwell advised.
" To the wood?" Amaya asked in pain.
Woods should be meant for werewolves and not humans, isn't it? Amaya does not have a wolf not to talk of scent that would make her survive in the woods. There are a lot of wild animals in the woods that can be killed only by wolves. Amaya was technically a human, so she would not be able to cope there. But then, the woods are the best way she could hide in the sense that rogues don't attack the woods.
"That's the only place you can hide your head, Amaya. Alpha Jason has been caged so nobody can help you." Maxwell made known to her.
"Caged?" She asked, her eyes growing wider.
"Yes, caged. Don't you know since that day, Aurora has withdrawn as the pack doctor?"
"What? Has it gotten up to that stage? I told Jason he would not listen. I told him to go for his mate."
"You should have made it clear to him. Right now I don't know what the proprietor would say."
"There is nothing the proprietor would say other than to add an extra three months to her suspension." Kayla walked into the room.
"Kayla, what are you doing here?" Maxwell asked.
