From Gamma to Luna

Chapter 67

Ch. 67 / 98 Jan 10, 2026

Derek’s POV

The car was nearby and I turned aroud to get in. But just then Gerald and Kent exchanged a look as if they had something to tell me. They looked very embarrassed.

"Tell me what's going on," I asked them in a low voice.

Kent thought for a second and then said, "Alpha, we have just received word that the restaurant where Luna and Angel dined tonight has been attacked and many people have been poisoned. Luna and Angel are missing."

"What?" I asked with a look of disbelief on my face.

Kent bowed his head in remorse and explained, "I'm sorry Alpha. Luna went out and I didn't send guards to protect her, my mistake! I've sent someone to look for them and the men who poisoned them have been arrested and brought back to Pack for questioning."

I mind-linked Erika and tried to connect with her, failing as expected.

When I found out I couldn't mind-link Erika again, my wolf was restless.

I quickly recovered from the shock and began to think about what to do. Poisoning again! There was a good chance that Baron had provided the poison again, and although I didn't know his reasons for doing so, he had crossed the bottom line time and again. Even though I had escaped safely, I knew that a battle was inevitable tonight.

"Keep searching, seek Francis' help if necessary, and keep the Blood Warriors on standby."

After hearing my words, Kent looked up at me in surprise.

The Blood Warriors were a secret army that Kent was responsible for training, and for me to order them to stand by meant that things were already serious.

"Alpha, what do you mean?"

"Prepare for a war," I said solemnly as I looked into the distance.

"Yes!" Kent replied.

While I was considering whether to call Francis, he called me out of the blue. Did he know it so quickly?

I walked to the other side of the road and picked up the phone.

"Did something happen in your pack? Angel was running around with her gift. She was unconscious when I met her and she kept mumbling something like 'save Luna' and 'the Lumiere Pack'. Do you know what that means?"

"What? Is Angel not with Erika?" I asked in surprise.

"Are they supposed to be together now?" Francis was even more confused by my question.

"Yes, of course!" I replied, "They went to a restaurant together tonight and were attacked and both lost contact. Now Angel is with you, so where is Erika?" I murmured.

"Probably in the Lumiere pack. Can't you feel her presence?" Francis asked cautiously.

My face darkened as I recalled how Alex reacted after receiving the call and it seemed that the incident was connected to the Lumiere Pack.

"I can’t mind-link her. Now I know why. Their defenses are interfering with the mate bond between me and Erika. The Alpha of the Lumiere Pack can distort space."

"Wait, I just remembered that I received a briefing paper on their defense system today and I didn't have a chance to send it to you. Perhaps it will help you."

"I also have some information to share with you…"

After the call, I walked back and said to them, "We need to go to the Lumiere Pack now. Kent, tell your Blood Warriors to wait at the border of the Lumiere Pack.”

Kent and Gerald exchanged a confused look. Kent asked, "What? Why are we going there?"

"To save Erika!" I replied.

They both looked at me with wide-eyed shock.

Three seconds later, they replied in unison, "Yes!”

On the way to the border, I read the information Francis had given me, trying to feel Erika's presence at the same time.

The information Francis had received indicated that the Alpha of the Lumiere Pack had distorted the space around their pack. Although the entrance was heavily guarded, this was just their way of diverting attention. Actually, anyone without permission would not be able to get in even if they could defeat the warriors and then force their way through the gate. They would only find themselves bypassing the pack and then getting further and further away from it. It was a secret. Even if people failed to get in, they would think that they were lost or that the information was wrong, rather than thinking that it was actually a trick.

I explained this to Kent and Gerald and asked them what they thought.

"What a clever defense!" Although Gerald is a man of few words, he couldn't help but exclaim at this point.

"My Goddess, what are we going to do?" Kent asked.

"Yes, very clever indeed. But there is a fatal flaw in their defense system," I said, my eyes falling on Kent and Gerald.

"Flaw?"

"What flaw?"

They asked with puzzled looks on their faces.

"The flaw is that the space distortion trick is very easy to break. Once their defenses are known to others, they’ll be in danger. As long as we find out where the distortion begins and then we destroy it, the whole defense will collapse and cease to exist." I explained.

They were stunned.

After a few seconds, Kent asked, "So how can we find where it begins?”

"Find anything that doesn't make sense, that shouldn't exist. That's the sign of space distortion. Since the border defenses are vital, their Alpha will go to great lengths to reduce the flaws. It takes great care to find out where it begins. But we have Hugh. Ask him to take a rest. He needs to work overtime after a while." A smile finally appeared at the corner of my mouth as I said this.
