Kingsley's POV
I didn't know how many days I had slept, but when I finally opened my eyes, I realized I was in a room.
My memory suddenly returned to the moment before I passed out.
At that time, I was fighting with a few rogues but suddenly I ran into an avalanche.
In the moment before I was buried by the avalanche, I seemed to hear Freya's cries.
Immediately afterward, I transformed into my wolf form and ran quickly, dodging the avalanche raging behind me.
Finally, when I was exhausted, I seized the opportunity to hide behind a huge tree.
The massive trunk of that tree blocked part of the rolling waves of snow for me.
When the avalanche ended, I was finally able to let go, but I was badly injured.
I held on for a few days, and just when I thought I wasn't going to make it, I saw...
Freya! Right! I saw Freya!
I snapped my eyes open.
A cold wind was blowing outside the house, and the door to the room suddenly opened. First, a pair of shoes, then a plain dress, and finally, a woman's face.
As I looked at the person who entered, my mind drifted for a moment.
The slender figure of the woman in front of me and the person imprinted on my heart overlapped.
An unspeakable emotion melted in my limbs, and an electric current surged through my body.
I looked at her face excitedly but froze.
There was something about her face that was different from Freya's.
Wait.
I sniffed hard at her scent, and I was sure that she was Freya!
Why was she disguising her appearance? And where were we now?
My mind was filled with questions.
"You're finally awake, Kim..." Freya said excitedly as she saw me awake.
She walked in and sat down on the edge of the bed, reaching out and gently touching my head.
But who was Kim? Me?
I reached out to take her hand, but in the next second, my eyes widened in disbelief as I stared at my... Hmmm... Claws.
Claws?
Could someone please tell me why my hands were now a pair of wolf claws?
I yelled in excitement, attempting to ask Freya what the hell was going on here, but instead, I let out a wolf howl.
I froze.
Could it be...
Freya chuckled before rubbing my head again. "Good boy, I know this is hard to believe, but you're a wolf now," she finished, winking mischievously at me.
I froze instantly.
What did she mean by saying I was a wolf now?
I stood up, jumped out of bed, and rushed to the mirror.
When I double-checked that my reflection in the mirror did indeed resemble a normal black wolf, I hung my head in frustration.
Depressed, I jumped back onto the bed and flopped down, then closed my eyes, refusing to accept reality and hoping that it was just a dream.
Freya laughed again, not caring about my feelings at all.
"Kim, you're so cute!"
Cute? I was a man! No man could stand being called cute!
I twisted my head even more angrily, but Freya laughed again.
Immediately after that, she reached out and hugged me tightly in her arms, then kissed me hard a few times.
Feeling Freya's body heat and smelling Freya's scent always puts me at ease, I admit that I was overwhelmed by Freya's passion because, for a moment, I felt that there was nothing wrong with being a normal wolf.
I was about to open my mouth and ask her what all this was about when the door to the room opened once again.
"Marian, my sister Amy made some cookies and told me to bring them over to you."
Marian?
I looked at Eric, who walked in and was a little confused for a moment.
How did the two of them get together, and why did Eric call her Marian?
"Eric, Kim is awake. Does that mean he's getting better?" Freya asked as she put me back on the bed and got up, walking over to Eric.
Eric heard what she said and hurried over.
Before I could react, Eric had already started a series of physical examinations on me.
As the examination progressed, Eric's frown deepened.
"Strange," Eric said, furrowing his brow as he removed his stethoscope. "Kingsley seems to have recovered from all his injuries."
"If he's recovered from all his injuries, then why does he still look like a wolf?" Freya asked immediately.
Hearing their words, I realized that my previous severe injuries probably caused me to be a wolf.
"I'm not too sure about that, but after examining it, I realized that although Kingsley's body has recovered, his power seems to be dormant," Eric explained, spreading his hands helplessly. "As for when his power will be restored, that's anyone's guess."
Hearing what Eric said, my mind went blank.
Did this mean that I might always be a normal wolf?
Freya sat on the edge of the bed, looking at me in silence, the sadness in her eyes almost breaking my heart.
I arched the back of her hand with my nose before resting my head on her thigh in an attempt to comfort her.
Sensing my intentions, Freya gently stroked my fur with her hand while saying to Eric and seemingly to me, "I'm sure it's going to be okay, and Kingsley will be back."
I buried my furry head into Freya's arms, only to suddenly smell a wonderful scent that seemed to be coming from the small of Freya's belly.
In the next second, I realized something and jerked my head up to meet Freya's gentle gaze.
"So, you must recover quickly, okay? We're all waiting for you."
Shock filled my heart as I looked at her incredulously.
Immediately afterward, I felt a surge of excitement like never before.
I jumped out of Freya's arms, wanting to excitedly announce the good news to the world, but I opened my mouth, and all that came out was a guttural wolf howl.
I instantly lowered my head in embarrassment and frustration.
Eric, who was off to the side, let out an unabashed burst of laughter, and I glared at him angrily.
Eric rubbed his nose before turning to Freya, "Also, there's something else I need to tell you. Mavis is coming back, probably tomorrow."
