Freya's POV
Opening the door of the closet, I gazed in shock at the scene before me.
Simultaneously, Jeremy's voice echoed from behind, "Luna Freya, is it Alpha Kingsley who's back? I just heard his voice through the mind link, and he told me to come over. Huh? What's this? Where did the wolf come from?"
Confusion filled Jeremy's big eyes as he spotted the ordinary wolf inside the closet.
Kingsley, still crouching in the closet, met my gaze with his innocent wolf eyes. Glancing back at Jeremy, I struggled to find words to explain the situation.
Lowering my head, I raised my hand to rub my forehead.
What the hell was going on here? Could someone please tell me why Kingsley turned back into a regular wolf again?
"So, you mean that this wolf is actually Alpha Kingsley?"
I sat on the couch as Jeremy, incredulous, stared at the wolf on the ground after hearing my explanation.
It seemed he was having a hard time accepting that his mighty and strong Alpha was currently a normal wolf.
"That's true, but I don't know why he's like this again," I said bitterly.
"That's easy to see. Apparently, he hasn't fully recovered!" a voice came from the window.
I turned my head just in time to see Eric jumping through the window.
"Eric! What the hell is going on here?" I stood up.
Eric walked over, glanced at Kingsley sprawled on the floor, and said helplessly, "Under my teacher's treatment, Kingsley's condition has improved, but he's still unstable. As you can see, he sometimes transforms back into a normal wolf uncontrollably and without warning. My teacher recommended that he continue his treatment for a while, but Kingsley was so worried about your safety and the baby's that he couldn't wait to get back."
Complicated emotions surged within me as I absorbed Eric's explanation.
"Kingsley," I called out softly.
Then, I witnessed Kingsley happily approaching, his tail wagging. It was endearing, but...
The next instant, I scowled at Kingsley. "Do you understand what's wrong? In your current state, you can't even protect yourself. How can you ensure the safety of both me and the child?"
Upon hearing my reprimand, Kingsley sadly lowered his head, and his furry ears drooped. His distressed look softened my heart. I sighed and gently stroked his head.
The following day, when I arrived at the company with Kingsley, we instantly became the center of attention.
The sight of a person accompanied by a wolf was truly uncommon.
I hadn't intended to bring Kingsley to the office, but he insisted, even biting onto my pants leg and refusing to let go.
"Wait here; I'll be back after using the bathroom," I instructed Kingsley, leaving him by the door.
As I washed my hands in the restroom, I sensed a sudden, ominous aura.
Swiftly turning around, I spotted two men in black rushing toward me. In the next moment, a pungent smell overwhelmed me, and I blacked out.
I couldn't determine how much time had passed, but a throbbing headache and the disorienting sensation of being upside down greeted me as I slowly opened my eyes. It took a few moments to grasp my surroundings—I was confined in a cramped space, swaying and lurching.
I was inside a van.
Collecting myself, I attempted to twist my wrists. Surprisingly, the men hadn't tied me up, allowing me some freedom of movement.
Although a strong wave of dizziness hit me when I tried to stand, I realized that escape by force wasn't an option in my current condition. I had no choice but to remain silent and wait for an opportune moment.
The van abruptly came to a halt, then resumed its journey, repeating this pattern several times. After about half an hour, the van finally came to a stop. The back door was forcefully kicked open, flooding me with blinding white light.
Squinting, I saw two black-clad bodyguards enter abruptly, one on each side. They roughly grabbed me and leaped off the van...
"Why are you abducting me?" I pretended to inquire in a panic.
However, the guards remained silent, securing my hands before pulling me into a row of short bungalows. As I shifted slightly, the guards coldly warned, "Move again, and we'll chop off your fingers."
The grim and cold tone left no doubt that they meant business; any resistance would not be tolerated.
Once they had tied me up, the black-clothed guards exited the bungalow. The space was tiny, lacking windows and featuring only a single small door. I began contemplating an escape plan when the room's door suddenly swung open, revealing a middle-aged man with sinister eyes.
"Alpha Alex?" I immediately recognized the man.
He was followed closely by Robert. Alex glared at me coldly and uttered, "Bitch, I warned you that you would end up in my hands sooner or later. Do you believe me now?"
I met his gaze calmly and replied, "You've kidnapped me here. Do you understand the consequences?"
"Consequences? Do you think I care about consequences?" Alex grinned maniacally. "As long as you die here, no one can prove I did it!"
I pursed my lips, sensing that Alex was recklessly intent on killing me.
"Father, we still need her to draw Kingsley out," Robert interjected.
Alex cast a cruel sneer my way. "Tell me where Kingsley is, and I might consider sparing your life."
I grimaced, looking away and maintaining my silence.
Annoyed by my lack of response, Alex approached with a short knife, running it across my face. "What if I slash your face right now? Will he show up, or..." Alex's grim voice resembled a viper as the knife descended, finally resting on my stomach, "Should I kill his baby first?"
