Love Me, Or Reject Me

Chapter 96 Robert's Real Plan

Ch. 96 / 120 Dec 11, 2024

Freya's POV

I brought Jeremy back to the pack before heading to Kingsley's office.

Kingsley's scent lingered in the room, and as I surveyed the papers stacked on my desk, I envisioned Kingsley frowning as he handled pack affairs before me.

"Luna Freya, when did you get back? I heard they mentioned you were pregnant. Is that true?" Jeremy's voice snapped me back to reality.

I approached the desk and took a seat. Looking up at Jeremy, I noticed he seemed thinner. It seemed that he had endured hardships at the hands of Robert.

"Yeah, and I just returned in the last couple of days," I replied calmly.

Excitement flashed in Jeremy's eyes. "Alpha Kingsley would be happy to know that," he said joyfully, but the smile quickly faded.

"Luna Freya, is Alpha Kingsley really alive? Why can't I feel the connection between me and Alpha?" Jeremy asked with concern.

A special psychic link exists between every Beta and their Alpha, but due to Kingsley's current condition, Jeremy naturally couldn't sense his presence.

I nodded, "Yes, but all I can say is that he's alive. The rest, for now, is confidential."

Jeremy nodded in understanding and refrained from further questions.

Suddenly, as if recalling something important, he looked up at me, "Luna Freya, during your absence, I've noticed something. Grace, Robert, and the others seem to be plotting something, and it appears to involve Alpha Alex."

I pondered his words deeply.

Alex Blackwill was Grace's brother and the Alpha of the Black Wolf Pack, with Robert being his son.

Grace and Kingsley's father were joined in marriage, bonding the two packs.Alex had always appeared to harbor greater ambitions, especially as the demand for Kingsley to ascend as the next Lycan King intensified.

"Tell me everything you know." After a moment of contemplation, I spoke calmly.

Jeremy nodded, then continued, "Ever since Robert abruptly emerged with the news of Alpha Kingsley's death and assumed control of the pack, a vague unease settled in my heart. I began to monitor the pack, and one day, passing by the doorway to Robert's room, I overheard a conversation between him and Alpha Alex. Eavesdropping was a breach of etiquette, but an inexplicable impulse urged me on. That's when I learned of Alpha Alex and Robert's plan: merging the Shadowmoon Pack with the Black Wolf Pack. Making Robert the Alpha of the Shadowmoon Pack was just the first step in their scheme."

Jeremy's words took me a while to settle in, leaving my heart uneasy.

I had always believed that Robert's actions were driven by revenge against Kingsley and me, intending for us to suffer as he did in that fire. What I didn't realize was the depth of the conspiracy behind it.

In my silence, Jeremy hesitated before asking, "I just don't understand why they're doing this."

Raising my head, I looked at Jeremy and said, "Merging two packs doesn't offer much benefit, but what if their goal is to secure the position of the next Lycan King?"

The current King lacked an heir, meaning he had to choose from several qualified Alphas, giving them a fair chance to compete.

Among them, Kingsley had always been the most favored, but there were those who sought to change that.

If the Shadowmoon Pack and the Black Wolf Pack merged, Robert would have the combined support of both packs, and as per their plan, Alpha Craig's Snowwolf Pack would also back Robert, positioning him as a contender for the next Lycan King.

However, they failed to realize that the current Alpha of the Snowwolf Pack was Mavis, Kingsley was alive, and I was pregnant.

Jeremy quickly grasped my meaning, wearing a solemn expression. "In that case, their plans have been disrupted for now. I'm sure they'll make another move soon, with their first target being..."

Jeremy glanced at my belly.

Clearly, we understood that since Robert becoming the Alpha of the Shadowmoon Pack was the first step in their plan, the existence of me and my child were sure to be a stumbling block for them. They would do everything possible to eliminate me and my child.

Even though the King had warned them at the dinner, accidents were never in short supply in this world, were they?

I placed my hand on my belly and remarked, "Let's wait and see what they will do."

The next day, Jeremy drove me to the office. As soon as I entered the Wright Group, all eyes were on me.

It was the day of the regular shareholders' meeting.

Upon entering the conference room, several people were already seated at the long desks. Robert, in the main seat, stared at me with cold eyes. Grace sat next to him, and an empty seat on the other side awaited someone unknown.

Before I could speak, Grace spoke up, her tone unkind. "What are you doing here?"

I smiled confidently and replied, "As the Luna of the pack and the one currently in charge, it's my responsibility to run the Wright Group for Alpha Kingsley until his return."

Robert stood up, a hypocritical and disgusting smile on his face. "Luna Freya, you're right. However, I believe the most crucial thing for you at the moment is to tend to your child until you give birth to Kingsley's heir. I think the King would want that as well."

Robert's words served as a reminder of the value the King placed on the child in my belly.

Without waiting for my response, Grace sneered beside me. "Hmph, who knows if what's in her belly is Kingsley's child or not. After all, she was away from the pack for so long; maybe she ran off before because of another man."

Grace aimed to highlight that I was a Luna who had "abandoned" the pack before. She also attempted to sow doubt about the lineage of the child in my belly.
