Third person's POV
"Alpha Derek, chemotherapy is like fighting fire with fire. Besides the wolfsbane, it also indiscriminately attacks normal cells. Tabitha's condition is very serious now. It's possible that under the double blow of the wolfsbane and chemotherapy, she might not..."
Before Kamp finished his sentence, Derek hung his head, his voice hoarse, "No, Tabitha won't die."
Kamp, seeing Derek's state, didn't know how to comfort him. All they could do now was pray to the Moon Goddess for a miracle.
After a night of rescue efforts, Tabitha was temporarily out of danger.
But her condition was still not good. She was frail.
Kamp strongly advised against chemotherapy at this time, as she wouldn't be able to withstand it.
Looking at Tabitha in her coma and, for a moment, Derek had no other ideas. The chemotherapy had to be put on hold for now.
Rolf hurried over, "Alpha Derek, something's in trouble. I just heard that Klein has had an accident."
"What happened?"
"It seems to be an old illness that flared up. He was sent to a private hospital overnight. His family is protecting him very strictly, and we haven't been able to find out Klein's current situation yet, nor can we contact him."
This was the last straw. Klein was also having problems now.
"And Jasper?"
"His whereabouts are still unknown. Alpha Derek, rest assured. As soon as we have any news, we will tell you immediately."
Kamp rushed over, "Alpha Derek, Tabitha is awake."
Before he finished speaking, Derek had already stridden out.
Tabitha lay on the hospital bed. Her face was pale as paper. She was very weak.
Andrea also came in. Seeing Tabitha become like this overnight, she couldn't help but shed tears.
"Tabitha, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to lie to you..."
Tabitha had just woken up. Her nose was filled with the pungent smell of medicine. The pain in her stomach was temporarily stopped, and she felt like there was a giant monster in her body devouring her.
Everything that happened last night was like a dream. Her head was still a bit dizzy.
Facing Derek's red and concerned eyes, she asked, "Cancer?"
Derek leaned over the bedside, reached out, and held her hand. His throat was terribly blocked, "You will get better."
Tabitha smiled lightly, "So it wasn't a dream."
"Tabitha, I'm sorry. I..."
Derek wanted to explain. But Tabitha struggled to pull her left hand out of Derek's palm. "No need to explain. I'm not curious and don't want to hear it. I'm tired now."
She could collude with the whole family to deceive her. How much truth could there be in his explanation?
She was too exhausted to discern the truth in his words.
Andrea wiped away her tears and changed the subject, "Tabitha, when you get better, I will tell you the truth. I swear, this time I will never deceive you again. You must be hungry, let's eat something to warm your stomach."
Without making a scene, instead, Tabitha was very cooperative, "Okay."
She was indeed hungry. Probably, it was because the pain had been too severe recently. She was afraid of it.
Derek quickly brought over the oatmeal. Andrea raised the bed for Tabitha and put a cushion behind her waist.
Derek blew on the oatmeal, and only after the temperature was suitable did he feed it to Tabitha.
Tabitha didn't open her mouth. Derek hurriedly asked, "Don't you want to eat this? Tell me what you want to eat."
Tabitha said calmly, "It's not that I don't want to eat. It's just I don't want you to feed me."
She gazed into Derek's worried eyes and said word by word, "It makes me feel sick."
