Third person's POV
Andrea gazed at Elena's face, no longer seeing any traces of burns.
She had heard that Elena had undergone dozens of skin graft surgeries to achieve her current appearance. Andrea's heart was filled with compassion.
If it weren't for her mental turmoil, how could she have harmed a child as dear as her daughter?
"Let's go back. She's doing well now. Developing drugs is her passion, and your presence will only hurt her," Megan advised.
Andrea stared intently, "Just for a while."
Elena seemed to sense something and looked in their direction, but all she saw was a vast expanse of white glass.
She laughed at herself in self-mockery. How could Andrea come to see her? Andrea didn't care about her at all.
Andrea continued to watch quietly.
Alvin had already returned to the Greenwood family's villa with the antidote.
He promptly handed it to Derek, "Alpha Derek, this is the antidote. Once Tabitha takes it, she will regain all her memories."
"Alright..." Derek stood with his back to the large floor-to-ceiling windows, murmuring, "The sky is about to lighten."
"Yes, it is."
Holding the medicine, Derek walked out slowly. Everything was about to come to an end.
He was well aware that the moment he gave Tabitha the antidote, whether she lived or died, they could never be together again.
His past actions towards Tabitha were enough to make her hate him intensely.
The first rays of the morning sun shone down as Tabitha slowly opened her eyes.
Jenny's gentle voice came through, "Luna Tabitha, the weather is nice today. Would you like to go outside and bask in the sun?"
"Okay." Tabitha looked at the somewhat dazzling sunlight outside and thought to herself that she probably didn't have many days left to enjoy such sunlight.
Weak and frail, she could only sit in a wheelchair, pushed by Jenny to the dining area.
In the kitchen, she saw a man in a white shirt, skillfully wielding a spatula.
Tabitha guessed that the familiar taste of the past few days must have been made by Derek.
Soon, an exquisite plate was filled with tempting fried eggs, ham, toast, and a fresh fruit salad. But she had no appetite.
"You don't have to go through so much trouble. I really don't have an appetite."
Derek looked at her tenderly, "Tabitha, please eat a little, even if it's just a bit."
"Alright, let's consider it our last meal together." She picked up her fork, speared a piece of perfectly fried ham, and chewed.
The salty fragrance and unique smoky flavor of the ham blended perfectly. His cooking skills were indeed commendable.
"Did you used to cook these often?" Perhaps it was the mindset of someone nearing death that made Tabitha's voice exceptionally calm.
Derek shook his head, "Rarely in the past few years. In the early years when we first got married, whenever I was home, you would pester me to cook. Over time, I honed my skills."
Hearing this, it seemed he used to treat her well, but why did they end up like this?
As soon as Tabitha closed her eyes, images of Derek with Daphne appeared.
In an instant, all the tenderness in her heart dissipated, leaving only coldness.
She didn't even want to ask about them, just eating in silence.
Derek handed a cup of hot milk to Tabitha. As she reached for it, Derek held her hand and softly called her name, "Tabitha..."
Tabitha looked at him, puzzled, "What's wrong?"
Derek's lips moved slightly as if he had many things to say. But in the end, he held back and only said, "Nothing, the milk won't taste good if it gets cold."
Tabitha felt that Derek was acting strangely today as if he had countless words hidden in his heart but was forcibly suppressing them for some reason. She didn't eat much during the meal. After all, her body was too weak, and her spirit was poor. So she went back to rest.
At that moment, the sun was just right. Tucker was dozing under the windowsill.
Tabitha looked at the bustling flowers outside the window. As sleepiness overcame her, she slowly closed her eyes.
She had a long dream with familiar faces, like old friends, gathered around her, discussing recent events.
Tabitha slept for a long time. Derek stayed by her side, quietly waiting for the verdict when she woke up.
This day and night were incredibly long for him.
As dawn approached, Tabitha woke up from her dream, gasping for air, as if someone had choked her in the dream, making her extremely uncomfortable.
The memory froze at the moment Derek forcibly injected her with the drug. She opened her eyes abruptly and met the same eyes from her dream.
Only now, instead of the determined indifference in his eyes, he was cautiously looking at her.
After a sleepless night, his voice was hoarse as he called out, "Tabitha."
