Erika's POV
After I finished training, I returned to the pack house and went to shower.
I spent the rest of the day thinking about how to celebrate Derek's birthday. To be honest, I didn't celebrate my birthday either. My birthday was right after Richard's. Everyone would celebrate his birthday and I was often ignored.
Derek was the Alpha, the leader of the pack. How could Alpha's birthday be ignored? It made no sense.
But if I took the liberty of celebrating his birthday, would he be angry with me? It was about the former Luna, after all. Maybe I should put myself in his shoes.
I thought about it all afternoon and still didn't know what to do.
All of a sudden, a message from Angel popped up on my phone.
"I have one more fight and I will try to win it in five minutes. Then I'll call it a day. Should I come to the pack house and pick you up in half an hour?"
"OK. I replied.”
"See you later!"
She would be coming soon. I rushed upstairs and changed. At the same time, I mind-linked Derek and told him that I was going to eat with Angel.
You can wait for me there after you have finished your meal. I'll pick you up as soon as I'm done here. Derek replied immediately.
Soon Angel arrived. She entered the house and looked around. After making sure I was alone in the room, she gave me a bear hug.
I smiled and wrapped my arms around her body. Suddenly Angel tightened her grip on my waist and I felt my feet being lifted off the ground. I looked up at Angel in surprise. Where did this power come from?
Before I knew it, there was a sudden gust of wind. It felt like everything was whizzing past me. It made me a little dizzy.
"Close your eyes, Luna. It's going to feel amazing," Angel said.
I closed my eyes as she told me to. Yes! It did feel amazing. The wind whistled. I stretched out my arms as if I was flying in the air. The dizziness disappeared and I began to enjoy it.
After a while Angel slowed down and the sound of the wind faded. After a minute or so we stopped. My feet touched the ground again.
Not surprisingly, I lost my balance and leaned back out of control. She still had her arms around my waist, so I didn't fall. After steadying myself, I stood up from her.
I looked around and realized that we were outside the restaurant. Normally it would take almost an hour to get to the restaurant. And it took Angel... I checked the time. Angel knocked on the door of the pack house at half past seven. And only five minutes passed. She was getting faster and faster!
That's amazing! I mind-linked her and grinned from ear to ear.
"So you like it! I was still worried you wouldn't like it. You know, you're carsick." Angel teased me, blinking her eyes.
Are you mocking me? I asked, pretending to attack her.
"No. I don't dare!" Angel pleaded as she covered her head with her hands. Then we all burst out laughing.
We entered the restaurant and sat down.
My treat. Order anything you like. I mind-linked her as I pushed the menu in front of her.
"Are you sure?" She looked at the menu and asked timidly. Every single dish in the restaurant was quite expensive.
Yes. Derek will pay for us. I mind-linked her.
"Really?" Angel asked. Her eyes lit up.
I nodded.
She covered the price with her hand and started to order. That way she could order without thinking about the prices.
We ordered a lot of food. Obviously, her appetite grew a lot. But that was not surprising. After all, the training she had undergone was extremely rigorous. I didn't even go through such hard training after becoming a warrior in my former pack. Of course, I was ignored for a long time before I proved myself by defeating the best warrior in the pack.
We chatted over lunch. I asked her if she enjoyed her life as a warrior.
She kept a smile on her face and began to talk about how good it felt to achieve her dream. She also thanked me for teaching her and giving her the chance. But I didn't buy it, because her eyes said otherwise.
I poured myself a cup of whisky. Angel also wanted a cup of wine. I rejected her flatly. She argued that she was an adult after three months and insisted on having a cup of wine. I sighed and poured her a cup.
She immediately got drunk and started talking about how harsh the training was. Besides the training every day, she also had physical training every other night, which made my jaw drop.
"Another thing is that I'm always alone. I'm the only girl among the warriors. The boys rarely talk to me. I'm so lonely," she mumbled and her eyes became watery.
I looked at her pitifully. Her words broke my heart and I didn't know how to comfort her. So I took a sip of wine.
It was then that Derek tried to connect me.
Excuse me. I mind-linked Angel and went to the toilet.
Erika, I can't pick you up tonight. Hugh found out that Richard was going out tonight without a guard. I asked Hugh to follow him and I had to go to the border immediately. I don't know when I'll be back. Can you two get it back alone or should I send a guard to pick you up? Sorry pup. Derek explained through mind-link.
My face changed, not only because of the important news, but also because of the touch of the cold metal on the back of my neck. I couldn't have been more familiar with it. It was a dagger.
