Love Me, Or Reject Me

Chapter 111 New Alpha

Ch. 111 / 120 Dec 11, 2024

Grace's POV

"How's it going?" I opened my eyes as Boone asked with a concerned expression.

"It doesn't seem quite right; I need to be better prepared." As I said that, I gently used my hand to wipe the blood from the fingers of the little baby in my arms.

Utilizing the blood bond between this infant and his mother, I took a bit of his blood in an attempt to use sorcery to control Freya's mind and make her do things for me.

No one knew that I had been raised by a witch for a time when I was little.

However, I didn't realize that Freya was very strong-willed, which added to the challenge of my plan. Nevertheless, it was apparent to me that this attempt had been a significant improvement over the first.

"I've inquired around for you, and it seems Kingsley and Freya haven't discovered this yet. I've taken care of everyone else connected to this. As of now, we, along with this baby, are still safe."

I followed Boone into a nondescript black sedan; after all, at a time like this, concealing one's whereabouts was crucial.

"That's good. It looks like our plan can proceed smoothly." I looked at the little one sleeping soundly in my arms and spoke meaningfully.

When I took the blood, the infant seemed to have cried for a while due to the pain, leaving vague tearstains in the corners of his eyes.

Thinking about this little guy's recent crying inexplicably annoyed me.

I didn't particularly like little kids, but it was perplexing that this child's tears made me feel heartbroken.

I was an enemy to Kingsley and Freya, yet I found myself feeling compassion for their child?

It was really a strange situation!

"I'm not sure about that, but my people tell me Kingsley seems to be planning something for the last two days. So, until the dust settles, we'd better be cautious."

Boone finished, then turned his face aside, closed his eyes, and soon began snoring.

The days of rushing were dull, but Boone shared quite a bit of information with me.

Although the Black Wolf Pack's current situation was worrisome after the deaths of Alpha Alex and Robert, the pack's internal stability was maintained for the time being, considering it was considered a powerful pack before.

Therefore, as long as I came back with this little guy and claimed him as the child of Alpha Alex's son, Robert, the pack crisis would be resolved, and my revenge plan against Kingsley would smoothly commence.

Imagining Kingsley's anguished expression when he witnessed her two children battling each other in the future, I couldn't help but feel a surge of boiling blood.

As the street scene outside the window gradually retreated, I also slowly drifted into dreamland.

Upon reopening my eyes, the driver in front of me turned his head to inform me that we were approaching our destination.

I obediently gazed out the window, surrounded by a serene forest with a faintly visible black mountain range in the distance, my nostrils filled with the crisp cold air.

Beneath the mountains sprawled a vast expanse of towering buildings. However, upon closer inspection, the seemingly bustling streets appeared sparsely populated, confirming Boone's earlier assessment that the Black Wolf Pack's current situation was indeed grim.

"Boone, you're finally back. Who did you bring this time?" a muffled voice greeted us as soon as the car came to a stop.

Hearing it, I instinctively frowned and cast a wary glance at Boone. He, too, furrowed his brow and spoke softly to me, "He's Renee. My people tell me he's been quite restless lately and has numerous connections with the Rogues around here."

A shiver ran through my mind, and I couldn't help but register a few alarm bells about Renee. It seemed that the absence of an Alpha in the Black Wolf Pack was stirring someone's ambition.

By the time the car halted, a group of people had gathered around it. Boone was the first to open the car door and step out.

"Where have you been all this time? Don't forget you're the Gamma of the pack. Leaving the pack at a time like this—have you forgotten your duties?" Renee grumbled discontentedly at Boone, feigning a false smile.

"It seems it's been so long since I've left that I didn't even realize the pack now has a new Alpha," I retorted with a sneer as I exited the car.

"Grace..." Renee visibly flinched the moment he saw me, but he quickly regained his composure, "What's this about a new Alpha? What are you talking about?"

"Oh? Am I wrong? Aren't you the new Alpha? Then since when is it your turn to teach Boone, Gamma of the Black Wolf Pack, how to do things?" I gave Renee a sharp look.

There was a flash of embarrassment in his gaze before he turned to Boone and said, "I'm sorry; I'm just worried about the pack."

"Good boy," I said with feigned praise, then stepped forward before turning to face the crowd.

"I've come back this time because there's something I need to announce."

Upon hearing my words, the crowd looked at each other, whispering occasionally. Boone coughed next to me, and the scene immediately quieted down.

"I know everyone has endured a lot since Alpha's death, but this is only temporary. Our suffering and worries will come to an end because we have a new Alpha." After saying that, I held the little one in my arms up high.

"A new Alpha?"

"Is that true?"

"Who's that baby"

...

The crowd once again erupted into a chorus of murmurs, skepticism and anticipation filling everyone's eyes. Boone gestured again, signaling for silence.

I continued, "This child is the son of my son, Robert. He has Alpha blood, and I believe he can become a competent leader. I will stay and be responsible for raising him."

Upon hearing my announcement, the crowd exchanged glances. Some even looked at Renee.

It seemed Renee had gained quite a bit of support during these times when Boone wasn't around, and the smile on his face had disappeared by now. He gazed at me, his eyes becoming a bit complicated.

He stepped forward, exuding ferocity. Perhaps fearing Boone's power beside me, he still tried to maintain a gentle posture and extended his hand toward me.

I hesitated, but in the next second, I handed him the little one in my arms.

Renee cradled the child and slowly turned around, raising him high. "Let's welcome the new Alpha of our pack."

With that, the crowd erupted into an amazing ovation, smiles spreading across everyone's faces.
