Love Me, Or Reject Me

Chapter 105 Kingsley's Pray

Ch. 105 / 120 Dec 11, 2024

Kingsley's POV

I would always remember the day when the door to the labor and delivery room swung open, and a nurse placed the baby in my arms, urgently and loudly saying, "The mother is hemorrhaging; please sign the surgical responsibility form. We're going to operate soon."

I could barely hold the baby; my eyes went black, and a dull ache struck my heart as I watched the nurse's mouth open and close, unsure of what she was saying.

May took the baby from me, and the nurse shoved the surgical responsibility form into my hand, saying, "Sign it. The mother is going to be operated on soon."

I'd signed my name countless times on documents in the past. I could sign my name with a heart on a list of tens of billions of dollars without a blink. But today, my name seemed extraordinarily difficult to write. Trembling, I finally signed.

My eyes were dry to the point of pain; I gasped for air. My wolf whimpered in pain.

At this moment, I was no longer the unstoppable Alpha, only Freya's mate. All I could do was humbly take the nurse's hand and pray, "Save her, you must save her."

"We'll all do our best." The nurse hurried out and away.

I prayed to the Moon Goddess to keep Freya safe.

After a while, the nurse emerged from the operating room again.

"Nurse, how is she doing?"

"The doctor is resuscitating her, so don't rush for now. Be patient for a while."

The nurse shook off my hand and left in a hurry.

Watching the nurse's anxious departure, a huge wave of grief washed over me.

My eyes were red, and I gasped for air. My mouth opened and closed, but I couldn't say anything.

All I could do was to wait helplessly in a corner.

Freya, my Luna...

Our baby in May's arms, perhaps sensing Freya's danger, cried loudly.

I glanced at him and finally covered my head, crying.

The pain of worrying about losing my mate made my wolf wail, and the fear of losing the most important thing in my life made me shudder.

Moon Goddess, I would give everything I have if only Freya would be safe.

The door to the operating room opened again. I rose from the ground, grabbing the nurse as soon as I could. "Well, how is she?"

"The mother's body is harder than normal to conceive due to the wolfsbane she had endured for a long time, so accordingly, the pregnancy poses a greater danger to her. In the current situation, the mother's will to survive seems to be weak."

I took a few steps backward in disbelief, the words I was about to utter hard and bitter.

"Does she want to give up on life?"

How dare she? How dare she!

I whimpered a few times in agony.

It was my fault! If it wasn't for me, Freya wouldn't have suffered this at all.

The nurse didn't know how to comfort me but could only say calmly, "We now need the person closest to the mother to awaken her will to live."

"Let me go! I must bring Freya back."

I stood up and calmly and firmly followed the nurse into the operating room and changed into a sterile gown.

It was only when I walked through another door that I saw Freya, who was always cheerful, smiling, and sweet, now lying there with a pale face.

I walked up and whispered, "Freya, will you come home with me? I miss you, and our baby misses you. Listen, our baby is crying for his mommy, do you hear him?"

And in the operating room, I shouted Freya's name nonstop.

When I was all about to be disappointed, Freya finally opened her eyes and looked at me and said weakly.

"Kingsley, I'm fine, I was just sleepy."

I almost cried out in the operating room. I couldn't gauge how much time had passed, but the obstetrician and gynecologist, appearing exhausted.

"The operation was successful, the mother's life is no longer in danger. She will be transferred to the intensive care unit for three days of observation."

---

My gaze fixated on the peacefully sleeping Freya in the ICU. She looked like a rag doll lying there, soundless.

I pressed my palms against the glass, my body shaking violently, and my heart tightening.

Only by repeatedly murmuring Freya's name could I summon the strength to break through the darkness.

I stood there like a statue, a protector, silently vowing to guard my beloved.

The doctor emphasized the need for Freya's three-day observation, so I remained outside without eating or drinking.

People came and went outside the ICU, casting curious glances my way.

Finally, a nurse emerged from the custody room.

"Freya is awake. Is the family here?"

Freya had finally woken up!

Despite my stiff body and slow movements, I rushed to the nurse as fast as I could.

"I'm Freya's mate. Is she awake? How is she now?"

My Freya wouldn't leave him, would she?

My voice was low, but my heart was ecstatic. My wolf couldn't help but let out a high-pitched howl full of joy.

I tightly grasped the nurse's arm and inquired anxiously.

The nurse calmly reassured me, "She's awake now; the doctor mentioned that there aren't significant issues. The patient has a clear mind , and she even inquired about your child."

"Take your time; it will be a little while before the transfer to the general ward. You wouldn't want your mate to wake up and see you like this, would you? Go freshen up; once you're done, you can visit your mate."

The nurse shared several comforting words before returning to her duties.

Outside, I observed Freya engaged in conversation with the nurse. Despite the subtle nature of her smile, I noticed it.

Fortunately, the Moon Goddess seemed to have answered my prayers, and I was really grateful that Freya would continue to be there for me in the future.
