Love Me, Or Reject Me

Chapter 98 Kingsley Is Back

Ch. 98 / 120 Dec 11, 2024

Kingsley's POV

It was late at night, and the moon hung high in the sky. I found myself sprinting hard under the moonlight, while Eric, trailing behind, grumbled discontentedly.

"Kingsley, although your condition has improved with treatment, my teacher says you haven't fully recovered yet. I don't think you should rush back at this point. Your pack is under Robert's scrutiny, and if they discover your condition today, all the hard work you and Freya have done will be undone!"

I abruptly halted, and after Eric caught up, I turned to face him. "I have to get back! My Luna and my baby are in danger. I can't hide in the dark like a coward."

"But right now, you still can't..." Eric countered.

I shot him a cold glance, silencing him. Then, I pivoted and continued running forward.

Soon, I returned to the place Freya and I were staying. In the shadows of the thick tree canopy, I observed bodyguards securing the villa perimeter. It was clearly that Robert's men were among them.

Despite my return, the power of Robert and Alex remained formidable. Combined with my incomplete recovery, I needed to adjust my actions and refine my plans. But first, I had to ensure I stayed by Freya's side; I couldn't bear leaving her alone in danger.

I lingered in the shadows outside the villa's garden. My eyes instinctively sought her, eager to see her again.

"Good night!" Her sweet voice suddenly echoed, and I yearned to be the one talking to her at that moment.

My eyes followed her. She wore a white dress, her hair cascading over her shoulders. Even from a distance, her natural beauty left me stunned.

From the depths of the forest, I approached slowly. Each step closer to her brought incredible joy to me and my wolf.

I observed her as she stepped back into her room, then opened the window and stood by it.

"You keep me from resting, little one," she murmured softly, her slender fingers tracing circles on her stomach. "Perhaps a song would soothe you?"

I held my breath as she spoke to our unborn child in such a soft, motherly tone. It mesmerized me, and I found myself drawn into this angelic moment.

"What's the situation? Where are all the guards watching her?" I whispered to Eric at my side.

"One is standing at the north front door, and the other two are circling the far side of the perimeter every forty minutes. They should rotate again in fifteen minutes."

Standing stiffly, I glanced at my wristwatch. Fifteen minutes. I had fifteen minutes to wait before I could make my move.

I told myself that I shouldn't approach her. I should wait and make sure my presence doesn't scare her. But seeing her now... I can't control myself. The urge to take her in my arms and never let her go overwhelmed all my logical thoughts.

Finally, as the figures of the guards circled toward the back of the villa, I quickly and gently jumped onto the balcony outside Freya's room.

"Freya..." I called out softly the moment she turned away from the window.

Freya turned to face me, her eyes widened in shock, but soon her face filled with elation. She walked quickly towards me, "Kingsley!" her joy overflowed.

I reached out to hug her, burying my head in the crook of her neck; the familiar and pleasant smell of her made me let out a relieved sigh. "I missed you so much, Freya," I whispered. "We have so much to talk about."

As my children grew inside her, their scents mingled over time, and that heady aroma was something my wolf and I never wanted to let go of.

Freya took a few deep breaths, and then I heard her say, "I missed you too, but why are you here? Have you gotten your powers back?"

Hearing Freya's words, I let go of her, then looked her in the eyes and said, somewhat awkwardly, "It's sort of been restored."

"What do you mean?" Freya asked, her gaze filled with doubt as well as worry.

Scratching my head, momentarily unsure of how to explain my current situation to Freya, I stammered, "As you can see, Freya, my injuries have all healed, and I've regained my powers. I just have a few minor conditions..."

Before I could finish, I heard footsteps approaching Freya's house. Freya obviously heard them too.

The footsteps drew closer, and I could distinctly hear Robert's voice as he spoke, with what appeared to be a group of bodyguards behind him. Freya frowned, clearly pondering why Robert would suddenly appear here at night.

We exchanged glances and silently decided not to let anyone else notice my presence for now.

"Hide inside the closet first!" Freya urged.

"Are you still awake, Luna Freya?" Robert's voice rang through the door.

"Yup. What happened to make you come over in the middle of the night?" I heard Freya say coldly, her tone unpleasant.

"My men reported that there seems to be a break-in. As you know, His Majesty the King has asked us to ensure your safety and the child's, which is why I rushed over here so that you wouldn't be harmed. Luna Freya, for your own safety, I may need to search your room. After all, in this villa, your room is the only one left unchecked. I suspect that the miscreant could be hiding somewhere in your room."

"I'm fine! I'm the only one in my room! You may go back!" Freya's cold voice sounded again.

"But..." However, Robert didn't seem to want to leave just like that. "Please forgive me, Luna Freya, His Majesty the King has requested that I must guarantee your safety and that of your child, so I am forced to do so."

Then, there was a violent banging at the door. Robert was actually trying to break into Freya's room.

"What are you doing, Robert!" came Jeremy's voice. "If you don't want a war between the two packs, please stop offending the Luna of the Shadowmoon pack!"

I got Jeremy to come through the mind link and stopped Robert just in time. But that wasn't enough.

Immediately after that, I once again used the mind link to tell Eric, who was still crouching outside the villa, to make some noise to divert Robert and his people away.

Soon, someone outside the villa shouted, "There he is! Get after him!"

Then the next second, I heard Robert's voice outside the house, "I'm sorry, Luna Freya. Please forgive me for my offense tonight!"

Then he shouted, "Go get him!"

I then heard the footsteps of Robert and his men hurrying away.

Immediately afterward, the closet door was opened.
