Freya's POV
"Ms. Freya, what a coincidence," Eric remarked as he set down his glass, fixing me with a deep gaze, the corners of his mouth curled into a faint smile.
I returned his look with interest and nodded, "Yes, what a coincidence." I then turned my gaze to Mavis and remarked meaningfully, "I didn't realize you two knew each other."
Mavis paused for a moment, raising an eyebrow before explaining, "Eric is the doctor of our pack; of course, we know each other."
"Oh, is that so?" I replied casually.
Eric was, in fact, the doctor of the Snowwolf Pack. He was the one who had identified my infertility that day, and shortly afterward, news of it spread throughout the pack, reaching even the king. Subsequently, Mavis and her father showed up. It all seemed so logical, yet somewhat peculiar.
I furrowed my brow, sensing that something was amiss—as if there were invisible hands orchestrating everything, and we were mere puppets in their play.
Suddenly, Eric stood up and said, "Sorry, I still have some things I need to take care of, so I'll leave first," before turning and departing.
I observed his departure in silence.
"Ms. Freya," Mavis said, taking a sip of her wine, her gaze fixed on me. She spoke in an inexplicable tone, "I sometimes envy you. You seem to be in control of your own destiny, mated with someone you love. No one can force you to do anything."
Hearing her words, I responded indifferently, "You will also meet the person you are destined to be with. It's nothing to envy."
"Is it?" Mavis murmured softly, her eyes glancing in Eric's direction as he left. Her tone turned despondent. "But apparently, I don't have a choice."
I suddenly realized something and looked at her calmly, seizing the moment to say, "That's not always true. It's just a matter of what you really want. Sometimes, all you need is a chance."
Having said that, I subtly handed over one of my business cards.
Mavis looked up at me, a mixture of struggle and disbelief in her eyes.
I observed her silently, anticipating her response.
Suddenly, a commotion emanated from the bar's entrance. A group of bouncers stormed in, blocking all the exits.
Subsequently, a man in a suit, surrounded by people, entered. It was Kingsley.
Spotting him, Mavis pursed her lips and declared, "I'm going to the restroom."
She set down her wine glass, swiftly took my business card, and departed. I watched her retreating figure with a smile.
Kingsley evidently noticed me at this point. He frowned and briskly approached, saying, "Freya."
"Kingsley, what brings you here?" I inquired suspiciously.
Kingsley responded with a serious expression, "I received word that there was a sighting of Robert around here."
He maintained a serious demeanor until we were driving home. Sensing his frustration due to the delay in tracking down Robert, I reached out and took his hand in a comforting grip.
"Freya," Kingsley visibly stiffened the moment my hand touched his. Eventually, his tense body relaxed, and he closed his eyes, sighing. It was the first time I had seen frustration on his face.
Kingsley opened his eyes and looked at me, saying, "Freya, I'm actually scared."
His tone was sincere and grave.
"So many things have happened lately, and I really hate being this person who can't do anything about it. Robert is a crazy person, and since the moment I realized he might not be dead, my heart has been in constant torment of fear. Freya, I'm afraid he's going to hurt you again. I can't imagine how I would survive if something happened to you. The fear and powerlessness I felt that day at the fire, thinking I might lose you forever, I don't want to go through that a second time. But I..."
Kingsley pounded the steering wheel as hard as he could, then hung his head in a low growl of chagrin, saying, "And I couldn't catch him!"
My heart felt a pang of sadness as I watched Kingsley in pain.
I reached out and touched his back, saying, "Kingsley, you need to relax. Don't push yourself too hard. Someone ruled by fear is destined to lose. You must overcome your fears. Remember, Robert was once your rival, and even if he's still around, he's just making a comeback—no threat to us. If we could beat him once, we can beat him a million times."
My hand gently rubbed Kingsley's back until his wolf whimpered in relaxation at my touch.
Kingsley looked up at me with deep emotion in his eyes, took my hand, and gently sniffed my fingertips. "Freya, thank you."
The tingling sensation from my fingertips instantly spread throughout my body, and my face burned slightly under his deep, loving gaze. Kingsley then began to nibble gently on my fingers, his soft tongue touching the tips.
As much as I didn't want to admit it, I could clearly feel myself becoming aroused. In an instant, a wave of hormones filled the car. Kingsley's eyes turned amber as he caught my scent, and his wolf let out a hard, low growl. In a flash, he was at my side, kissing me on the lips. I gasped.
Our hands moved frantically as his lips brushed mine. I couldn't control the moan that escaped my lips as I quickly exposed myself to him. The soft, gentle strokes of his hands on my naked body quickly ignited my passionate desire. Kingsley let his lips travel down to wrap around the upturned bud on my chest, and as his tongue swirled around it, pleasure shot straight to my core.
Slowly, inch by inch, he slid himself deeper into me. His thrusts weren't quick and hungry like they had been in the past. Instead, they were slow and passionate, as if he didn't want the moment to end either.
Gradually, my hips met each of his thrusts, and a low growl of pleasure escaped his lips as I moved slightly to deepen his touch on me.
The pleasure built up at a breakneck pace as I felt myself ready to explode around him.
"Kingsley-" I moaned as I closed my eyes and arched my back." I can't hold out much longer."
A satisfied growl left him." Then don't ...... untie me."
At his request, I didn't hold back. The orgasm that ravaged me caused him to unleash his own and spill his seed inside me as his knot held us in place.
We lay panting, a smile on both of our lips as he leaned in to kiss me again.
"It's been so long since I've had you."
His whispered confession made me melt into him.
"I've been waiting for you," I whisper, a blush spreading across my face.
A chuckle escapes his lips when he hears my reply, and then he leans down and kisses my forehead deeply.
