Erika's POV
I almost felt sorry for the man who dared to threaten me with a dagger.
"Hands up!" The man shouted.
I immediately put my hands up as he said.
"Turn around!" He shouted.
I turned around with a big smile on my face.
His face changed when he saw the dart I was holding in my hand. Being an alert fighter, I discovered that someone might be following me when I went to the toilet. So I clenched my fist and summon a small dart. I held it between my fingers. It was small and inconspicuous. Enough to kill him.
I threw the dart at him before he realized what was happening. Then his face contorted in sudden pain. He lowered his head and looked down at the dart in his neck.
I stepped back and looked at him indifferently. Suddenly I heard noises outside the toilet.
I rushed out of the toilet. My face also changed.
My nose was greeted with a strange smell. Ever since I was poisoned last time I met James in the forest, I was alert to strange smells. Now I was sure that someone was trying to poison me.
The restaurant was a mess. Some had already passed out from the effects of the poison, while others were still conscious. But they were also in panic because a group of men with weapons and masks were searching the restaurant.
I knew immediately that they were looking for me.
I went back to the restroom. The man that threatened me with dagger was lying on the ground unconscious. Where was Angel? I just looked around the restaurant and didn't see Angel. I hoped she was fine.
Angel? Are you OK? I linked her.
Erika, where are you? Am I drunk? Where are there so many people? Angel mind-linked me.
Thank Goddess, Angel answered me immediately, but she didn't seem to be thinking straight. I wasn't sure if it was the alcohol or the poison.
Angel, I'm in the toilet. You're not drunk. The restaurant has been attacked and there is poison in the air. Open my purse and put on a mask. Then get to the toilet as fast as you can with the purse. I mind-linked her.
What? Angel asked.
Do as you’re told! Be quick! I mind-linked her.
OK. She mind-linked.
I closed the toilet door and waited with my heart in my throat. The strange smell still existed. So I covered my face with my hand and held my breath.
I paced the toilet nervously. What if she was drunk and didn't understand what I was saying? It was her first time drinking wine and she would get drunk easily. Now I felt guilty.
I thought of asking Derek for help. But he was also busy now. Not wanting to ruin his plan, I didn’t mind-link him.
Suddenly I heard footsteps outside the toilet.
Angel? Is that you? I mind-linked her.
"Yes, open the door!" Her voice sounded outside the door.
I opened the door immediately and she ran into the toilet. Thank Goddess.
But my heart sank when I saw her face without the mask. She had the purse with her, but she wasn't wearing the mask!
"Why am I so dizzy?" Angel asked, rubbing her temples with her hand.
Because you forgot to wear the mask!
I didn't blame her, she was drunk. I took two masks out of my bag, tore open the packages and put them on for us.
Angel, I know you feel very sleepy, but you can't sleep now. We are both in danger if you sleep now! We have to get out of here! I mind-linked her as I shook her shoulder wildly.
At my words, Angel suddenly became sober and struggled to open her eyes wide.
"OK. Let's... get out of here," she muttered.
I looked around and my eyes fell on the toilet window. I had a plan.
I summoned a long whip and tied it to the window of the toilet. We were on the third floor and we could land on the ground safely.
Angel, grasp the whip and jump down! I mind-linked her.
"Yes!" She said firmly, fighting the urge to yawn.
She jumped on the window and waited for me.
"They must be in the toilet!" A shrill voice was heard, then the sound of footsteps. I recognized immediately that the female voice belonged to Ann, one of the couple who poisoned me. I remembered her voice clearly. The next second, a strong, bearded man burst through the toilet holding a stick. He must be Ralph.
I summoned a volley of daggers and sent the daggers at them.
Ralph stepped back and hid behind the door to avoid the daggers. But Ann was not that lucky. She was stunned and it was too late when she tried to dodge.
“No!” Ralph growled.
One of my daggers slit Ann’s throat.
It was time, I jumped to the window and climbed down with the rope. Angel was slow to react due to the effects of the poison. She crouched motionless at the window, her eyes glazed.
Angel, follow me! I mind-linked her.
She turned her head. Seeing that I had disappeared, she sobered up and followed my lead. Thanks to the hard training she had received these days, she was able to climb down the whip faster than me, even though she was dazed.
She had waited for me on the ground when I was still clinging to the rope. The next second, Ralph came to the window and looked down. Determined to take revenge, he stuck his stick out of the window.
Oops.
No time to dawdle. I let go of the whip and jumped down.
At the same time, the man also threw the stick at me.
No! It was impossible for me to steady myself on the ground and avoid the stick at the same time. What would happen if the stick hit me on my head was beyond imagination.
Angel, use your gift! I mind-linked Angel.
She jumped up and reached out for me, preparing to pull me at high speed as soon as she caught me with her hands.
I looked at the distance between the stick and me, not sure if I would be hit by it.
The Moon Goddess, bless me!
