Love Me, Or Reject Me

Chapter 72 Mate Meeting

Ch. 72 / 120 Dec 11, 2024

Kingsley's POV

In the werewolf bar.

"Hey, Kingsley, when exactly are you and Freya having the Mating Ceremony?" Mark said teasingly as he held up a glass of whiskey and looked at me.

My eyes darkened at the mention of the Mating Ceremony. I owed Freya a perfect Mating Ceremony before, so I wanted to make it up to her by having a new one. However, for some reason, Freya always changed the subject whenever I brought it up. This made me very agonized.

"Kingsley. Seriously, if you can't offer Freya happiness, I'm going to pursue Freya." Finley joked.

"Hey, what did you mean? You stay away from Freya. Just wait, I'll make Freya agree to finish the Mating Ceremony with me!" I immediately retorted, though I wasn't really mad because I knew Finley was just joking.

Just then, I got a call from Henry.

Looking at Henry's caller ID, I couldn't help but feel a headache.

He hadn't given me a good face since he found out that the sister he managed to get back had accepted me as her mate again.

"Hmph, what? You and my sister are having a Mating Ceremony? How come I didn't hear about it from Freya?" Henry questioned me in a disgruntled tone as soon as the call was connected.

Thinking that Henry was Freya's brother, I could only touch my nose awkwardly before saying, "Uh, maybe she forgot to tell you?"

"Hmph, don't think I don't know what you're thinking. Let me tell you! As Freya's brother, I won't agree to you guys being together! You bastard, Freya might forgive you just because of your flowery words, but I won't!"

After saying that, he snapped and hung up the phone. I looked at my phone and shook my head helplessly before looking up, only to see my friends, Mark and Finley, both averting their eyes in embarrassment. Apparently, they had all heard Henry's words.

"Well... Kingsley, don't be discouraged; you and Freya are meant for each other." To ease the awkwardness, Mark patted my shoulder encouragingly.

"But I really can't figure out why Freya is hesitant to agree to have a Mate Ceremony with me," I scratched my head bitterly and felt a wave of frustration as I thought about what Henry had said.

"Could it be because Henry doesn't agree?" I thought.

Finley's voice suddenly came over. "Oh, how come you haven't grown in all these years! You only think of yourself in everything you do and do whatever you want. You should put yourself in Freya's shoes and think for her, huh?"

"What do you mean?" I looked at Finley confused.

Finley took a deep breath as if he was suppressing something, then rolled his eyes at me and said, "Let me ask you this: you keep saying you want to have a Mate Ceremony with Freya, so have you sent flowers? Ever knelt before her and asked her? And is it just a Mate Ceremony that you owe Freya? You met Freya in the first place and chose her to be your mate without saying a word. I think you need to start courting Freya again, starting with the first bouquet of flowers. By the way, do you know what kind of flowers Freya likes?"

Hearing Finley's words, I was in deep thought.

In a trance, I remembered that Freya had once mentioned that her favorite was the sunflower because the flower language of the sunflower was loyalty, passion, light, and silent love.

I snapped my head up, then said sincerely, "Thank you, I see. No matter what, I'll definitely try with all my heart to make Freya come back to me willingly this time. This time, I'm pretty sure."

Suddenly, my cell phone rang again.

I picked up my phone, and it turned out to be Henry sending me a message.

My eyes popped, and I had a gut feeling that it wasn't good news.

Sure enough, the next instant, I saw the message, and my eyes widened.

"Hey, poor Kingsley, see? I'm hosting a mate meeting for my sister! These guys are really good-looking and handsome!'

Attached to the message was a photo of the scene. In the picture, a group of werewolves of various shapes and sizes had gathered, holding glasses of wine. I zoomed in on the picture and finally spotted Freya in the corner, wearing a purple evening gown, holding a glass of wine, and engaging in a cordial conversation with a werewolf.

My wolf instantly sensed a crisis. My hand holding my cell phone clenched, itching to move to Freya's side and drive that annoying werewolf away.

The next second, I received another text from Henry, this time with a much clearer picture of Freya and the werewolf.

"Poor Kingsley, it looks like my sister is impressed with this werewolf."

Through the screen, I could sense how triumphant Henry sounded.

With a clang, my hand slammed onto the table, startling Mark and Finley.

"What's wrong?" Mark asked.

"Nothing," I grimaced and stood up. "I have something I need to attend to."

I grabbed my jacket and quickly left.

That idiot Henry was so busy teasing me that he must not have noticed he accidentally captured the name of the hotel in his picture.

Soon, I arrived at the hotel where the mate meeting was being held.

From a distance, I could see Freya sitting in the corner, sipping champagne, with the werewolf nowhere in sight at the moment.

I immediately rushed over to her. "Freya!"

Freya obviously didn't expect me to show up out of nowhere, and she looked at me in surprise. "Kingsley, what are you doing here?"

I ignored her question and walked forward, grabbing her hand. "Freya, come with me."

"Wait, what's going on here?"

Seeing that Freya didn't seem inclined to leave with me, I instantly felt a little anxious and shouted, "Freya, you can't do this to me. Don't forget that you've marked me; you can't abandon me to accept someone else as a mate!"

I looked at Freya aggressively and waited apprehensively for her response, like a wife afraid of being abandoned by her husband. However, Freya just smiled at me.

"Hahaha!" A long string of laughter suddenly erupted, and I immediately recognized it as Henry's laughter.

"What? What's that I hear? You actually let Freya mark you? So you're going to be part of our Moonlight Pack, right?" Henry laughed out loud.

My eyebrows jumped up and down as I resisted the urge to punch him in the face. After all, he was Freya's brother.

It was then that Freya finally spoke up, "Accepting someone else as a mate? Why do you say that?"

I flinched and glanced at Henry, then said, "Isn't this the mate meeting Henry is holding for you?"

Freya quickly realized what was happening, then glanced at Henry and said to me, "No, it's not. This mate meeting is for Charlie; she's turned eighteen."

Charlie, Henry's other sister? What? This damn Henry tricked me!

I turned my head angrily at Henry, who rubbed his nose in embarrassment, then defiantly weaseled out, "What? I didn't say which one of my sisters it was; you're the one who misunderstood!"

I was about to rush up and punch Henry, but Freya pulled my hand at that moment, saying, "Let's go, let's go over there and have a drink."

My anger instantly calmed down, feeling the warmth coming from Freya's hand; my wolf whimpered contentedly.

I bowed my head and obediently followed my queen over to the champagne tower. I didn't forget to give Henry a smug look as I passed him.
