Angel's POV
I couldn't marry a man I didn't even know. And I didn't want to know him.
Derek gave me to the Westford pack as punishment, but as a warrior with free will, I could decide what to do next.
I had only one choice, escape!
Escaping would be easy for me because of my gift. As long as I could get out of this pack, I would be unstoppable.
With this thought, I fell sound asleep.
It was the next day when I woke up again. My headache was relieved and I felt much better.
I walked to the door and opened it. I needed to figure out where I was.
I was astonished to see a bunch of soldiers in uniform.
At the sound of the door opening, they all turned around and looked at me without any expression.
Damn!
Why were there so many warriors? What happened last night?
I gave up the plan of escaping now. I couldn’t even get to the corridor with so many warriors.
I might give it a try if I had wings.
"I ... I take a rest and I still have a headache. I don't know what the problem is. Maybe I need medical help." I said to the man in the lead while pressing my forehead and pretending that I was in pain.
He nodded his head slightly and didn’t say anything.
Nor did his face change the slightest.
Well, it was like talking to the wall.
I walked back to the room and closed the door, still wondering what was happening.
Yesterday this room was still unguarded.
Elsa and Francis were the only guys I met. And Francis was the only one who knew that I would escape.
Could it be that he let the alpha know my intention to escape?
That was the only explanation I could think of.
At this possibility, I felt a chill down my spine.
Yesterday, I was still asking him if he wanted to escape with me. I bared my soul to him without any hesitation.
And what did he do? He rejected my love and fooled me around.
I felt like an idiot now!
At this moment, I missed the Blood Moon pack. I missed Erika so hard! She could always make the right decision whatever happened.
And now, I was alone without any support. It was like me against a whole pack.
Suddenly, someone knocked on the door.
It would be best if Elsa was outside. I could tell that she didn’t have any fighting skills, and she didn’t seem like a nobody. She could make my escape plan perfect.
I opened the door. It was her!
Awesome!
She was in the same dress, with the same smile. She looked exactly the same as yesterday.
“I heard that you had a headache,” she said and was about to walk in.
The moment she put her hand on the handle, I was already behind her.
I put my hands around her neck and threatened the warriors.
“Get out of the building in ten seconds, or she’ll be dead.”
I couldn’t find anything that could be used as weapons, the shards yesterday had already been cleaned. All I could use was my hands, and that would be enough.
However, the expected riot didn’t occur.
The warriors didn’t move at all, nor did they even panic.
They looked at me with the same cold face.
It was as if they didn’t hear what I said.
How could this be?
Something was off.
I used more force on Elsa.
I expected that she could struggle hard, but she didn’t move or panic.
I looked at the warriors. Their expressions didn’t change the slightest.
My Goddess!
Was it part of their training to be pokerfaced?
Forget about it, I let go of Elsa. I could fight my way.
I would escape or die here. I didn’t need other choices.
However, as I was about to shift into wolf form, my arms were grasped.
Before I realized what was happening, I felt something cold and hard on my hands.
What just happened?
I turned around in confusion.
My heart jolted. I saw Francis! Elsa was nowhere to be found. And my hands were handcuffed behind my back.
Now, things were clear.
It was a trick!
Francis not only revealed my intention to escape to the alpha, he also set up a trap for me.
He disguised himself as Elsa and I didn’t see anything wrong.
I understood why he could fool Richard around and stall for such a long time when we saved Erika.
His gift could be very useful when we had the same enemy.
But now…he made me feel scared for the first time.
He opened the door, pushed me in, and closed the door.
Lost in thought, I fell to the ground although he didn’t use much force.
He seemed a little guilty for pushing me to the ground, so he carried me in his arms and put me on the bed.
What a hypocrite!
I looked at him in disdain.
“Francis, do you need a lot of money or something?” I asked.
“What?” he didn’t get my meaning.
“I mean, I thought we could be friends if we weren’t … you know. But you betrayed me to curry favor with your alpha. Is there anything that you are in urgent need of? Otherwise, you’re a fucking jerk!” I articulated the last syllables.
