Third person's POV
A flicker of curiosity flashed in Megan's eyes, "Oh? Why do you suddenly need this?"
"It's pretty ridiculous, though. My foolish son, Derek, blinded by love, stubbornly used this drug on his mate. However, he didn't know she had wolfsbane and now, she got cancer. His mate is on the brink of death. You've been studying this drug for years. For the sake that we're all family, you must help me."
Upon hearing this, the fear and tension on Elena's face instantly vanished, replaced by a more sinister expression.
It turned out that Andrea had not come here for her sake at all but for Tabitha's again!
Derek loved Tabitha, and now even Andrea's love was to be taken away by Tabitha.
Elena's fingers dug deep into the thorns, yet she was oblivious.
What was she still expecting?
Andrea had never considered her truly important in the past and certainly wouldn't now.
She felt like a pitiful creature, longing for love but never receiving it.
Elena turned and left. Blood slowly drops from her fingers.
Megan played with her fan, "This drug is developed internally. I'm curious, how did Derek get it?"
"Megan, this is a matter of life and death. Don't worry about how he got it."
"So the sneaky one that night was him. Pity, the version he took had side effects. It's really not worth it."
Andrea was getting annoyed, "Can't you change your sharp-tongued habit? You're still the same old you. No wonder Mark doesn't like you."
"You think you have a good personality? Ambrose also said you're a crazy woman, don't you?"
"Alright, stop arguing. We're not young anymore. Arguing will only make a fool of ourselves. Just tell me, do you have the antidote or not?"
Megan glanced at her, "Even if I have it, I won't give it to you. Someone paid for Tabitha's life."
"Who?"
"Why do you think I would tell you?"
"No wonder Derek asked me to investigate you. Were you the one manipulating behind the scenes, switching Daphne and Tabitha?"
"Andrea, we're family. I advise you not to get involved in Tabitha's affairs. Even if I give you the antidote, she may not survive. It might be better for her to die like this."
Andrea's face darkened, and she said coldly, "I can ignore other's matters. But now that there's a way to save her, I have to try. Please, I'm begging you, help me."
Megan sighed, "After all these years, I've never seen you beg anyone. Alright, I'll do you this favor, but I can't help with anything else."
"Understood."
"I must warn you; the antidote can only eliminate the side effects of M-1. It cannot fight cancer. If she dies of cancer, don't come to me."
"Thank you, Megan." Andrea knew that getting the antidote was a stroke of luck.
After getting the antidote, Andrea immediately handed it to Alvin to deliver to Tabitha.
"Why, aren't you leaving?" Megan asked with a smile, "Do you want to talk with me?"
Andrea said solemnly, "I want to see Elena, even if she hates me. I want to see her. When I was the Luna of the Black Thorn Pack, she saw me as her mother. I know she always longed for my love, but I let her down."
"Alright, but she hates you. Whether she wants to see you or not is not my business."
"I just want to take a peek from afar."
Megan slowly got up, "Follow me."
They walked to the underground laboratory, where Megan stopped in front of a floor-to-ceiling glass window.
This was one-way glass, allowing them to see inside without being found. It was convenient for them to check everyone's progress at any time.
Megan pointed, "Look, that's Elena. You know, she was the daughter of the Beta. She used to rely on you so much, but you disappointed her."
Andrea's face showed heartache, "I know I've wronged her."
