Angel's POV
I froze on the spot with my mouth agape.
Erika just spoke!
That was...
I was so happy for her that tears streamed down my face.
I wanted to come over and hug her, but Derek was by her side.
They held each other tightly. She was now completely different from the one who tried every possible method to escape from her mate.
The birthday party ended.
Much as I didn't want to leave, I had to say goodbye and went back to that room again.
This was the room where I woke up with a splitting headache two weeks ago.
On that day.
I suddenly sat up, panting.
I felt instinctively that something urgent needed to be done, but for a moment, I couldn't think of anything.
Was I in the pack?
I looked around this room and tried to figure out where I was, but nothing in this room rang a bell.
What was wrong with me?
Suddenly, it occurred to me that Erika was still in danger!
I jumped out of bed and rushed to the door.
I was so anxious that I didn't notice the footsteps outside.
I twisted the door open and bumped into a woman.
"Ouch!" She was caught off guard and fell to the ground.
"I'm sorry," I helped her up and apologized.
Soon, she recovered herself from it and didn't get mad at me. Instead, she revealed a smile.
She was in a bright yellow long dress which set off her beautiful curve and she was gorgeous and elegant with her curly blonde hair. However, while she was smiling, she gave the impression that she could see me through effortlessly.
That made me feel a little bad.
After helping her up, I turned around and was about to use my gift. I wanted to leave here as soon as possible.
At that moment, I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Hello, Angel, you woke up earlier than I thought." A sweet voice sounded from behind.
How did she know my name?
"Do you know me?" I turned to face her and studied her face closely. I didn't know her.
"Yes. I've heard of you for a long time. You can call me Elsa," she answered while extending her hand to me.
I had never heard this name.
"Hello, Elsa. Well, I need to take leave now. ..." I tried to get rid of her, but was soon interrupted.
"Angel, everything is fine. The one you're worried about is fine, or to be more precise, she's pretty good now," she said with that same smile.
What she just said astonished me although I tried hard to maintain a calm look. She didn't say the name, but I got her meaning immediately.
"How do you know it? And where am I? Where is Erika?" I asked with a frown.
"Angel, that's too many questions for a patient to ask. What you need now is rest," she chuckled as she led me into the room.
I didn't need any rest and what I wanted was truth!
Sadly, before I could find out the truth, the headache set in again.
I lay on the bed again.
"It's OK if you have a headache, don't worry about it. As I said, you need rest," she said gently as she poured a cup of water for me.
I took it over.
This was when I noticed a ring on the little finger of her right hand.
And there was a "W" on it.
A word flashed through my mind, but I didn't take it seriously.
"You may wonder where you are. You'll know it soon. But you're perfectly safe and no one can hurt you here," she said gently while looking at my eyes. She was trying to be friendly, which didn't work on a warrior, because I had decided to do the opposite.
I raised the cup and pretended to be drinking. While in fact, I poured it into the quilt secretly.
The instant I "finished" it, I suddenly smashed it to the ground and picked up the largest shard.
I sped toward her, strangled her with my left arm, and put the shard close to her neck.
It happened in a single second. When she realized what was happening and tried to ask for help, it was already late.
"Answer my questions!" I tried to sound as fierce as possible. I felt more dizzy after using my gift.
"OK. Calm down. I'll tell you everything. It might be too much for you to take, are you sure..."
"Answer my questions!" I repeated again and pushed the shard closer to her neck.
"Fine," she sighed, "Angel, what you're going to hear is big news for you, something that's going to change your whole life. That is the Moon Goddess’s arrangement and I suggest you accept it…”
After she was finished, I collapsed on the ground with tears welled up in my eyes.
“May I know his name?” I raised my head, looked at her with expectation, and asked the question with a trembling voice.
Things would be not that bad if I could hear that name. I knew I was being unrealistic, of course Francis was not the alpha of the pack, but only this name could change the bad news into good news.
“Nicholas,” she uttered the word.
“No!” I burst out into tears and lay on the ground on my stomach.
I didn’t know him. It was for sure.
Elsa patted me on my head as comfort, left the room, and closed the door.
