Derek's POV
"You are right. And you should know where your cooperation with him will lead you. I am good at gathering information. I can find out any secret you want to know," I answered, hoping that I could change his mind.
"Don't think that you can persuade me with a few words, young man." He sneered.
His words irritated me. I raised my hands and sent him electricity.
However, while my electricity flew to Alex directly, it made a turn in the air and then shot to the tree next to Alex.
I frowned. I had never missed the target when I sent electricity. And I missed twice when I attacked him, but he didn't even move in the slightest.
It occurred to me that Alex's gift was mentioned in the information that Francis gave me.
It was said that Alex could distort the space and therefore disturb his enemy. Maybe that was also why his pack could stay mysterious for such a long time. If I guessed it right, he distorted the space outside his pack so that no one could get in easily. That might be one of the reasons why the Lumiere Pack wasn’t at war with the Fly Rock Pack last time they trespassed the border because Richard couldn’t cause any harm.
Did he use his gift just now? I didn't see him use his gift and the space was suddenly distorted.
I decided to try close confrontations.
I rushed over and punched him in his stomach at a quick speed. He seemed surprised at my speed and was stunned for a second. He tilted his body and dodged it. But it was only the first punch. I gave him several punches on end and knocked him to the ground.
Blood oozed from the corner of his lips.
He glared at me and got up again. Now he took me seriously.
He jumped up from the tree and before I knew it, a dagger was flying at me at a high speed.
I sneered. Erika had thrown daggers at me countless times. For me, it was more like a game.
I looked at Alex with a smile, raised one arm, and held the dagger by the blade without looking at it.
Alex’s face changed greatly.
I dropped the dagger, charged toward him, and gave a kick on his head.
He raised his hand to defend. Damn! I missed the target again. I lost my balance and fell to the ground. He used the gift again.
Kent mind-linked me. Where are you, alpha?
I couldn’t waste more time on him. It was time to leave.
At this moment, Alex's phone rang.
"What?" After listening to the phone for a while, Alex's face changed.
"I'll be back soon!" Alex answered the phone.
He took away his phone, faced me, and waved his hands. Suddenly, a blue light shone. It was so dazzling that I averted my gaze. When I opened my eyes again, Alex had disappeared and everything else seemed no different. But I knew that something was different.
I turned on my phone and wanted to see where I was. It alarmed me to find that I couldn't locate myself.
I tried to mind-link Gerald and Kent. No response. They must be searching for me and trying to connect with me. I tried to mind-link Erika. As expected, I couldn't connect with her. Hopefully, she wouldn't be worried about me.
I needed to get out of here as soon as possible.
I went to a tree, summoned lightning, and hit the tree.
The next second, the tree was split in half by lightning.
That was quite an obvious mark. Then I walked straight ahead. I walked along the road and ten minutes later, the mark appeared again. It was the tree that was split in half.
Fine, it seemed that I was trapped somewhere and I couldn't contact anyone.
But I didn't regard it as a big problem. There must be many flaws because Alex was in a rush. I observed the surroundings, trying to find something weird. I had to admit, there were no obvious flaws.
My eyes fell on a tree. He must have done something to the tree to make an enclosed space.
I walked along the road again while studying the trees. It was spring and the leaves had turned green. As I walked, I found that there were fallen leaves under some of the trees. I thought of the reason immediately. The leaves must be shaken to the ground when Alex used his gift. So the trees weren’t supposed to be here. What would happen if I knocked down the trees?
I shifted into wolf form, stepped back a little bit, and had a run-up.
I knocked on a tree under which there was a pile of fallen leaves. The tree fell to the ground immediately. At the same time, other trees beside it also collapsed with a bang.
The next second, there was a dazzling blue light in the sky.
I succeeded.
After the light disappeared, I walked back to the split tree. I walked straight ahead while counting the time.
Ten minutes later, the split tree didn’t appear. I turned around and look back, it couldn’t be seen. Now I was sure that I had gotten out of the trap.
“Alpha!” Suddenly, I heard someone call my name. It was Kent.
I turned around and found our car. Kent was waving at me.
The car stopped in front of me.
“Alpha Derek, you’re here. We’ve searched for you in this place for a long time and we didn’t find you,” Kent said.
“It’s a long story. Let’s go back first,” I said to them.
